If the US and NATO wants war let the politicians go first with their children in the forefront, not immigrants who are hard up to be us citizens. We who live in the region wants peace and get cheap Chinese goods. Understand that.

A military officer in Norway just wrote a book. In his view, Norway should build a better defence.....in order to be less dependent on US. In his view (and many agree), the presens of US military increase the possibility of a war due to the provokative actions of US.

Sad. Reading & listening to fake & manipulative western media for too long really makes one crazy. It's about time to open one's mind to what's really going on. America is bankrupt. Only by making wars can its economy be sustained. That's why American arms manufacturers are all out in lobbying wars to sell their weapons of mass destruction, including supporting war freak politicians with their war narratives. Sad

      Your statement belies the facts.
China is trying to become a Blue Water navy. Why? Because China recognizes that its needs are global and no longer regional... China recognizes the importance of its oil transport from teh Gulf and raw resources from Africa, and aspires to have a navy that doesn't require home ports all along those routes. These are not simply domestic protection, this is imperialism, particularly when the international agreements involve heavy participation by China. Notice the difference between a B&R project vs a typical Western Democracy project. In the former, Chinese and not the local folk build, and then run the project ensuring a permanent presence while nowadays a Western project might provide financing but allows persons of many nationalities to do all the work from planning to building to later continuing work. Although international corporations tend to run the project, it's not the same a a nation like China dominating all aspects of the project while still charging the local government enormous fees.
The United States rarely makes an appearance in domestic waters unless there is a formal agreement.
Note how this is very different than China which has been continuously violating economic zones of all countries around the world to the point that everyone is no destroying Chinese violators instead of the usual warnings.
The real issue is that China rarely has anything to say about American ships violating Chinese maritime rights except for those that have no legal basis (like the 9-dot line). The United States is only enforcing international law when it sails to demonstrate freedom of navigation according to international law. China does not have an international Rule of Law basis for any of its disputes, so should be recognized as a belligerent Outlaw unless it can actually show otherwise.

What also occurred to me, there is simply no casus belli for a war against China. China has not done anything wrong so far that would justify any war.
China might have caused tensions in the SCS, but 1) that was in response to Obama's Pivot to Asia, and b) there are also tensions between other countries around the SCS. There are even tensions between France and Britain over fishing rights these days. That's something for neighbors to settle diplomatically among themselves, not for foreigners from another continent. What would France and Britain say if China sent their military to the north Atlantic?
Other than that China has not done anything wrong. Let's look objectively at Taiwan: the UN including the US and most European countries confirm that Taiwan is part of the PRC. Yet those countries support a minority on the island who are in favor of independence, even deploying weapons there. Again, what would Madrid say if China supported the Catalonia independence movement and deployed weapons in Catalonia? All of that just because a minority in Catalonia want independence from Madrid. Wouldn't Madrid consider that a declaration of war?
Other than that all I see are wild accusations without any proof, especially human rights accusations, which not even international courts will deal with as they know they are mere propaganda and lies.
Looking at recent history, there would be much more reason for the world to declare war on the US due to all its crimes against humanity, coups, civil wars, etc.

China has been so totally engrossed with improving the gains it has already achieved, within a few decades, to raise its economic status from being a poverty-stricken, famine-ridden country to one with technological advancements enabling it to e.g. cross-cross its country with bullet trains and shoot rockets to the moon; lift its entire 1.4 billion population out of poverty by 2020 something no other country has been able to do so that all its people enjoy ‘moderate prosperity’ ( no one has no home and none live along its roads like in most modern cities of the world); reach out through road and rail across the Asian historical silk route to connect with the rest of the world and help many other also not so well off countries to develop and prosper and even have excess to millions and millions of its Covid-19 vaccines which were beyond the reach of many poorer nations. Unlike the imperialist countries of the West which spend $trillions of dollars of their national resources on manufacturing armaments and vehicles of war and maintaining hundreds of military bases all around the world and keep bombing and destroying other countries, China has not aggressed any other country, nor has it done so in its 5000 -year civilisational history. The ones who are confrontational, aggressive and continuing to goad and bully China are the US and its allies. This bullying of China especially sending their aircraft carriers to China’s coastal waters and interfering with its internal national matters has pushed China to consider it important to defend itself and to build up its defences. I would prefer China to continue focusing on its economic improvement for the betterment of its peoples’ lives and to play its part in helping other countries especially third world countries in Asia and Africa. I feel China has made such miraculous economic improvements for itself and the world that some previously military powers are so taken aback by its success, they react with fear ( I think it’s more with jealousy like that of Cinderella’s step sisters). But if they had concentrated on improving their own economies and the lives of not only their own people and the people in third world like China has been doing, rather than throwing their huge national resources into war and armaments, they would have prospered like China has.

A core problem of the capitalistic system is that when capital groups grow big, they will try to control the government and seek for monopoly. Eventually the parties and the government become controlled by various interest groups. You see competition between the interest groups, but no one actually represents the public and no one actually represents the interest of the nation. So, the assumption of "if I were the USA government" is not valid, because such a united government currently does not exist. It is the military complex that is pushing for war, although they are using the mouths of the senators.

If this turns out to be true, it would show a clear softening of position vis-a-vis China and a rebuke for the Pro-USA, anti-China element that certainly exists within the UK parliament.
I work on border control as a day job and I see for myself the enormous amount of trade exiting and entering the UK to and from China. It is beyond my comprehension as to how certain factions see it beneficial to cut off such supply lines. Trade with China creates many, many jobs both in the UK and Asia. I understand the risks but this subject really does require balanced debate. The potential to go down the wrong road is clear.

Cyrus I couldn't agree with you more, your reiterating my sentiments exactly. The Australian Federal Government also looks as though they are conditioning the sheep mentality, why pick on a passive culture, just because Chinese has a substantial defence, does not mean they are aggressive. Chinese history shows the Chinese DNA have never built ships to invade other nations, where as many other nations have. China is purely about looking after its own territory.
Just look at China and Russia as an example. Why don't we ever hear something positive from western nations about China instead we hear just the putting down . Australian business relationships and China have prospered from each other. The Australian mining magnate Tiggy Forrest is the only high profile Australian that seems to mention his appreciation. As you have mentioned before Cyrus, it's best that all nations collaborates with China to achieve our common goal as humans, it's called survival not annihilation.

I guess all those hundreds of fishing boats sunk by other nations over the past couple months because warnings aren't sufficient is somehow not examples of China's belligerence and respect for economic zones belonging to other countries.
I guess the military confrontations with India last year are shining examples of diplomatic skill.
I guess the overnight exodus of foreign companies from China isn't because they're afraid of changes the CCP is imposing.
I guess the overnight exodus of foreign currency from the Chinese economy isn't because of new Chinese economic regulations.
I guess the consequences of the Chinese ban on Australian coal should be blamed on Australia and isn't China's sensitivity and belligerence.
If you think that history shows China doesn't build ships to invade other nations, maybe you should take another look... China now or will soon have 6 landing ship dock ships, each supposedly capable of carrying an amphibious invasion force of approx 800 troops with mechanized vehicles (tanks, armored transport). Although a lot more and different types of ships and aircraft would be needed for a credible amphibious action, it still shows how China has ambitions to at least threat to invade forcibly. These are obvious and unmistakable attempts to change the status quo, not simply defend what exists.

@@tonysu8860 everything you said is just rubbish…. The British and the French are currently in a row about fishing rights, this happens all over the world, not just China. There are border disputes with other countries too not just China. foreign companies leaving China is not China’s fault, the US started the trade wars which cause this problem. Australia and China had good trading relationship until the US corrupted Australia.

Also is it not China that is threatening Taiwan with nuclear force if they don't join them. How is this not aggressive grab a brain and think!!!! Also USA never had anything to do with why Australia and China have problems. Its the coronavirus they created at the Wuhan lab that they try cover up and lie about. When Australia wanted an investigation China acted like a immature child and tried to hide and lie about anything they could, make threats and have a tantrum. Good people have nothing to hide. Dishonest people like living in the shadows. If China was innocent and it was all a mistake or they had nothing to do with coronavirus an investigation would have been welcomed to save their dignity. But as we know China does not care about it dignity and spreads lies to cover up its evil.

@@bradlys4978 yet again, it’s getting boring…. Hong Kong is part of China and look at Taiwan’s history to understand why it’s also part of China, it’s been agreed by majority of countries so not sure why you decided it’s not…. The WHO had already investigated the Wuhan labs, so unless you have significant evidence to show it came from the Wuhan lab to put on the table, you can’t just make it up, following from your logic, you need to show us all your bank statements in the last 5 years because i’m accusing you of evading taxes, can you publish your banks statements on the internet to prove your innocent? You can black out your surname, address, and bank details, if you’re innocent and got nothing to hide it’s ok right? China has no intentions of invading any country, it’s history shows this, why you think they built the great wall? You think it’s to keep everyone in? 🤦‍♂️
Australia started attacking China first, it was unprovoked, they decided to cancel Huawei’s 5G based on what the US said even though there is no evidence and same with the covid theories and China reacted to this but before all this, China and Australia enjoyed a great relationship, so think about how Australia’s attitude changed, joining up with the UK and US to form AUKUS is a way to show that you’re not provoking China right? The US has a long term strategic goal to dominate the world for a very long time where Japan, India, UK and Australia is helping them to dominate Asia. I invite you to look up the history of the Marshall Islands and why the US is there…

Don't judge with the word communism, it is cold war thinking, but unfortunately even some senate in America still think and say this way.

US is in war with itsself ! - The number of prison inmates has been increasing steadily since the 1970s. Nowhere else in the world are there so many - both in absolute numbers and per inhabitant. According to the Prison Policy Initiative, a reform organization, more than 2.3 million people are in 1,833 state prisons, 110 federal prisons, 1,772 juvenile detention centers, 3,134 municipal prisons, 218 immigration detention centers, as well as military prisons, psychiatric hospitals, and other institutions .
