Thank you Buck. I keep seeing that in my Facebook group. People who fell off or something and now they're afraid. They want to know how to get over it. I didn't have an answer for them. You just gave me one.
Knowledge and control. Put more control into the horse and learn WHY it happened. The first step is the hardest. After a few seconds of being "brave" (with knowledge and increased control), the fear begins to pass. But it can take awhile to totally get rid of it. I grew up on horseback, on a ranch in South Dakota. I was well acquainted with how horses behaved. Most of my horses were fairly well mannered, with a few minor exceptions. Then, one day, my younger brother died in a car crash. He was 24 years old, I was 36. I didn't think I was having issues with my own mortality. But, after a couple months, I became REALLY uncomfortable on my horses. Even the really well broke ones. I never went through any accidents or trauma. I believe my brother's death was to blame for my sudden fear of death. I became so uncomfortable that I sold all my horses. And I didn't ride a horse for 10 years afterward. Then one day my wife decided to drag home a well broke horse, just for the fun of it, she said. Well, here comes all that fear right back. And I was surprised at how much I had forgotten. But in relearning things, I increase my knowledge. And the horse my wife brought home was dead broke and light. After a couple riding sessions, most of my fear has passed. Now I'm not going to say that I am 100% cured. But I can at least get on one and feel comfortable again. But I won't be starting colts anymore. At least not just yet...

'depends on how well you like to climb" love that!
Best video I have seen from ANY trainer on TH-cam! thks
The best trainer = your horse.
I know its been a while but check out Warwick schiller
Be picky about who you watch and learn from. Trainers are a dime a dozen. People like Buck are few.
This should be at the start of all your videos and the topic of Disc 1 !
Knowledge melts fear.
my dream. you totally understand fear and the impact on our lives.
Is BUCK STILL AROUND ?? I HAVENT PERSONALLY SEEN ANY NEW VIDEOS OR SCHEDULES OF HIM HOLDING CLINICS.
Yep. Still traveling the country putting in clinics. Has a full schedule up for 2022

Depends on how well you want to climb.

A round pen full of horses that are scared?? Wow. Looks real safe....not.
The horses aren't scared, the people are
You should see it in person. It’s amazing the change in the human and the horse.
No bad ideabullying horses .stupid.
Buck really thinks he's clever. He's his biggest fan! He knows his stuff, but he's not very humble is he!
