This allows for more specific mage/range upgrades, increasing only Light/Med/Heavy ammo accuracy/damage, and Mage upgrades can now include more Spell specifics for certain niche situations/Boss encounters/Skilling. (as i believe in specific Skilling gear/spells usefulness for Skilling as well is quite on the WEAKER side at this moment in time for OSRS, this opens room for maybe items in the future that buff Skilling in diff ways via more Rewards or XP, etc) This update will be the huge PvM meta shift we NEED before any new prayers or items come into the game (even if and when they do, this update will allow more room and leeway for those prayers/items/systems) and updates like this are first and for most important for the future foundation!
I like that this promotes spreading out your gear tabs instead of just tbow, scythe, and shadow. It's good to create more spaces for good gear. I don't need to whip every task. As long as we keep the attack speeds and tick system how they've been then I don't see how this makes the game any less Runescape. I literally always thought in my head to use what things felt like they should have been weak to since I played as a 10 year old. It made the game more immersive, what else is the point of RS?
I'm a 10year verteran and i don't think the game has ever been in a better state. Another great update, cheers osrs team. The game is going from strength to strength.
the feedback seems pretty positive around this change. glad to see this game look to the future BEFORE intense power creep ruined all low and mid level combat scenarios. i can imagine a future where wearing full max strength would let you 3 tap bosses like sarachnis
This is truly needed! Love the update idea! It allows so much variety, and overall health and growth for the game. 10/10 in my opinion. 😃👍🏼👍🏼 - Machinist_2
I saw this as the implicit direction of the new sunlight/moonlight crossbow bolts and I'm really happy to see it being implemented more broadly. Like imagine being able to imbue existing weapons to do elemental damage at the expense of a raw damage output debuff?
I think that would be really cool too. The idea was posted many years ago as well as players having an elemental affinity as well. Hope to see it come true.
This sounds like the best way to bring combat up to contemporary standards by introducing more variety in terms of damage output while avoiding power creep. If you can't move UP in terms of damage, you have to create a way to widen OUT the variety of gameplay and this is the path forward to do so in terms of combat.
All good changes, as others have mentioned light ballista being in med/light instead of heavy would be amazing so that it isnt just a worse heavy ballista. Only other thing is to not take it too far? Im not gonna cry EoC and i think this is a good idea, but i do think a healthy amount of caution is warranted. As long as its just good changes like making more content better to do, breathing some life into the game instead of changing it entirely like night and day.
This is awesome. I like that this suggests people to use different weapons. Also, "elememtal weakness" has been in the game forever, as Stab/slash/crush so its nothing crazy.
Love thia idea, we already have monsters weak to crush, stab etc so it only makes sense to include magic weaknesses too and each spell is useful, rather a stepping stone to using your best fire spell unlocked. Im wary about the ranged option but i do conpletely get it. Would mean that we get more BIS ranged gear other than a twisted bow, handcannon anyone for BiS heavy ranged option?! I just wouldnt want to see gear having a % reduction of cetain spells because it would make things so confusing personally. Having gear sets give a 15% reducion to earth spells and 65% reduction to fire spells, would be far too confusing. Id be happy just keep it at weapons for now.
Gotta love the RuneScape fundamentalists that complain about literally every combat change regardless of how good it is. All of these changes seem pretty great to add more variance in weapon and style use.
They’ll complain, and then they’ll abuse it and whine if it gets changed. See blowpipe. I knew so many who hated it initially, then for what…two years were against any change once they got theirs.
Giving elemental weaknesses more impact is nice, but these changes will just make it a game of "match the color," where the color itself is entirely irrelevant. Before, they at least had the separate identities of different max hits. To truly give the different elements identity, they should each have unique effects, like fire having a burn chance, earth having a chance to briefly stun or bind, water decreasing the enemy's damage, air being able to push you back... Similar to the ancient spells.
I’d say that could be on “elemental mage gear”. Gear that buffs elemental types. Like how south of Falador you had fire air earth and water mages. Like that, but with added effects.
Quite literally "match the color" has been done in all 3 raids. Quite frankly it's annoying outside of Raids, but oh well. Everything passes polls ever since the 70%+hidden votes change. They could add EOC and people would shove money into the fire with a smile on their faces praising Jagex.
I agree, this would have been a better direction to explore. I just hope they break all of these ideas out in the poll, because I'm heavily against some things but think some of their suggestions are good.

(as i believe in specific Skilling gear/spells usefulness for Skilling as well is quite on the WEAKER side at this moment in time for OSRS, this opens room for maybe items in the future that buff Skilling in diff ways via more Rewards or XP, etc)
This update will be the huge PvM meta shift we NEED before any new prayers or items come into the game (even if and when they do, this update will allow more room and leeway for those prayers/items/systems) and updates like this are first and for most important for the future foundation!
I am very much looking forward to these changes, open up that design/reward space!
Wow making ballista relevant ?
@@bduckett2522Brother he used an ahk herb cleaning script and it was like 5 years ago move on.
Can’t wait this is sick
I like that this promotes spreading out your gear tabs instead of just tbow, scythe, and shadow. It's good to create more spaces for good gear. I don't need to whip every task. As long as we keep the attack speeds and tick system how they've been then I don't see how this makes the game any less Runescape.
I literally always thought in my head to use what things felt like they should have been weak to since I played as a 10 year old. It made the game more immersive, what else is the point of RS?
I have been wondering about elemental weakneses since day 1. Glad they bringing them finally :)
I'm a 10year verteran and i don't think the game has ever been in a better state. Another great update, cheers osrs team. The game is going from strength to strength.
HUGE FAN! Sounds like what EOC should have been! Full support.
the feedback seems pretty positive around this change. glad to see this game look to the future BEFORE intense power creep ruined all low and mid level combat scenarios. i can imagine a future where wearing full max strength would let you 3 tap bosses like sarachnis
This is truly needed! Love the update idea! It allows so much variety, and overall health and growth for the game. 10/10 in my opinion. 😃👍🏼👍🏼 - Machinist_2
This is how you keep a game alive!

@@bduckett2522 who hurt you, buddy?
This sounds like a lot of fun and I’d be very keen to see these implemented into osrs to expand the games capabilities even further 👌
I liked these changes. It will make our game more diverse.
It will make the game more complicated
This is such a great update, hopefully it will succeed in its goal!
This elemental aspect also can change the game with new weapons, where they could potentially have elemental aspects to them. Which is neat.
I'm down for this (I haven't even finished the video)
I agree (I haven't even started the video)
1000000000% love this, this is a breath of fresh air into the game and I think this is a posative change overall.

Id be happy just keep it at weapons for now.
all the homies love coxie and paak, insane video quality as usual
Gotta love the RuneScape fundamentalists that complain about literally every combat change regardless of how good it is. All of these changes seem pretty great to add more variance in weapon and style use.
They’ll complain, and then they’ll abuse it and whine if it gets changed. See blowpipe. I knew so many who hated it initially, then for what…two years were against any change once they got theirs.
I love this idea especially since it incorporates elemental runes finally!
