Beaufort Station - HO Scale Model Railway

  • Beaufort Station is based on the real location of Beaufort on the Western Main Line between Melbourne - Adelaide.
The era is based in Mid 80s with a lovely collection of VR, Vic-Rail, V/line & ANR Locomotives.
All the train represent the era correctly (except for my two shown in this video which represent an earlier era), all weathered the rolling stock has been weathered to represent the condition of stock in this era.
It's a very close representation of the real Beaufort as depicted in the 1980s.
The Overdubbed sounds I used in this video were all found on TH-cam.
I used sounds from the following channels:
    / denys2323
    / @donmoyses8376
    / @conegg
    / thelastnameismine
    / pheonics153
    / greensleeves94

Hi, I can do no more than totally endorse all the positive comments (and all the love) from all the other incredibly moved viewers. I'm a north coast NSW train lover who spent years in my Grandmother's house in Lismore, directly opposite the main engine sheds and shunting yards. A total paradise for a young train enthusiast. This has to be (even if it is Victoria!) the best and most convincing railway model I've ever seen. Thanks so much, you've given me a wonderful half hour which I shall revisit many times.

    Fffar out!
At one point I was wondering why the car didn't take off after the train went through the crossing I was was so lulled into a bygone era.
This is some exceptional modelling. The attention to detail is exceptional esp for lovers of our good *broad gauge* locomotives, rolling stock and infrastructure. The semaphores are so much a part of it. Even the eucs and grass are amazing.

I have enduring memories of watching tandem steam locomotives hauling both passenger and goods trains across the flats immediately to the east of Beaufort around 1954.
I guess that reveals me as an old codger.
    Thanks for reviving the memories.

@@michealproboscas3979 Always has been lots of VR stuff available, just they used to be predominately bra$$ and limited production numbers and now we are seeing hybrid and full plastic locomotives coming to market. They arent cheap still in a lot of cases but much more affordable than brass.
I recall lusting over model dockyard R class in the 80's a friend of my dads had on his mantelpiece when i was a lad and later in the 90's i boarded with a guy who had a huge collection, i think all major VR diesels, walker railmotors, a Derm and at least one steam engine that was an X class iirc.I could never afford them and i did drift away from railways (of all scales) shortly after.Passion has resurfaced of late, i ordered a K class the other day and bought a T just today.I say im not going to go too crazy buying lots but these things have a way of snowballing...

The weathering on the locos, rolling stock and even the rails is damn near perfect. I grew up in Melbourne in Broadmeadows near what used to be Metropolitan Dairies opposite the rail line and I don't recall EVER seeing a clean VR locomotive.
I remember all those locomotive sounds EXACTLY bringing back childhood memories. When I moved out of home away from Broady and away from the rail lines it took a lot of getting used to; not hearing the trains anymore. There was a signal about a hundred meters from my house and often the trains would stop and wait idling for a while then their engines would roar back their power and start to move again with all the rolling stock clanging back into motion.... All these sights and sounds took me way back to the days of the Taits and Harris trains as well.
Ahhhhhh, thanks for the memories. :o)

This is a brilliant effort on five counts. The layout is well done, a lot of time and effort and the scene is very well done. The owner has put alot of time and effort into the models, which are also brilliant. The train consists are good and bring back memories. But the time and effort to edit the sound to the trains, I take my hat off to the person who must have spent ages in the editing booth to match the sound to the pictures has done an amazing job. Well done again and for someone into the era and the modelling I can only hope I can get somewhere near this effort. Brilliant.

Obviously a brilliant layout. I've been following your videos for a while, and I know I'm echoing others' comment, but this is an incredible video. There are a lot of points where it's not clear that this is a model railway, rather than the real thing. That's an exceptionally hard trick to pull off, given the vagaries of depth-of-field and focusing. Absolutely fantastic work!

The scenery is amazing, well done and not overdone. The grasses of various lengths, even the weeds and grass in the tracks were well done. Trees, fences, animals, buildings, all well done and supporting your railroad scene.
The linkage setup running from the tower and down the tracks is an amazingly well done show of RR equipment. The large number and variety of cars and loads shown was great. Really like the passenger train that enables the rider's cars to go with them.

This a private layout that's unfortunately not owned by me.
I'm willing to give out the owners information but it will hopefully been seen at some model rail exhibition over the next few years.

Too bad all passenger trains run empty. Just one question: you date the lay out in the mid 80s. If I look at several trucs these all seem to be rather British and more 60s than 80s. Was this the case in Australia during the 80s, I just don't know. Nice trains though!

By the mid to late 1980s the non bogie equipment had been phased out. All Australian designed and air braked with auto couplers but still some 1800s British influences. Searching for VR Mark Bau should show you a great site with details of these Victorian Railways prototypes and history.

      Various stores and from exhibitions.
Only a few of the locos are mine, the majority below to the owner of the layout.
