It's astonishing how few people follow this channel and comment on these videos.
This is indicative of a generation which chases after teachers and doctrines which tickle their ears.
In 40+ years in the fold of followers of The Way, I, being taught by the Holy Spirit, have endorsed the teachings of very few men. R.C. Sproul is one of the few I must conclude was a true teacher of biblical scripture.
I would have liked to have seen him in a discussion with John Macarthur concerning the so-called pre-tribulation rapture. Sproul is one of very few who are not deceived by and doctrine which states that the entire church, both dead and alive, is gathered to heaven before the return of Christ.
Thank you Lord for this spiritual food that has filled me today.

I heard Arnold Fruchtenbaum said the eye of the needle was the smaller gate within a larger gate. Like for arrivals at night. But it makes sense that it is IMPOSSIBLE (a camel 🐪 to go through 🪡 needle) without God - but MIRACULOUSLY POSSIBLE with God’s help... with the Holy Spirit
That's my understanding, also. The folks had to remove baggage from the camel's because it was small to protect those inside.

What was the purpose of the needle gate?
It is a smaller door at the entrance of the city, that was used at night for security purposes only, while the large gate & others were closed. The 'Needle gate' was used for people entering the city "after hours". Enemies could not simply ride into the city on their camels and attack because of its narrowness.

All languages have slang. For the most part slang is forgotten and changes over time. As far as the Eye of the Needle being the gate would make sense.

This guy completely missed the context. Repent for the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND. John was saying this before Jesus shows up. Before Israel can go into the KINGDOM they must go through the prophesied 70th week of Daniel ( Tribulation) . To buy or sale during the tribulation will require a mark 666. Those that take the mark do not enter the kingdom but are cast into the lake of fire. Jesus meant exactly what he said when he said its easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom

Like most analogies and human examples, it is imperfect. I’m sure if you dug deeper you’d find things that could be used to erode the example.
Did you notice how R.C. Avoided the whole text.
The scene starts with verse 17.
[17 As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 18 Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.]
Here Jesus asked the person not to refer to him as good because according to Jesus only God almighty is good. And you people call him god when he refused even to be called good.
Going back to the question of the man on how to enter into the kingdom of God. Jesus then continues by saying:
19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; You shall not defraud; Honor your father and mother.’”
Here Jesus told the man in order to enter into the kingdom of God one has to obey the commandments of god. He didn’t tell him to believe that Jesus was a god which is a blasphemy. He didn’t tell him to believe that I’m dying for you so wait until I die then believe what Saul the fraud is going to tell you after I die. Christianity is really a mess of a theology which is not the religion Jesus taught but it is about Jesus and his death. What a pagan religion Christianity is.
