@Elvinou der Dino Beastars in retrospect is not really that complex to understand nor is it anything out of the ordinary (aside from a few crazy bits in the manga, especially recently), but it kind of works in its advantage. Legosi can be perceived as a child who's experiencing society and develops with it, except does it at a later age and has more individual growth to head in. Makes for interesting development.

    • @Atlas_Redux
      @Atlas_Redux 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

@Elvinou der Dino Every character has deep set issues they're struggling with, and their issues interact with the issues of the others, creating a very complicated psychological drama / thriller. Not a single character could be left out without ruining the dynamic and how character development is made. It might be obvious how characters progress, but it's a wonderful writing dance where no single part would work without everything else.

Honestly I like the contrast and that we have both. Beastars has some funny moments but it leans into the darkness, and Zootopia has some dark themes, but it’s mostly a comedy. They both work really well in their respective spaces and I love both of them for similar but different reasons.
      Does that make sense?

If the term "judging the book by it's cover" had an anime equivalent it would be mistaking the anime opening for the actual anime's style.

Five things to look forwards to in Beastars.
    1. Some actual good 3D animation. (It exists apparently)
    2. An adult, gritty, realistic take on the world of Zootopia.
    3. An alternative and critical take on our own society and humanity, that _isn't_ preachy or overbearing, but rather just present within the subtext of tales from a world that works very differently from our own but for good reason.
    4. Great soundtrack
    5. Egg Sandwiches

Go watch seasons 2 and 3 and find out what AoT really is, because you wont have a chance to understand otherwise. And if you have already, go rewatch, because what real AoT is nowadays is a real as fuck human drama about one of humanitys oldest problems, groups of humans that dont understand each other at war...

10:33 A good reason to watch this anime is it tells a deep and meaningful story in a way that can only work in its setting. A lot of the other anime you have reacted to in the past were fighting series or shonen. What sets Beastars apart is it doesn't try to be an epic hype series, what it does is tell a deep story that has commentary about society, love, and being yourself.
A lot of people look at the anthropomorphic animal characters and get turned away, but anyone that has watched the series knows that the story wouldn't work unless the predator vs prey theme is there. Beastars is about personal weakness, overcoming your demons, and dealing with a cruel society. I think it genuinely has an important message that everyone should experience.
Another good reason to watch it is it's one of the few beautifully animated cg anime adaptations ive seen. It really opened my eyes to the potential of different animation styles and restored my faith in cg animation in anime.

Please react to Beastars. It's SO GOOD and the first season is only 12 episodes ... I haven't loved a show this much in a very long time. The character development, animation, voice acting (I've only watched sub), and themes are out of this world.
Anime has made me cry before, but I don't think I've ever connected with the characters as much as in Beastars. It's also not afraid to tackle very dark topics, some of which are a direct critique of aspects of our society. There aren't any humans, and the coexistence of herbivores and carnivores tells a story that's hard to pin down but touches on discrimination, repression, corruption, and addiction. But the themes are only really possible due to the setting. The anthropomorphic characters and the world they live in are designed to help tell the story, and it constantly shows. The fact that the characters are half animal has nothing to do with "it's for furries" and everything to do with "the author knows this is the best way to tell the story she wants to tell."
Also quick note, the opening isn't animated; it's stop motion! :O

Beastars isn't only a really good anime, but an opera with incredible potential. I'm currently reading the manga, and i can tell you that it only gets better and better. It deals with topics and characters in a way i haven't seen in a long time, and if the anime will continue to be faithful to the source material, it's going to be something that will be remembered in the next years as much as other great operas. So i really recommend to watch it and check the evolution of the saga for the future, because it has so much more to offer than people think.

Something to get you interested without saying to much. Well its one of These Animes were you will get surprised very often, your expectations get thrown out the window and characters suddenly have more Depth than it seems it first. Also it has a world that very slow gets bigger and bigger with each Episode without being to forceful in the World builduing, you just get excited to learn something new everytime.

The anime is in 3D made by stuidio orange and unlike what peaple say about it being only furries it is so much more than that it is a mystery along with having love in it but my favorit part is how great the character development is for it

It’s more of a “society of suppression” kind of thing. The main character has those feral instincts inside him all the time.
It’s definitely an amazing anime that you should definitely watch, and with the trailer for season two coming out I really recommend this anime because it really is a good show.

Beastars rocks, you should totally watch it. So far, there's only 12 episodes in the anime, and I *think* season 2 comes out next year. If you watch the show in Japanese, I wouldn't use Netflix's subtitles, last I checked they call a character known as Louis "Rouis". Really. I have some minor gripes with the dub, but it's otherwise pretty decent if you choose to go down that route.

This anime is brilliant, as many people have said it's basically an adult version of Zootopia. It's discussion piece on whether people are purely their baser instincts or stereotypes is very interesting. I highly recommend reacting to it.

I like that this anime can pull off having a stop motion opening. Also the 3D characters in the show itself were done rather well. A lot of the time if you paused it you could hardly tell it was 3D.
The show deals a lot with the personal struggles that come with living in a world full of anthro characters. It's similar to Zootopia like others have said, but it's more adult oriented. You'll understand if you watch it.

Beastars is such a good anime, you just have to either embrace or overlook the furryness. It's a really good look into that kind of society, the issues a world where carnivores and herbivores live side by side. It's a MUCH more adult take on Zootopia sorta. I really can't recommend it enough.
The animation is a mix of CGI and digital animation. I was cautious at first because I've seen so much terrible CGI in anime but this one changed my mind real fast it works really well.
Also Ending 3 is the best imo :P

I think that best way to go about this show is to think of zootopia. They both different stories with similar themes of social dynamics through anthro characters. But the main difference is that Beastars can a explore a lot more grey areas thanks to its higher age rating. So much like the opening and endings, it can touch on topics with a deeper/dark edge that doesn't leave always clean cut.

The day night thing is actualy showing the (Day) social personality how every one should be all friednly, (Night) True instinct that needs to be supressed for the society.
In Bestars the society doesnt like seeing Herbivores and Carnivores being togheter as you se with the Day Night thing. They can love each other but there will always be the danger of the instinct of the Carnivore kicking in.
Its a fantastic show, you need to watch it.

A beastars reaction would be interesting. The way i'd describe it, as someone else did, is a darker Zootopia about anthro characters dealing with...problems. The story is a romance story but it also deals with other things like crime, murder and fighting against your darker side. It's a romance story but its also a crime thriller, an action show, and a high school drama.
