    I love broody mama's. Next time though, please let the other hens share in mothering. They crave it, and it overwhelms one hen to have to train that many chicks.

    I enjoyed watching those sweet little chickens. And what a good momma. When I was a child growing up in North Carolina ( USA), we lived in the city limits . That meant we were unable to keep farm animals, ie chickens. But one of my uncles lived in the county where such animals were permitted. So, at Easter, I would get to go to the IFA store (international farmers association) and pick out a chicken. I would then raise it to full grown size, and then I’d take it to my uncles house where it could finish out it’s life. At least until it became dinner. I don’t know if any of my chickens ended up that way but I was a child. Who knows? I was happy knowing I could go visit and it would be taken care of. Chickens, in my opinion, make great pets. But they have a purpose and they are good at it. Enjoyed your video!

    With all due respect. Placing that number of chicks with one hen, certainly isn’t healthy for the chicks or hen.
    By nature the hen will lay a clutch of eggs. Instinctively she knows what she can brood and raise.
    With the continuation of altering a natural process, it will be passed on to the offspring. Instinct will slowly be lost, with negative consequences.

    • @JenniferVerdin
      @JenniferVerdin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I agree with you 100% the look on the momma hen when her broody buddy was gone and she had all the babies was horror. Way too many babies per momma hen. Wonder what that other momma hen thought when none of her eggs hatched 😞 .

    • @vancouvervixen4253
      @vancouvervixen4253 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed. No way for this poor hen to teach all those babies how to be good chickens, or to keep track of them all. Not a fan of altering nature for mans convenience especially to this degree unless you had the death of a second broody hen for example.

      Indeed & many will tell you that eggs are good for health, chicken meat is good for health etc. In reality they aren't healthy at all. They all are high in saturated fats & will eventually clog your arteries.

      Sajith Swami eggs and milk are complete protein by themselves anything in excess is detrimental for the body one or two eggs every few days are fine. Trans fats are the main evil saturated fats like coconut oil ghee eggs are perfectly fine all boils down to portion control. Even the so called healthiest of foods if just eaten with no exercise is probably more harmful than eating eggs and an active stress free lifestyle 🙂

      @@shikhab2250The difference between plant versus animal fat sources, Guasch-Ferre says, is likely due to the other nutrients found in those foods. Plant sources of monounsaturated fats are typically also rich in vitamins, polyphenols and polyunsaturated fats - longer-chain fats which are known to be heart-healthy. Sources of animal fats, on the other hand, tend to contain lots of saturated fat and cholesterol, which can contribute to heart disease.

      @@shikhab2250 People who ate lots of plant fats had a 16% lower risk of dying compared to those with lower intakes, while those who ate lots of animal fats had a 21% higher risk, compared to those who didn’t eat many of these foods. Replacing even a relatively small number of calories from trans fats, saturated fats and refined carbohydrates with an equal number from plant fats also seemed to cut a person’s risk of dying by 10 to 15%, the researchers found.

      Sajith Swami I am not debating the benefits of veggies and fruits they obviously are good for health and you have mentioned in your own comment "lots of" animal fat., as I mentioned before portion control is essential along with physical activity

    Great video but it's not a good idea to let too many chicks after one hen as she won't be able to take care of them all. 😍🐔🐣🐤
