I've had nothing but respect for him since I witnessed him neutralize an FOB while lone wolf.... with an M320 LRR... in CQB... Yeah...

CAS - Combat Air Support CAP - Combat Air Patrol The A10 is a perfect CAS bird while the FA181 is more of a CAP platform. CAS is generally Air to Ground support, while CAP is Air to Air. The two terms are not interchangeable, however CASCAP aircraft is a thing (F16s for example) as multirole aircraft are common. /rant
