      @@AdamfromFWCI It seems there is a type of intelligence that does not do well on taskmaster. People with good street smarts/ quick witted/practical minded versus just academic learning. Lots of these comedians are obviously intelligent but maybe this part of the brain is not as important in taskmaster.

    Because of mentioning Katy Wix as Barbara in Ted Lasso (love that) I have to say I knew her first as “Burn Victim Mary” from the UK sitcom ‘Ghosts.’ I love it, it’s the OG version and I really hope you start reacting to that as well! Lots of great English comedic actors to see there too. USA version has really picked up steam and praise but the real ones know the UK version is even better.
    TLDR: @FWCI please please PLEASE start reacting to the UK sitcom Ghosts!!

    One of my favourite series, and the first episode shows just how good it is.
    Hide the aubergines is the perfect opening task. It's not too crazy and it's a great way to demonstrate how each of them think. Ed belittling Alex is always funny.
    Ice Lollies representing colours is a fun one too, I'm always a fan of the food based tasks.
    Dramatic entrances are hilarious, and despite never having seen Streetcar, it's definitely the task that made me fall in love with Rose Matafeo.
    And then a straightforward fun live task. Definitely one I'd love to replicate sometime. (in Norwegian TM 'Kongen Befaler' they did a task where they had to eat the 2nd most Medister cakes, a meatball like thing, that was brilliant).
    Glad to see you like this lineup already, bodes very well for the rest of the series.

    Rose Matafeo dated James Acaster when she first came to London and apparently broke the poor guys heart, I'd never heard of her before Taskmaster and ended up with a bit of a celebrity crush on her by the end, which seems to happen a lot with me and Taskmaster! 🤣

    Jo is my icon this series. Her comedy style is super 'eff it' and cynical, but she pitches it perfectly for the format imho, and she seems game for most tasks except when its funnier not to be.
    Her one liners are so good because she is a panel show legend - for years she was just about the only woman you regularly saw on panel shows (until the rules changed and all-male lineups were banned.)
    Depressingly, this show was one of the first to do better than 4 men/1 woman in their lineups after the ban.

    • @AdamfromFWCI
      @AdamfromFWCI  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I am already loving the Team of Jo and David especially lol.
      What Ban do you mean?

    • @EmmyAngua
      @EmmyAngua 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@AdamfromFWCI It's a bit depressing. It used to be panel shows were mainly all men - not uncommon for the majority of episodes to feature all men, and never more than one woman (usually Jo). We're talking 2008 here, not the 60s! Then the BBC banned all-male line-ups not long before Taskmaster began meaning they had to have at least one woman on every panel show line-up. Roisin, Katherine Ryan and Aisling Bea were among the first wave of female comedians to benefit those new opportunities. This series having 3 women to 2 men felt like quite a big deal to me!

    • @AdamfromFWCI
      @AdamfromFWCI  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Thats really interested, and given how much i've loved Mel, Godliman, Liza and Knappet... It was for the best lol.

    • @AmazingChi
      @AmazingChi 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@AdamfromFWCI To add on, it was mostly due to shows like Mock the Week, proper panel shows, where in that case there was usually 7 men and only men in the early days. Gina Yashere was the only woman other than Jo that broke that up on occasion. I think the ban even got informally named after Mock the Week as well. It was important because Mock the Week was a pipeline for jobbing comedians to become established on TV (Ed Gamble is one such who came through that way).
      Weirdly, though, I think Godliman is the only woman off your list who went the Mock the Week route haha. Liza and Mel were already established and Knappett was a comedic actor, I think? But yes, it was crucial for people like Katherine Ryan, Aisling Bea and Sara Pascoe in their earlier days.

    So, your talk of stressful video games has got me thinking back 20 odd years ago - I wanna say we played it on Playstation - does anyone know the name of it, I wonder? Think it was Japanese, you were a guy on a stretcher that at the start of the level shot out the back of an ambulance and sped down roads needing to be steered to avoid objects - super fast and always had me on edge because I think the guy on the stretcher screamed the whole time until you hit something major and had to start again! Possibly something with Hospital or Emergency in the title of the game? Seriously one of the most anxiety inducing games I've ever played - which is saying something considering me and my housemates were hooked on the forbidden Thrill Kill for a few years - a truly gruesome and intense game if ever there was one!

    • @AdamfromFWCI

      @@AdamfromFWCI Mandarin is a general class of fruit. You have tangerines, satsumas and clementines as specific types of mandarin. Satsumas are easy to tell apart from the other two - thicker, looser skin, and no or very few seeds. Clementines tend to be sweeter than tangerines.
