Despite being a horror series, at it's core, Resident Evil is very sad. And there's really no more tragic a character than Chris Redfield. In the mansion incident, he lost his good friends Forest Speyer, Richard Aiken and Joseph Frost. Code Veronica, his sister's been pulled into a line of work she never wanted, Resident Evil 5, he got a little bit of revenge by finally putting down Albert Wesker but the events left Jill Valentine more than likely unable to continue working in the BSAA (we don't even know how she's doing post RE6. He never even mentions her anymore). He loses men constantly, he wanted out of this line of work but Pier Nievans died and he had to continue. By the time he loses Ethan Winters, I imagine the man just wants to rest. His life, his friends, it was all taken from him and yet he still carried on, because more than anyone, he could take it.
For real after resident evil 5 at the end of that helicopter with Chris Jill Sheva and Josh all seemed happy but in 6 chris went down just a dark path it was insane only piers got em out of it and died in 7 he was alright and in 8 seems like he completely tired but swore to piers he keep fighting
The AMV was mind-blowing... The AMV is the perfect combination of his Importance, Dedication Reliability, Struggles, Feats, High level of adaptability & etc.
At least he still has Jill and Claire who got lucky they are the two closest to him his little sister, and his close partner/ friend who they definitely have feelings for each other

Aww, my poor video game husband just CANNOT catch a break. He always carries the world on his shoulders, and he always blames himself for everything that goes wrong. He has carried all those deaths with him through the years, unable to let them go and always striving to do better. Yet, always failing. I wasn't a huge fan of RE8, but it was nice to see Chris again. And adding in his scenes, especially where Mia is yelling at him up against Piers and Jake doing the same... it just compounds how hard he takes every failure. It's clear on his face how devastated he is. He can only ever make eye contact with Jake 'cause killing Wesker was something he felt was right (obvs, it was ;p). But with Piers and Jill and Mia: he looks away. That blue coloring, though, is gorgeous! And this song is perfection for him. Such a tormented character. :[ Wonderful vid!

I love Leon and Chris equally, but it's true that I also dislike that they blame Chris often for this when he couldn't really do a lot of things to help, he's human, after all, even if he faced all of these things again and again.

Also, it was wanted at the beginning that Chris and Jill gets a romantic relationship, then the idea was more or less abandoned, but Capcom never gave up the hits about it.
