No one seems to mention how amazing their acting skills are. I mean, their facial expressions, gestures and and body language are just so natural and perfect. It is such an elegant and high-quality short film.
That final scene was fucking so beautifully shot. The music. The scene. The way they kissed. The lighting. The way everyone realized it doesn't matter because they are happy. They way they learned to accept themselves. MAGNIFICENT!
It wasn't accurate. Homosexuality was at best tolerated during the classical period. It was never accepted among common people. Good example is Nero's boyfriend. So he could display him in public he castrated him and made him dress as a girl. You could not be in the Roman army and be openly gay. Revisionist history doesn't do the LGBT community any favors.

Netflix needs to green light this project as an original series. I want, actually no, I need at least a full season of this story. The script, direction, and acting by the two leads was exceptional. I rarely comment on any videos, but this one touched and moved me so much. My heartfelt congratulations to all involved!

You don't need to force yourself to talk to women if you're not gay. That's what I do. I don't understand people who think that, just because you're never seen talking to women it means you're gay. I know many women may find men who identify as gay more interesting. But what about the moment they see them in bed with another man ? They may stop being s£xually interested in the guy. In my family, we don't talk about love or intimate relationships regardless of its nature
Benjamin parlait de la créativité au niveau de la mise en scène. Effectivement la dernière scène est vraiment bien réalisée. Les jeux de regards, la musique qui change en fonction de l'action, ce passage très fort presque en silence, là où tout se bascule. Et puis le dernier regard face aux spectateurs pour leur signifier que maintenant c'est à eux de changer. Brillant.

Dans un long métrage ils ne peuvent pas se permettre de retracer la ligne du temps sur l’homosexualité, alors dans un court métrage encore moins. Alors, non la « pensée critique » je ne l’ai pas survolé et je trouve ce passage d’une extrême justesse vu le temps qu’il possède dans le film pour que les spectateurs puissent tout comprendre sans que ça ne devienne chiant et sans que cela prenne 10 minutes.

Excellent. J’accorde une attention toute particulière au professeur d’histoire qui est vraiment génial dans son rôle. C’était LE dialogue du court-métrage et il l’a fait d’une manière si naturel et sincère, on avait même pas l’impression qu’il jouait, félicitation à lui et félicitation à tous les autres acteurs et figurants! Puis évidemment félicitation et merci au producteur pour ce film :)

Finally! A film about homophobia/internalized homophobia that is both realistic and doesn't end in tragedy. I wish I had seen this when I was in high school. It would have saved me years of longing and heartache. Sensitively acted and beautifully shot. Bravo to all of you!!!

I agree. My experiences through youth and into adulthood were so shameful, full of hatred and just negative. It's so wonderful to experience the happily ever after so many mainstream heterosexual couples get. The build up was tense but the pay off is well worth it.

It is true after the death of Jesus and birth of Christianity that Church ban the practice of Homosexuality, but you know the real reason why? they did this, they realize that Homosexuals' doesn't gave birth to children!!!!!. This is much more than just another one film on homophobia. The teacher enters and delivers his message in such a beautiful and natural manner that we couldn’t have expected it. The opening scene is also spot on while Thomas’ eyes are searching for his own reality. An establishing shot to the entirety of the film that shows how to reach audiences within a minute. Controversial feelings against their own desires, enlightened by a cinematography that is worth feature films and beautiful sets with great attention to detail. Some deeper shades by places achieved with slow motion, a close-up on their hands as he leads him on the path of truth, and finally looking at the world together as a global message of acceptance. In addition, a making of just as good that shows dedication and professionalism on set and which is another way of interacting even more with the audience. This is the way of success. Well done! Your message has been delivered and your film watched as far as Australia.

A deeply felt film that covered a lot of ground about coming out. Thomas not only came out himself, but he brought Esteban with him. I loved the defiance in the last frames.

Les lesbiennes excitent plus parce qu'elles sont objectivées par le regard masculin hétérosexuel, qui les voit comme de potentielles proies soumises à son désir, en même temps qu'il les voit comme des déviantes à "redresser". Il faudrait selon certains que seuls les autistes jouent les autistes, etc. C'est bête puisque c'est le métier de l'acteur d'entrer dans la peau de personnages différents!
@@damienmg9291 il faudrait surtout que les autistes aient accès à des roles et que les neurotypiques qui jouent des autistes ne les jouent pas avec clichés (c'est pas toujours le cas mais c'est la question). Imagine une époque où les roles féminins étaient à des hommes déguisés en femmes et les rôles masculin à des hommes, aucune place pour les femmes. Tu dirais quoi. Que au moins on devrait laisser les rôles féminin aux femmes non ? Que les hommes si parfois ils le jouent bien, dans un cadre pareil , ils ont tendance à jouer leur vision des femmes pleine de clichés qui sont pas forcément bien. C'est ça la question derrière. Pas faire la police et dire que plus jamais on ne peut jouer un personnage qui es différent de nous. Aujourd'hui la majorité des femmes sont jouées par des femmes. La majorité des hommes par des hommes. Mais il se peut qu'une femme joue le rôle d'un homme et un homme celui d'une femme, on appelle ça un rôle de composition et ça peut être très très bien joué. Bah c'est pareil pour les rôles de handicaps, les roles de LGBT etc. Forcément si l'acteur le vie il connaît mieux le vécu donc c'est plus facile à jouer et il a moins de recherche à faire (ce qui veut pas dire que quelqu'un qui ne le vit pas ne peut pas très bien le jouer, d'ailleurs les acteurs homosexuels jouent très bien des rôles hétérosexuels par exemple et des acteurs hétérosexuels jouent très bien des rôles homosexuels), mais surtout si ces personnes ont beaucoup moins de place parce ce qu'on leur laisse pas jouer des rôles différents en les réduisant à une de leur particularité (cas plus fréquent dans les handicaps) et qu'en plus on les laisse pas jouer les roles avec cette particularité (ce qui est mécanique si des personnes qui n'ont pas cette particularité ont toujours ou presque ces rôles) , il y a vraiment un problème. Le problème c'est de ne pas donner d'occasion de jouer à des catégories entière de population. (La meilleure solution étant de donner des rôles de tout à tout le monde ) Bref ce que je veux dire c'est que c'est pas le problème d'un film ou d'une pièce de théâtre , c'est un problème lié au fonctionnement de l'industrie en gèneral et que personnes s'offusquerait si on disait pas aux autistes par exemple : 'Mais tu peux pas jouer une personne neurotypique vu que tu es autiste.' Dans le même temps où on fait en très grande majorité jouer que des personnes neurotypique pour les roles de personnages autistes.

Wow, the scene at 13:30 is legitimately some of the best acting I've ever seen. Love how the one guy can simultaneously be rage filled against him because he doesn't fully understand it and yet at the same time you can see all the passion and longing he gas for him. A very good movie with an excellent intent....with an ending that every open minded person could only hope would be...but in the real world, things don't often turn out this way......Everything said by the teacher in the movie is so very true, but unfortunately, ignorance and hatred are still strong obstacles to people being truly free with their feelings.

The way in which the last shot showed the two main protagonists kissing and for a brief moment they formed a heart with their heads and arms. Just pure magic. The movie is a masterpiece! ❤

This really feels like a mix between SKAM (the opening scene and the dance scene with the eye contact) and Baisers Cachés (the fact that the teachers comes out to the entire class because the class is homophobic). Really liked it.

This is an excellent short and could really work as a full-length movie. The actors playing Esteban and Thomas are brilliant, especially in that first lip-locking encounter after the spin-the-bottle incident. Esteban is so full of self loathing and rage due to the inner torment of his sexuality that it finally erupts in unexpected passion when he starts kissing/mauling Thomas. After Esteban left, Thomas was so confused and in shock, almost as if he felt sexually assaulted. Then as it sunk in, he acted very differently in their next encounter and even became a little aggressive in their next one after that. This could easily become a 90-minute film when we see the aftermath of Esteban and Thomas not only coming out as gay but as a couple. I hope the obviously talented writer is considering that.

This short film should be screened in all secondary schools nationwide. It's very good approaching the issue of coming out, coming to terms with your sexual orientation
this short film was incredible, the dialogue, the cinematography, the music score, most of all the symbolism. i adored the cinematography and symbolism in this film! the way Esteban holds onto his girlfriend during the prom dance scene as thomas approaches him, he looks at thomas in fear, his eyes are screaming no not yet and in response he clings onto his girlfriend tightly, the camera shows his hands just grasping the skin of her back conveying how he hides behind her truly in reality, conveying how behind his touches which communicate love and admiration there is desperation and desire, for all but her. the way they kiss as if no one else is in the room, and when they finish the best and my most favourite scene in the film unfolds, they stare directly into the camera, at us, they stare at us as if they are telling US the audience , what? i accept myself, and so it’s YOU that needs to change, just as the man had told him. it gave me chills. the story was wonderful, although there were times i couldn’t stand the character of Esteban ahaha, i hated to see how he projected his internalized homophobia out on thomas, the scene where he insults and kissed him made my stomach twist with both pity and anticipation. pity for thomas that perhaps his first real kiss is laced with confusion and fake hate, but anticipation for what is to come now that we know he is truly gay. it was just perfect, well done!!!
Not only that, but for when they stare at the camera the way it goes it eye level I felt like I was at the dance and it made me feel like I was apart of a judgmental couple and really put me in there, it was amazing

What a lovely film. I found it particularly touching that the people who truly helped the main character were all LGBT men from an older generation. It's such a nice touch, because generally speaking, us LGBT folks have to rely on each other when dealing with homophobia.
i just loved everything about this short film. i could feel what the actors were portraying and feeling. i just wish that people would be more accepting of the lgbtq community and not treat them so differently. it’s freaking 2023 and it’s time everybody grows up. need more teachers like the professor in this film who can educate more about this and encourage youngsters to accept people the way they are. “It’s the society that needs to change, not them”

When you feel people staring at you, don't look away. You look at them right into their eyes. You keep staring right at them. Like saying: "Yeah that's right, I accept myself!"
I actually do that naturally but i only recently noticed it, it's super awkward but i can confirm it is imposing... or the other guy judges me and thinks i have weird social skills... either way, looking a person in the eyes brings presence and if you want to make a point, it is key

I still don't understand why people think that gay people are weird, I am not gay, I am conservative, believe in traditionalism, traditional families, etc. anyways, despite me having opinions and ideals, I fully accept gay people and bisexuality, it is natural and it is not a big deal who people are attracted to, some people are ignorant and immature in our world and they can't just accept other peoples opinions.
In my school being homophobic it's like a clock out immediately. I remember back in 9th grade a student was being homophobic to a gay boy, I really didn't know who the boy was and couldn't care TBH, but when the homophobic boy said a horrible thing about the gay boy I didn't hesitate to defend him, my friends backed me and him up. He ended up getting expelled for a whole week. I became friends with the boy and now he's my boyfriend. ❤️
At first, I was kinda irritated that Thomas was the one to come to Esteban at the end bc Imo it would've been more impactful for Esteban to do it and by doing so to show that Thomas means a lot to him. But then I rewatched the scene and I saw the immense fear in Esteban's eyes and that made me realize that he wanted to do it, but was too scared to do it. I guess Thomas saw it too and that's why he decided to do it. Really brave of him.

I rarely comment on videos but this short movie is too profound, too significant and too powerful to not to. And I must add that this simply needs to continue as a movie. That first scene under the stairs is just wow, amazing acting from Esteban, it was like he had two people inside of him, one hating himself for who he truly was, and one desperately wanting to be with Thomas. No words for the final scene, it was perfect. I can't help but saying that in the end Esteban's great fear wasn't coming out, but losing the other guy.

Tout est parfait ! Le cadre, la diversité et l'évolution des personnages... Ce court-métrage, qui souligne les attitudes homophobes du quotidien, montre qu'une autre voie est possible : un monde dans lequel tout le monde pourrait aimer, simplement et naturellement, en suivant son cœur, sans avoir à se préoccuper du sexe de l'autre et encore moins à se soucier du regard des autres. Il serait temps que TOUS les couples soient accueillis de la même façon quel que soit le sexe des partenaires. L'acceptation de l'autre facilitera l'acceptation de soi. Incroyable d'avoir réussi à faire passer tout ça en 35 min avec des jeux de regards d'une émouvante sincérité. De nombreuses récompenses amplement méritées !

I just wanna comment on the character who said "oh so he's your type?" So casually to his friend. That's an awesome way to react, I love it. I also love how the other character didn't act too offended, just "no, no way! I was checking out her." It was just a very wholesome interaction.

LOOOOOOVED THIS!! I'm so impressed with the acting. These two leads knocked it out of the park! The scene under the stairs was one of the most intense and heartbreaking scenes I've seen in a short film. I truly enjoyed the teachers explanation on homosexuality and loved how that moment turned things around for our characters. We live in a world where being your authentic self is still something to be hidden or ridiculed. But that last scene is a truly beautiful moment. Bravo to this film and hope more Queer films help others understand the importance of love and acceptance.

It wasn't accurate. Homosexuality was at best tolerated during the classical period. It was never accepted among common people. Good example is Nero's boyfriend. So he could display him in public he castrated him and made him dress as a girl. You could not be in the Roman army and be openly gay. Revisionist history doesn't do the LGBT community any favors.

Netflix needs to green light this project as an original series. I want, actually no, I need at least a full season of this story. The script, direction, and acting by the two leads was exceptional. I rarely comment on any videos, but this one touched and moved me so much. My heartfelt congratulations to all involved!

Benjamin parlait de la créativité au niveau de la mise en scène. Effectivement la dernière scène est vraiment bien réalisée. Les jeux de regards, la musique qui change en fonction de l'action, ce passage très fort presque en silence, là où tout se bascule. Et puis le dernier regard face aux spectateurs pour leur signifier que maintenant c'est à eux de changer. Brillant.
Moi je suis complètement d’accord , je n’ai jamais vu un film ou court métrage gay de la sorte , pour une fois on parle pas de sida, de sexe, de puterie, mais seulement d’amour , de gens qui s’aiment , la simplicité ..... la scène finale m’a boulversé...

Dans un long métrage ils ne peuvent pas se permettre de retracer la ligne du temps sur l’homosexualité, alors dans un court métrage encore moins. Alors, non la « pensée critique » je ne l’ai pas survolé et je trouve ce passage d’une extrême justesse vu le temps qu’il possède dans le film pour que les spectateurs puissent tout comprendre sans que ça ne devienne chiant et sans que cela prenne 10 minutes.

Excellent. J’accorde une attention toute particulière au professeur d’histoire qui est vraiment génial dans son rôle.
C’était LE dialogue du court-métrage et il l’a fait d’une manière si naturel et sincère, on avait même pas l’impression qu’il jouait, félicitation à lui et félicitation à tous les autres acteurs et figurants!
Puis évidemment félicitation et merci au producteur pour ce film :)
Les deux garçons jouaient très bien aussi, en particulier celui qui était "le gay caché".

The way Estaban looks at Thomas after their second encounter is priceless.
Finally! A film about homophobia/internalized homophobia that is both realistic and doesn't end in tragedy. I wish I had seen this when I was in high school. It would have saved me years of longing and heartache. Sensitively acted and beautifully shot. Bravo to all of you!!!

I agree. My experiences through youth and into adulthood were so shameful, full of hatred and just negative. It's so wonderful to experience the happily ever after so many mainstream heterosexual couples get. The build up was tense but the pay off is well worth it.

It is true after the death of Jesus and birth of Christianity that Church ban the practice of Homosexuality, but you know the real reason why? they did this, they realize that Homosexuals' doesn't gave birth to children!!!!!. That Church need MEN to be Soldiers for them to carry their religion to future generations. They put cage around women and their eggs with marriages and basically told them (the Homosexuals) if you don't give this up it either death and no children. The Church ban the method of Birth Control and Condoms and abortions for their own ambitions.

This is much more than just another one film on homophobia. The teacher enters and delivers his message in such a beautiful and natural manner that we couldn’t have expected it. The opening scene is also spot on while Thomas’ eyes are searching for his own reality. An establishing shot to the entirety of the film that shows how to reach audiences within a minute. Controversial feelings against their own desires, enlightened by a cinematography that is worth feature films and beautiful sets with great attention to detail. Some deeper shades by places achieved with slow motion, a close-up on their hands as he leads him on the path of truth, and finally looking at the world together as a global message of acceptance. In addition, a making of just as good that shows dedication and professionalism on set and which is another way of interacting even more with the audience. This is the way of success. Well done! Your message has been delivered and your film watched as far as Australia.

Mais il se peut qu'une femme joue le rôle d'un homme et un homme celui d'une femme, on appelle ça un rôle de composition et ça peut être très très bien joué.
Bah c'est pareil pour les rôles de handicaps, les roles de LGBT etc.
Forcément si l'acteur le vie il connaît mieux le vécu donc c'est plus facile à jouer et il a moins de recherche à faire (ce qui veut pas dire que quelqu'un qui ne le vit pas ne peut pas très bien le jouer, d'ailleurs les acteurs homosexuels jouent très bien des rôles hétérosexuels par exemple et des acteurs hétérosexuels jouent très bien des rôles homosexuels), mais surtout si ces personnes ont beaucoup moins de place parce ce qu'on leur laisse pas jouer des rôles différents en les réduisant à une de leur particularité (cas plus fréquent dans les handicaps) et qu'en plus on les laisse pas jouer les roles avec cette particularité (ce qui est mécanique si des personnes qui n'ont pas cette particularité ont toujours ou presque ces rôles) , il y a vraiment un problème.
Le problème c'est de ne pas donner d'occasion de jouer à des catégories entière de population.
(La meilleure solution étant de donner des rôles de tout à tout le monde )
Bref ce que je veux dire c'est que c'est pas le problème d'un film ou d'une pièce de théâtre , c'est un problème lié au fonctionnement de l'industrie en gèneral et que personnes s'offusquerait si on disait pas aux autistes par exemple :
'Mais tu peux pas jouer une personne neurotypique vu que tu es autiste.'
Dans le même temps où on fait en très grande majorité jouer que des personnes neurotypique pour les roles de personnages autistes.

This is an excellent short and could really work as a full-length movie. The actors playing Esteban and Thomas are brilliant, especially in that first lip-locking encounter after the spin-the-bottle incident. Esteban is so full of self loathing and rage due to the inner torment of his sexuality that it finally erupts in unexpected passion when he starts kissing/mauling Thomas. After Esteban left, Thomas was so confused and in shock, almost as if he felt sexually assaulted. Then as it sunk in, he acted very differently in their next encounter and even became a little aggressive in their next one after that. This could easily become a 90-minute film when we see the aftermath of Esteban and Thomas not only coming out as gay but as a couple. I hope the obviously talented writer is considering that.

this short film was incredible, the dialogue, the cinematography, the music score, most of all the symbolism. i adored the cinematography and symbolism in this film! the way Esteban holds onto his girlfriend during the prom dance scene as thomas approaches him, he looks at thomas in fear, his eyes are screaming no not yet and in response he clings onto his girlfriend tightly, the camera shows his hands just grasping the skin of her back conveying how he hides behind her truly in reality, conveying how behind his touches which communicate love and admiration there is desperation and desire, for all but her. the way they kiss as if no one else is in the room, and when they finish the best and my most favourite scene in the film unfolds, they stare directly into the camera, at us, they stare at us as if they are telling US the audience , what? i accept myself, and so it’s YOU that needs to change, just as the man had told him. it gave me chills. the story was wonderful, although there were times i couldn’t stand the character of Esteban ahaha, i hated to see how he projected his internalized homophobia out on thomas, the scene where he insults and kissed him made my stomach twist with both pity and anticipation. pity for thomas that perhaps his first real kiss is laced with confusion and fake hate, but anticipation for what is to come now that we know he is truly gay. it was just perfect, well done!!!

What a lovely film. I found it particularly touching that the people who truly helped the main character were all LGBT men from an older generation. It's such a nice touch, because generally speaking, us LGBT folks have to rely on each other when dealing with homophobia.
i just loved everything about this short film. i could feel what the actors were portraying and feeling. i just wish that people would be more accepting of the lgbtq community and not treat them so differently. it’s freaking 2023 and it’s time everybody grows up. need more teachers like the professor in this film who can educate more about this and encourage youngsters to accept people the way they are. “It’s the society that needs to change, not them”

When you feel people staring at you, don't look away. You look at them right into their eyes. You keep staring right at them. Like saying: "Yeah that's right, I accept myself!"
I actually do that naturally but i only recently noticed it, it's super awkward but i can confirm it is imposing... or the other guy judges me and thinks i have weird social skills... either way, looking a person in the eyes brings presence and if you want to make a point, it is key

In my school being homophobic it's like a clock out immediately. I remember back in 9th grade a student was being homophobic to a gay boy, I really didn't know who the boy was and couldn't care TBH, but when the homophobic boy said a horrible thing about the gay boy I didn't hesitate to defend him, my friends backed me and him up. He ended up getting expelled for a whole week. I became friends with the boy and now he's my boyfriend. ❤️

At first, I was kinda irritated that Thomas was the one to come to Esteban at the end bc Imo it would've been more impactful for Esteban to do it and by doing so to show that Thomas means a lot to him. But then I rewatched the scene and I saw the immense fear in Esteban's eyes and that made me realize that he wanted to do it, but was too scared to do it. I guess Thomas saw it too and that's why he decided to do it. Really brave of him.

I rarely comment on videos but this short movie is too profound, too significant and too powerful to not to. And I must add that this simply needs to continue as a movie. That first scene under the stairs is just wow, amazing acting from Esteban, it was like he had two people inside of him, one hating himself for who he truly was, and one desperately wanting to be with Thomas. No words for the final scene, it was perfect. I can't help but saying that in the end Esteban's great fear wasn't coming out, but losing the other guy.
The way the first 10 mins made me feel butterlflies, then anxious, then scared, then angry... it's just a whole ride

Ce court-métrage, qui souligne les attitudes homophobes du quotidien, montre qu'une autre voie est possible : un monde dans lequel tout le monde pourrait aimer, simplement et naturellement, en suivant son cœur, sans avoir à se préoccuper du sexe de l'autre et encore moins à se soucier du regard des autres.
Il serait temps que TOUS les couples soient accueillis de la même façon quel que soit le sexe des partenaires.
L'acceptation de l'autre facilitera l'acceptation de soi.
Incroyable d'avoir réussi à faire passer tout ça en 35 min avec des jeux de regards d'une émouvante sincérité.

Today in my classroom,I was explaining about equality and homophobia because someone was using 'gay' as an insult across the classroom.
You should've seen how passionate I was! 🤭 Trust me,he won't be using the term in any negative manner in future.
I remembered the teacher in here as I was educating those 12/13 year Olds.
My france teacher made my whole homophobic class watching this.
Hes also gay btw

Probably the best short film I've ever seen. Had me crying my eyes out, the ending was just perfect. Think I saw another comment saying this should be made into a show. I'd agree with that. Very talented actors. 🥰

I just wanna comment on the character who said "oh so he's your type?" So casually to his friend. That's an awesome way to react, I love it. I also love how the other character didn't act too offended, just "no, no way! I was checking out her."

N’est pas possible fair du sex entre des hommes. On peut faire du sex seulement parmi le masculin et le féminin. Le sex gay n’éxsiste pas mais ce qu’on font deux ou plus gay s’appelle seulement érotisme. Le professeur délire et fait de la propagande omosexualiste

LOOOOOOVED THIS!! I'm so impressed with the acting. These two leads knocked it out of the park! The scene under the stairs was one of the most intense and heartbreaking scenes I've seen in a short film. I truly enjoyed the teachers explanation on homosexuality and loved how that moment turned things around for our characters. We live in a world where being your authentic self is still something to be hidden or ridiculed. But that last scene is a truly beautiful moment. Bravo to this film and hope more Queer films help others understand the importance of love and acceptance.
