Turboprop planes doesn't use reverse thrust pilots only set the thrust to idle in these type of planes when they touchdown.

They can and do use reverse, although the Dash 8 doesn't need to use it often.

I don't think that was reverse thrust, I believe that was just the propeller discing.

We're you trying to say deicing? If so no it wasn't, sunny day probably very little chance of icing, the sound was definitely the blades pitching to provide reverse thrust

@@rileymannion5301 No, discing is when the propeller blades are pitched to provide no forward or reverse thrust. That’s commonly used on Q400s on landing. Reverse thrust is rarely used.

@@jarekjellison817 i fly the Q and i’d assume they used disc but i honestly couldn’t tell you what the actual reverse thrust sounds like lol

@@Winglets68 I’ve never seen nor heard a Q400 reverse. I would love to. I may fly them in the future. I’m currently a private pilot, but as soon as I get my ATP, I could very well be flying them with Horizon.

I always thought the reverser sounded like a cult chanting some rite. It sounds much better in person: go fly on a Dash 8. Right now. You won’t regret it. In fact, I find it easier to sleep on them thanks to the engine white noise.

The landing gear is housed in the engine. If you can easily see the engine you will easily see the landing gear deploy.
