@@FoxyAnimater The trope that XP x64 is "really really buggy" just doesn't appear to hold true for me. I have used XP x64 for prolonged periods of time without any noticeable issues. It's also worth noting that XP x64 was released two years after the original edition of XP Professional, so it was indeed developed separately from XP itself. I was gonna say. I remember playing minecraft on Windows XP as well. I don't really remember the specs of my old XP computer but the main part I remember was it having 2gb of ram and vaguely remember it having an ATi graphics card from either '05 or '06 (it was previously owned by my second oldest brother who got the computer around the same time). It had at least 100gb of storage but I could be wrong. The only thing I clearly remember was playing Minecraft version 1.2.5 at low settings with 15-20fps.

It really just depends on the availability of a (recent) version of the Java Runtime Environment. The operating system itself doesn't make that big of a difference, so long as there exists an abstraction layer for it.
The correct way to play Minecraft on Windows XP is the first fully update the system using legacy update. Next, download and install all drivers for your system using snappy driver installer origin next, install Java 8 update 152. This is the last version of java In which we'll install on Microsoft Windows XP without any fuss. Of course, after it warns you that Java will not be supported on Windows XP. And finally, the last and final way you should do this is by installing a modification to the old version of the Minecraft launcher called Olauncher for minecraft. After which, sign into your Microsoft account, like you would sign into your Mojang account back in the day, and then afterwards, select Minecraft Java Edition 1.12.2, which is the most compatible version of Minecraft, and then after it's installed, install Optifine for Minecraft 1.12.2 and then you're off to the races. Make sure to lower your graphic settings and accordance to your hardware and you'll be fine to go about your day. Flame Minecraft. If your system can handle OpenGL 3, then you can run up to Minecraft 1.16.5. However, I do not recommend that you run this version even with OptiFine because it has major performance issues. If you want to run this(or newer versions) of Minecraft, you're probably better off running Windows 7 with a more up-to-date version of Java and if your system is compatible with OpenGL3, you can just run the latest version of Minecraft, assuming you are running either a 64bit IS or you find an x86 version of java 17(yes it does exist).
