Great video! I can't wait to travel again with my wife and two daughters The reviews for Memories Cayo Largo are through-the-roof very positive. I'll likely be booking for a week in March or April. I'm so stoked!
My first trip to that Island was in 1989 and it was a really mind-blowing Impression. In this Time there where only 4 or 5 Hotels and the Tourists had more Individual-Traveller Charakter. The Island was silent and was THE SPOT for People to come down and enjoy the Caribbean Nature. After that I travelled 7 more Time to Cayo and I noticed that it became more and more a really sad Destination. Is it necessary to rent a quad, a car or a scooter on an Island of this size? Is it needed that the staff treat the Guests like their cow to be milked? On my last Trip in 2018 I decided that this was really the last Trip to that Destination. As an European I could go to the typical Spanish hotspots with that drunk Tourists and the loud Music in the Night. Funfact: Spain is much cheaper and got an Idea what it means to treat a guest like a guest.
Nice. I was told by someone that since all the resorts are Blue Diamond that you have access to the pools, bars, buffets, etc to all the resorts. For example, if you're at the Starfish you can go and hsngout for the day at the Memories or the Lindamarr without an issue..... Do you know if thats true? Thanks
Hello, there's no sharing of services between hotels, except for the followings… Villa Caprice and Villa Natura share services. Villa Coral and Villas Soledad share services. Sanctuary at Grand Memories guests have access to all Grand Memories Cayo Largo facilities (but not the other way around).
"Starting November 2022, Blue Diamond Resorts (which belong of the Canadian group SUNWING) have secured exclusive operating rights to Cayo Largo for the Canadian market." 1) Man, I sure hope this means a return to flights to Cayo Largo from the rest of Canada (outside of Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal). Winnipeg used to have options to go to pretty much every part of Cuba in the high season, and more recently it's been only Havana and Varadero. Most of the areas of Cuba that we want to go back to haven't been offered for several years. 😪 2). I'm quite surprised that with Blue Diamond operating the whole Island, that none of the hotels were converted to the Royalton brand. Makes me wonder if they didn't feel any of the existing facilities would quite fulfil the upscale branding.
it's sad that there are so few flights to Cuba from Winnipeg, I hope this will change in coming years. The existing hotels were getting old, this is probably why Blue Diamond/Sunwing decided to market them as their Starfish, Memories and Grand Memories brands. In a Press Conference last year, Sunwing announced that a new hotel may be built on Cayo Largo, and this one would be a Royalton… will this project really go ahead? We’ll see…
Hi Normand, I am planning to visit Cayo Largo in December and I'm unsure about how to book my stay. Could you please link me the booking platform (if there is one)? Thanks a lot!
We are not a travel agency nor affiliated to one, so we cannot help you book your trip. If you are traveling from Canada, know that Sunwing Vacation will be the only tour operator to offer Cayo Largo for the 2022-2023 winter season. Lily & Normand
thanks for the video. do you have any ideas why they have changed most of the hotels names. I've been looking to go for the past few months but nothing was available leaving from Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Finally today we have booked at the Memories Cayo Largo "Sol" for December 23rd leaving from Montreal. im not a stranger to Cuba but it will be my first time to Cayo Largo. If you have any excursions or activities suggestions please let me know. 😎🌴🏝
Blue Diamonds has its own brand. Royalton, Memories and Starfish. Do They applied the same for Cayo Largo. Regarding excursions, the day-trip catamaran is a must to do. Cayo Largo is unique, you will see 😎
Cayo Largo was spared by Hurricane Ian, they only had some wind (not too strong) and a little rain, the hurricane rather hit the easternmost regions of Cuba, such as Pinar del Rio.
This is due to management contract changes. When a hotel is run by an international hotel chain they want the hotel to have a name that identifies their brand. If we take the hotel Memories Cayo Largo for example, it used to be called Sol Cayo Largo because it was managed by Melia International and "Sol" is one of Melia's brand name. But now it's managed by Blue Diamond Resorts (which belong to the Sunwing group) and "Memories" is one of their brand names.
@@wobwobwobful May be. According to Blue Diamond, the formerly Playa Blanca will be the Grand Memories Cayo Largo. Better rated than the Sol (now Memories). We will see!
I love you guys Cayo Coco videos and maps
Many thanks for your appreciation
I stayed at Villa Caprichio, fabulous

@@LilyNormand WestJet & Sunwing are one airline now, so I would think the Western Canadian market will be fully served by autumn 2023
Any recommendations how to get there? I tried online but I cant find a lot of options available

They have beautiful virgin beaches you can explore, went many years ago anxious to go back
How did CayoLargo survive the hurricane??
