Because of storm chasers studying these things is the main reason we have the warning and reaction times we do currently.
Yep, "Ryan Hall, Y'all," Reed Timmer, and a few other storm chasers are who I watch currently for weather.
One of the best stoemchasers I would recommend is Pecos Hank.

Storm chaser Reed Timmer drives a crew in the Dominator chase vehicle to observe and study tornadoes and weather events year round. The Dominator was built around a Ford F-350. He also uses regular street vehicles when necessary. I watched his live chase this week in Texas where he drove into a tornado and was spun and pushed all over the road. He rescued a father and daughter who were caught in the storm just in front of him. He put them in his backseat along with their dog Their truck was upside down in the ditch. Then they were caught in the subsequent giant hail storm. I find it fascinating, If you can't do a reaction, you at least need to watch these chasers.

Ryan Hall Y'all Storm Reports/Storm Chasers Ytude channel will allow you to follow storms in real time and his Storm chasers send live video of tornados they intercept. Watch Ryan Hall if you can, you'll learn so much.
America is in the middle of our tornado season. We have two to three tornadoes that are on the ground every 24 hours. Nebraska got hit really hardlast night. I'm a Joplin tornado survivor, so these are always fascinating for me.
Pecos Hank is an amazing place to start your tornado fascination rabbit hole, another is Reed Timmer. He is a chaser with one of those tornado intercept vehicles. "the ones that go inside tornadoes"
Skip talbot is also great.
Reed Timmer is an actual meteorologist/scientist. A little nutty too, but his storm chasing also has collecting actual data and using some really interesting instrumentation. Many storm chasers, including Reed, completely stop their chases if they encounter damaged homes, etc., and often are the first first responders to a scene and aid in search and rescue. Reed has a great video that shows the current chase vehicle he uses this year. The Dominator III. Fascinating thing.
Reed is a character. I have met him a couple times. He is always on the move but always has a minute for fans, too. Great guy.

I'm a NWS certified storm chaser, I've got young kids, so I don't get out much anymore. Hopefully when the kids are older, we can turn it into family thing. I live in the heart of tornado alley and had one pass within a couple miles of me last night. I was out on the porch watching for a funnel with the velocity radar up on my phone.
I have been certified for nearly 3 decades. Same deal: I had young children. Now, at 50-years-old, I am an empty nester (my youngest just moved out of home) and thinking about going back out.
I was up most of last night following Brandon Copic ,a chaser who was among the first to arrive in Barnsdall,Oklahoma after an F4 hit. Brandon doesn’t just chase,he helps with rescues and this was a nighttime event which makes it more difficult to visually identify. And right now Indiana and Michigan are getting multiple warnings and hits. All I have to offer is prayer…. By the way,Andre,I love your enthusiasm!❤️
That’s true of most storm chasers. Freddy McKinney went to check a house that had just been hit in Hawley, TX the family had injuries and he transported them immediately to the hospital, along with their dog. Connor Croff has rescued people, so have Reed Timmer and others.
@@janfitzgerald3615 I’m new to following storm chasers,so the only other one I’m familiar with is Reed. Do you have a favorite? I realized after I wrote that comment that it would be pretty callous of anyone to come upon a scene of such destruction and not want to help.

Tornado sighted in Portage, MI
I was watching Ryan Hall and Brandon yesterday/last night too. Crazy stuff. I'm still worried about Wayne, that man who was in his truck and was missing that Brandon talked about after he got out to help in Barnsdall. I kept trying to find out what happened to the guy, but I kept coming up with there was still 1 or 2 people unaccounted for - one of whom is that guy, I think. Hopefully he pops up okay.
Discovering that tornados make a "hook echo" on radar was a game changer in the mid 1970s. Tornado chasers had to gather the data on the ground so people realized what was causing the echo. I remember tornado warnings in western Kansas abruptly going from five minutes warning, tops, to a full half-hour. That saved a bunch of lives.
Something that the presenter didn’t mention is the way Storm Chasers honor their fallen. When Tim Samaras and his crew lost their lives tragically chasing a storm, the chasers will turn on their transponders (a lot of them have them to show their location to weather stations and for safety reasons) and the formed their initials across multiple states in tornado alley. On February 26, 2017 over 200 Storm Chasers got together, turned on their transponders, and formed the letters PB across the states of Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. This was in honor of Bill Paxton who had passed on the day before. His role in Twister inspired a lot of them to take up this dangerous job, and they felt that they should honor him. There are screenshots of computer screens showing their tribute.
Yes, Twister (1996) was a huge culture shifting movie. It starred the late great Bill Paxton and Seymour Hoffman. Helen Hunt, Alan Ruck, Carey Ewles were also in it. And ironically almost 30 years later, the soft rebooted sequel Twisters (2024) will be coming out this year. Unfortunately it looks more like a direct remake than an actual sequel from the trailer. Almost same storyline and everything else.
But the show Storm Chasers was really cool. It followed several teams of storm chasers across the Plain States in their armored vehicles that yes, could survive going thru the funnel of a tornado. How, you might ask? Well, the reason things (including vehicles) get thrown/sucked up into the air is because air gets underneath them and they go flying. Ever watch auto racing where cars go flying? Why does that happen? Because whenever enough air gets up underneath the vehicle, it has kind of an airfoil effect, and they lift the vehicle up and they go flying. Well for these armored tornado chase vehicles, what they do is to build in hydraulically powered armored skirts that drop down to the ground along the kick panel sides of the vehicle. The skirts may or may not also have spikes at the edges to which they can drive them into the ground which stabilizes the vehicle even more. It's really fascinating on how they build these vehicles. They basically take a used full sized SUV and modify the hell out of it to what you see there.
My favorite chaser was Reed Timmer. He was a cool around guy. Very nice guy too. He ended up marrying the weather girl at Fox News back when the show was still airing. She'd even go on chases with him on the show.
7:30 Yeah, we've been getting a lot of strong storms over here in Texas. So much rain came down that our lake in my area, for the first time in two years, is back up to it's normal level and still rising.

The Houston area is having severe flooding.
I've had 5 close calls this year. I'm in Ohio, and my town was almost hit by an EF-1 on the 14th of March, and from the SAME storm, an EF-4 dropped to the southeast of town, we had another EF-1 in April that missed to the southwest, we almost had a tornado drop in town a couple weeks after the March 14th storms, and recently, we had a brush in with a EF-2, which lifted short of a small (by small I mean less than 1,000 population, and a single traffic light) village to our southwest. What a time to be alive...as for the TIV, TIV2, and Dominators, they've all intercepted tornadoes. Dominator 3 (?) intercepted one last year, while the others have footage somewhere. TIV 2 can survive tornadoes up to EF-4, and I think that's the same for Dominator 2, and 3. The original TIV (the one you said was your new dream vehicle) can withstand winds up to EF-3 if I recall the show right, and Dominator 1 was rated for up to EF-2 but survived a EF-3 (again if I recall the show). Also, when ever Ryan Hall says my town name...it's usually to the basement, or out of town for us...we don't wanna be in town or above ground when the tornadoes show up.
Twister is a fantastic movie with the right mix of real science, humor, and a bit of 90s cheesiness. I saw in the theater when it was released, and it's been one of my favorites ever since. I definitely recommend watching that movie.
Twister is literally one of the best movies from the 90s.
There is companies that offer tornado tours here in the united states, if you ever visit try visiting in the spring time and book a tour!
Andre, do more tornado videos for sure, but you should also see some hurricane videos too...look for Hurricanes Camille (1969), Andrew (1992), Charlie (2004), Katrina (2005), Wilma (2005), Sandy (2012), Irma (2017) and Ian (2022).....that should give you 30 or 40 videos easily

Storm chasing is an incredible thing to do. I was actually out for my second Great Plains tornado season with my chase team when you released this video. The day before you released it was one hell of a day in Oklahoma with my team narrowly missing the most powerful tornado during our window. The reasons vary as one vehicle lost a windshield wiper about half an hour from intercepting that storm while the one I was in elected to target another storm while we were half an hour away. Storm chasers play many roles today, ranging from providing ground truth to the National Weather Service and the media, to acting as first responders as well as in many cases conducting research to help advance lead times.
Twister was a great movie. We are in the middle of the tornado season. There were several last night here in MISSOURI .
Reed Timmer might be ok with you reacting to a couple of his videos. He’s a meteorologist, tv weatherman. When he’s close to the event, he gets out helping stranded motorists. He’s a teacher. He’s trying to get the technical info out there with the love and energy about weather phenomena.
He’s incredibly elusive, but if you get him and you get his permission, it should be OK
Stromchasers is one of my all time favorite TV shows. It got me interested in meteorology when I was a kid. And now I can proudly call myself a meteorologist. Reed Timmer is the chaser I admire the most. Not only does he have his Ph. D. in meteorology and has been part of some great research, but he also introduced me to the importance chasers have in terms of rescue and first aid. In the show, there was a scene where his team was the first on scene and they went into search and rescue as well as giving first aid. That inspired me to get some medical certifications and rescue training in case I am ever in the same position.
Storm chasers are vital. They're often the first to spot a funnel on the ground, while meteorologists are still debating about the hook formation in the storm clouds. They can get on the radio & phone & tell 911 that there's a funnel on the ground, where it is relative to town; & to start the sirens. They're also often the first people on site to search collapsed buildings for trapped survivors.
I live in Texas and I'm a storm chaser, I chase tornadoes every spring. I'm actually going storm chasing later this week.
It's a ton of fun and also very dangerous. In 2013 a 1 mile wide tornado was coming towards me and it almost killed me. I was chasing the storm at night, the tornado formed, I rushed to my friend's house in town, and the 1 mile wide tornado hit the house I took shelter in. You could hear the roaring sound and glass breaking all around us. after the tornado, we went outside and trees were thrown into every house except for my friend's house.
Just wanted to thank the storm chasers out there. Because of you we are safer and learn so much more about this crazy weather! 🌪️

As someone who absolutely loves Tornado Intercept Vehicles, it puts a smile into my face seeing you find love for Tornado Intercept Vehicles!
My father was born in Nebraska which got a number of severe storms/tornadoes. My grandmother was so frightened of the weather, my grandfather moved the family to Michigan. While I live in Indiana, which gets tornadoes and we hear a warning siren in the summer, fortunately the town we live in has very high hills around it so a tornado passes overhead and rarely have ever touched down!
I had several vhs tapes of tornado programs as a kid. I’ve been fascinated with meteorology ever since. Twisters is a fun movie. Stellar graphics for the time. And Stormchasers was a great show.
The US military has been moving planes from the Midwest the past few days because of tornadoes to my state of NH, and others.
I can't imagine those vehicles surviving an F4/F5, maybe even an F3.

That's funny all our planes are here on Forbes field. The 190th Flys out of Topeka. Watched them flying touch and goes over my house the past week. They were here yesterday flying as usual. Yesterday was our highest weather threat in a while. So I don't think you are correct.
@@LisaEtter The military often moves planes when they're are under threat. They may not have found it necessary in your area.
I live in the Town Twistex was from. During Storm-chasing season you can see a bunch of storm-chasers at our major gas station. The movie Twister was my inspiration for learning about meteorology. I'm actually slowly working towards my degree in it. I myself don't plan on chasing but there's so much more behind the scenes to do that is so important, and I want to be a part of it.

There was a tornado in my area at 4:20 am this morning. The siren was screaming for 10 min as it traveled down the nearest highway, and apparently the only thing the tornado hit was our local National Weather Service building right before it dissipated.
Funniest face EVER at 18.11 !!! I must have replayed that bit a half-dozen times. LOL!!
May 7th, there were 8 tornados that touched down in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. None where I live but in 3 surrounding counties. Once a tornado warning is issued by the National Weather Service, local weatherman go live on tv. My weatherman was watching the radar and noticed a spot that indicated damage in the air - it was a tornado the NWS hadn’t announced yet. The things they can do with radar these days. They can track and plot where the tornado is going and what time it could hit communities.
The tornado intercept vehicles indeed are intended to go inside of tornadoes, and they have done so many times.
They don't generally drive them into the strongest tornadoes, as that is too risky. They usually go for no stronger than estimated EF2 or sometimes EF3 tornados. However, tests have shown that these vehicles are capable of withstanding EF5 level winds.
The tornado intercept vehicles also serve the purpose of reducing risk to the chaser even when they do not intend to enter a tornado. This protects them during accidental contact with tornadoes, RFDs, and debris fallout, as well as allowing them to perform otherwise too risky moves like a zero meter intercept.
You don't have to apologize for pausing! I know some people complain about it but I find that when TH-camrs are creators are talking over the people in the video that's annoying because you're trying to listen to The Creator but you're also trying to listen to the person in the video and everything gets mushed together! It's your channel, you do what you want to!
We've had waterspouts here in FL. There were some near NASA. The waterspout went from the ocean then hit land
I just recently invested some money into a radar and literally a day later we had a tornado warning. It wasn’t a PDS tornado (particularly dangerous situation. When it touches the ground) just some rotation in the clouds, strong rain, and wind
Storm chasing is one of my favorite pastimes. I’ve caught an EF4 and got within a mile of it. Loud and windy as hell but awesome to witness. The movie Twister and the show Storm Chasers (it’s on TH-cam) are the reason I became interested and pursued the pastime.
Just a few days ago there was a High end EF3 which means: If it had gotten much stronger it would have been a low end EF4 tornado (EF4 Tornado has winds between 166-200 MPH or 267kmh- 321kmh). It was just a couple miles outside my City of Abilene Texas . It was the third Tornado this one storm had spawned in about 45 minutes . The storm went on to spawn more tornado's on its path throughout the night . We got very VERY lucky my friend !
What’s really cool is if you know how to look for that “hook” signature and how to identify it you can actually see tornadoes on radar weather apps in real time.
I knew Tim Samaras personally (the chaser who died with his son and friend). Interestingly, though, it wasn't from storm chasing. Tim was a very active HAM radio operator during the off season and I got to know him a bit from that world. One of the smartest people I have ever talked to.
I watched Ryan Hall live last night because we had a tornado warning but my dish wasn't working so couldn't watch the news and they were spotting tornadoes on radar and warning people over 5 minutes before the weather service sent out warnings which is amazing and saves lives.
El Reno was the largest ever recorded, peak width about 2.6 miles. It only caused EF3 damage, but had a peak windspeed of 302 mph. Thankfully it was over mostly open ground at peak strength, unlike the Moore '99 beast.

Storm spotters are still a part of the storm monitoring. I took the course, its about 12 hours of study, or 2 hours an evening for a week.
André, to add to your comment on how picturesque storms are; there is an older musical titled The Mikado. One of the songs is "There is Beauty in the Bellow of the Blast".
I've heard several times on local weather that there has been a "radar-indicated tornado." That means no one with the training to spot one has, but the radar has a "hook echo," sometimes with debris easily seen on radar. It's especially helpful for ones that happen at night or are rain-wrapped. TV is usually preempted with local weather if there is a chance of tornadoes in the area.
My brother was a storm spotter/chaser. I was with him when he got a call that there was potential for tornados in the area we were driving. Luckily our aunt lived close so I made him drop me off first. Ive seen tornadoes across our grandparents' fields & that was as close as i ever want to get to them. My brother ended up taking a direct hit in his truck - it spun his truck around on the road but thankfully no major damage. Unfortunately the small town he was headed towards was mostly flattened. He was very lucky.

@@WriterOfMany he is...he didn't get hurt but quit storm spotting/chasing after he got married & wife got pregnant. He loved it but had too many close calls for him to risk himself anymore with a wife & kid at home. 😊
when it comes to intercept vehicles, the people who use them are experts in the field. They know what looks like a Tornado that's too dangerous to drive into or let hit them. A guy like Reed isn't gonna drive into an F5. For Tornadoes that dangers usually they'll just launch a drone to fly at distance but have a camera good enough to get great video. If I recall Reed has also launched a rocket into a Tornado.
It's Reed Timmer! He's nutty in the best way. We've had a tornado outbreaks the last two-three days, and more are expected today. Reed plus all the usual people -- Ryan Hall, Brandon Copic, Vince, etc., etc. There's too many to name -- will be going live later today to cover it.
Twister is awesome. Watch in surround sound. Amazing. Watch at night during a storm to make it better.

I have seen the TIV in person. Sean Casey brought it to my work where the company fixed many problems with his engine.

I've always wanted to be a storm chaser. I was a meteorologist in the Navy and love storms.
that tornado tank can infact go INSIDE tornadoes, the gray tank shown in the video (the tiv) has flaps that go down to not let the winds go under, and it has spikes that anchor it to the ground so it won’t slide. it went into an ef4 tornado with winds atleast 175 mph.

I'm watching Ryan Hall, Y'all. He just posted pics of damage near Kalamazoo. Currently the most active storms are in Michigan and Indiana. I'm in Ohio they just issued a tornado watch for my area.

Just watched your top 10 tornados and now see this! This answers your question around storm chasing. Many times they warn the warning agencies and they save lives
Tornadoes are so dang scary! I've never seen one but we usually get a few watches each year and several warnings. With that, I am not from this state and my home state NEVER gets any tornado warning or watches. We moved to the mid-west for my wife's medical and while its super clean, safe, and nice where we're at right now, we want to either move back home or more out west. My wife and kids are deathly afraid of tornadoes.
Sean Casey's TIV could intercept tornadoes up to EF2 safely for sure, as it did so, and likely could have survived an EF3 without taking extensive damage or flipping, but that was never tested out of an abundance of caution. Reed Timmer's Dominator 3 intercepted an EF3 a year ago successfully without any damage. It is likely it could withstand EF4 winds
The death of Tim Samaras, Paul Samaras, & Carl Young was deeply felt by the storm chaser & meteorologist worlds.
Among many other things, Benjamin Franklin was a scientist. Unlike much of the rest of the world, the US gets a lot of tornados, so good old Ben was among the first to really be able to study them. While there are some similarities, a dust devil and a tornado are very different.
Storm Chasers do save lives. The give warning of what tracks the storms are on and can inform the National Weather Service as to the severity of storms. While modern radar systems are better than ever, they can't give in-person reports.
Yes, Oklahoma is a part of the Midwest and is smack dab in the middle of Tornado Alley.
Watch Twister, it's a good movie and is even relatively realistic, though there is some BS. A "sequel" is also now being produced called "Twisters".
Eh, OKC and north of it is considered Midwest, but the South half is 100% Southern in culture and accent, especially near the Red River.
Storms all week this week. Indiana getting hit hard today. Many of these chasers also have search and rescue training so they will stop when they come to a damaged town and offer their abilities
We had tornadoes just last nigh, i didn't chase the m but the topography and build of my house means I can monitor a huge portion of sky and the directions I cant monitor are impassible for a tornado(100+ foot gullies and then they would have to climb a large hill with a minimal top surface area) so I spend the whole storm out watching to keep a weather eye as they say.
Oklahoma born and raised, and my dad used to take me and go chase tornados. It's fun, as long as you stay behind them lol. Once, once dropped behind us and chased us! They have a predictable direction...sort of. There's no need for anyone to die, yet they do! Darwin Award material. Storm Chasers have died too. One did exactly what everyone knows not to do. He went for shelter under and overpass. I've been in many tornados. They are terrifying, and pass quickly but do so much damage.
It’s true about the wizard of oz, I once saw it on tv before the whole December 10th to the 11th thing of 2021. Then I couldn’t stop watching stuff about tornados and then I just happened to stumble upon reed timmer predicting the tornado outbreak of dec 10 to 11th. I also watched his stream when he chased them. I was just fascinated that they could actually predict something like that, fascinated about how they form and I am mesmerized by their sheer beauty and power. I don’t know how exactly but it keeps me interested in life I suppose. I also live in Atlantic Canada where we basically don’t have tornadoes.
Although during that particular December there was actually thunderstorms because I think the gulf moisture came our way plus maybe some remnant’s of those crazy tornadic storms happened to swing by during that time as well. Anyways that also sparked my fascination with severe weather.
Another excellent channel for learning about tornadoes is the June First channel. He has a series called June First that covers different tornadoes in a documentary style. As a mechanical engineer, he also has a damage analysis series where he provides an example of how you can use damage to estimate wind speeds. He has fantastic graphics and does an excellent job covering everything. He also does some chasing and filming of tornados himself.
The waves at Navarre are mesmerizing and so dangerous. Shiver!
showing us the movie twister in school at like age 8 in the midwest was wild. messed me up for like 6yrs
Swegle failed to mention that Tim, Paul, and Carl were not in their typical convoy that day. They too used a much more robust vehicle than normal to chase... usually. That day, they were in a small Chevrolet sedan. They had no way of knowing that the El Reno tornado would be so historically unpredictable, large, and powerful. I still wonder what the outcome would have been had they chased somewhere else that day. The El Reno tornado was responsible for the deaths and injuries to upwards of 10 or more people involved with storm chasing, including crews from The Weather Channel.
I live in North West Tennessee and I have seen the early version of the dominator drive past my house during a storm while I was standing at my front door watching a major storm

I'm a subscriber to RyanHallY'all on youtube. He and his team has been so busy streaming and chasing tornado after tornado all over the midwest and south. Today there were multiple tornados in Michigan and Ohio. Ryan is very knowledgeable about weather and does a great job at keeping up on them. His subscribers donate to his cause so much that they have some of his team deliver meals, generators, and other supplies to the worst areas that get hit, not long after the areas are damaged. And the chasers always try to stop and give immediate help if they can and aren't keep up with the storm as it moves.
And yes, I agree that Twister is a good movie about tornados and chasing them.
When I went to Philly years ago you could stand very close to Ben Franklin’s grave. I believe it sits in a cemetery very close to the PA mint (where money is made).
Yes, we've had 3 devastating tornados with significant destruction in Oklahoma in the past week,,,Sulphur, Barnsdall & Bartlesville all got hit
I recall a science museum in Florida in the 1970s had a "Make-your-own-tornado" machine. It started spinning the air with sand (I think?) swirling so you could see how it twisted. Did anyone else see something like that in a local science museum?
watched the storm chasers show and there were two vehicles i remember one was Reed and the other was a guy who wanted to film a tornado from inside in imax which i think was released as a movie in 2011. they broke down and overheated a lot. Reed has a video about the new dominator out recently so maybe he’s got that problem worked out

Reed has successfully drove through many tornadoes in his dominator. Including just this last month.
Twister was one of my favorite childhood movies of all time and taught me what tornadoes even were. I became obsessed with tornados after it and used to build tons of those whirlpool things with 2 big bottles of soda and water taped together at the spout, like an hourglass. Then you'd shake it around and recreate a mini twister. Stormchasers was such a great show too, it felt and was REAL, I loved the Dominator squad and each group had their own little competition or friendly banter between each other alot like the movie Twister. Now is the best time to watch Twister because the reboot/remake (?) is coming out soon, I think its called Twisters. I recommend the movies and the show alot, the storm chasing vehicles were unbelieveable and awesome engineering. And yes, it could totally survive in a tornado! But it was still crazy as fuck to do. From what I remember, the cars were armored like that to block debris from the tornadoes and the peculiar shape of the car (the edges that almost touch the floor) are used to turn it into like a suction cup. The suspension would lower it to the ground and even had little like ground anchors that stuck into the ground. Using physics, theoretically the tornado could harmlessly pass right over the car and not be able to lift it up (like you trying to pry off a suction cup by force straight up). And it was proven to work a few times by them, then it caught on and many storm chasers started building the tornado cars. That movie taught me how to survive a tornado even though I live nowhere near torando alley. Either you get under a bridge, underground, or worse case your bathroom tub and stay away from windows. Reed Timmer goes into tornadoes atleast once a month. He usually has streams up every other day of him in his intercept vehicle, the Dominator 3.
The TIV, Like he said, is supposed to enter tornadoes, It has stiff armor and and anchor poles which lock in the ground to not get lifted.
Texas and Oklahoma Have been hit hard with tornados for the past week. I have friends who have had their town leveled. Nothing left.
Yes Twister is a good movie. We get a tornado warning once or twice a summer. We get warnings 30-60 min before and we can watch where it is down to the minute on radar on the local news weather report. My favorite movie is The Wizard of Oz.🌪

Twister is definitely a classic, great film editing and cgi for its time. Another great tornado movie is "Into the Storm". Same concept as Twister, just made in 2014 i beleive instead of 1996.
Tornadoes can form just about anywhere in the United States. We’ve had some here in Massachusetts over the last few years.
10:16 Oklahoma City is like THE spot for tornadoes, with Moore to the south, where 1999 the probably strongest tornado hit, or El Reno to the west where the widest tornado hit, killing 3 professional storm chasers
The tivs defenitely can go in tornados, but none of them have tried to intercept an ef5, even they run away from those. They generally try to intercept less violent tornados.
Yes, tornado intercept vehicles are a real thing. I've been up close (as in touching) Sean Casey's TiV2 that he used to shoot his IMAX documentary about storms and I got to meet Casey. I've also mentioned Ryan Hall Y'all and his channel, if you want to watch how this whole tornado thing goes, how the meteorologists find them on radar and how the warnings they can give are helpful, his is a great channel to watch. Often times he's on for 10-12 hours following storms and checking in on storm chasers. If you hit subscribe, and the bell, you get plenty of notice he's planning on going live. He's got quite the setup.
I'm not a storm chaser, but I've been fascinated with tornadoes since watching The Wizard of Oz way back in 1964. While I know you can't do any reaction videos of modern storm chasers, I do recommend you watch a few videos of Pecos Hank.
There were some storm chasers from The Weather Channel that were caught off guard and their vehicle flipped several times. Look for the special from TWC. They also did a special on the three that were killed.
The most dangerous part of storm chasing is often the driving. You have to remember maybe 1% of a chasers time in a storm season is actually spent around tornadoes.

There was been deadly tornadoes occurring for the past two days, one in Oklahoma, one in Michigan and it's likely there will be more over the next few days. Luckily, the storms haven't been producing anywhere near the number/size of tornadoes that they COULD have. 2024 has so far been a relatively lucky year, tornadoes haven't been so bad. Check out the 2022 season though, that was pretty rough.
I live nearby where that infamous Tri-state Tornado came thru nearly 100 years ago. A couple of towns in southern Illinois were hit then. Thompsonville and West Frankfurt. There was still visible damage from that tornado in Thompsonville as late as the 80s. It was a building that took damage and they either never repaired it or never tore it down. But anyway, this is the general region where actor John Malkovich is from. He was from Christopher, which is just 8 miles NW of West Frankfurt. I only bring that up because John's cousin was a teacher friend of my mother's back in the day.
And then on a more personal side note, a tornado hit my town in SE Illinois on Leap Day 2012 at around 5am iirc. It missed my neighborhood by about 2 miles, but it totally destroyed a brand new shopping strip mall adjacent to our also brand new Walmart Supercenter. They rebuilt it a few years later. But for awhile, there were rumors that they weren't gonna rebuild it. Fortunately only a handful of people were killed that morning. Either like 3 or 4, can't remember exactly. But I think a couple of them were in a trailer part near the Walmart.
