This creepypasta doesn’t have a scary ending, it doesn’t have a twist ending, it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, it just ends predictably and eerily. The ending gave me chills, and left me speechless

I was thinking she would've been swapped to the other reality where she never existed so there's a couple other students confused on who she is while everyone else remembers her.
i was thinking the exact same thing. like he's an old man with greying hair who spent his entire life tirelessly working on a way to find Eve, founding the most successful scientific research company the world has ever seen, working on various projects to justify its existence to the rest of the world, but the main focus for him is dimensional travel. he eventually succeeds and single-handedly travels through multiple dimensions looking for her, only to find her back in the moment before she was taken from reality, and saves her, bringing her back to his their original reality. he goes on with his life's work being the head of the facility he founded, helps find a loving home for her to be adopted into and visits her from time to time. no one knows where she came from, only they, and that one other guy, have any memories of her existence. like the movie Interstellar mixed with Fallout 4 and Bioshock Infinite.
Hey man, it's D.D. Howard, the writer of this story! I left a comment a long time ago but it seems that it too got lost in oblivion haha. I often come back and listen to this video, and I have to say, you narrating this is my crowning achievement as a writer. The amount of emotion and dedication you put into my story deeply touches me, not to mention you've broadcasted it to now nearly half a million people! Even if you never see this, thank you so much for doing this for me. I subbed the day I found this and I'll always be tuning in.
What gets to me the most about this is with how her being forgotten got to him and how he so sweetly remembered her... it almost seems like she was meant to play a more integral role in his life. Perhaps she would have been his first kiss, his first girlfriend, or maybe even his wife he was meant to have children with. For those who yearn for a soulmate that the universe forgot, I grieve for you.
That's what makes me more sad, when he talks about that bit where someone goes back to the past to not met someone just to save a life in the future or the tragic events it feels like somehow that's what happened, that Eve choosed to be forgotten even tho it was incredibly painful for her, but he never forgot her, the way he felt for her never left even when she dissapeared and now he just feels empty like something is missing , something that was supposed to happen and never did

*SEMI-SPOILER* This is how you do a creepypasta. %100. Familiar premise, good story, and it wasn't titled something like "the Mandela effect swapped my universe and a girl i went to school with disappeared".
This isn’t a creepypasta... this is a sad noodle... I’m not scared, freaked out, or anything... I’m just sad 😠 I was expecting to have an existential crisis...instead, I’ve been thinking about a little girl who never got the love she deserved... i was supposed to be scared not sad! 😑 With that said, i LOVE this story... and i always will... i love this sad noodle...
This one wasn't scary, or creepy, or disturbing, but the way the story was delivered with such emotion and atmosphere, it's probably my favorite one to date.
I'd say that while this story is more of a sad drama, the basic idea that someone could phase out of reality with a couple people at most remembering them is horrifying. There's so many unanswered questions. Did she completely vanish? Is she still alive? Did she perhaps phase into a universe where our protagonist is the missing one? Is something wrong with the town specifically? It's one of those ones that gets more creepy the more you think about it.
When "Dear Eve..." was read off the note I had such a strong chill all over my body and slight tears well up. I have no idea why I had such a powerful reaction to this but I can only chalk it up to great writing and presentation.
I have a similar story, there was a kid in my 4th grade class names Michele that I remember perfectly. Bright blond hair, blue green eyes, light freckles. He had a button nose and he was obsessed with liquid glue. We played tag everyday with the whole class but then I asked about him to my friend. He had no idea who he was and swore I was making it up. I visited my teacher and she had no clue who he was, but the reason I brought him up in the first place is because I found his valentine card from all those years ago in my drawer. I don’t understand how no one remembers him. He’s not in the pictures either. He was a nice kid with a lot of potential so thinking about this makes me sad for some reason
My friend Truly in first grade. My first kiss. She didn't come back got second grade... But nobody in my tiny school remembered her. She kissed me on the cheek for reading her a book and drank a noxious smelling juice that cleared the lunch table but nobody remembered her.
You could stand shoulder to shoulder with another person, even your identical twin, for decades of your life, & you both will have different memories, of the exact same experiences. Nothing super natural is happening, at all...
@@kpennett Honestly that's what so terrifying. This isn't super natural, just natural events that play out differently to others. But with such a difference, and such a large collection of people forgetting a common event, is absolutely terrifying. I don't think anyone thought this was super natural, just, a hypothetical that could happen in someone's lifetime. Even this comment kinda confirms that.
Ur story reminds me of this one episode of The Amazing world of gumball where everyone forgot this big elephant who liked to talk about random stuff like her cute pencil collection and many more. I hope you and Michele's worlds cross again. That would make a great story to tell.
@@Yurei-m5x because we were not ment to be remembered for every sin someone has committed against us. I want the possibility of a better life. Because I would rather do as I do and take 4 important photos a year, of anything, and make those memories count. Because the early 90s internet taught me that there is no value in superficial social connections. Because I want to be known, not remembered. The sum of your life can now be merely determined by how many people "follow" you. The higher the number, the bigger failure you are in life as it means that number of people are "in your life" yet you are no more happy. Most people wouldn't even post this here nor waste their time answering a heartfelt question from a stranger in earnest like this. That's why.

12 minutes in. Jack became Jake in his example. The teacher said Mandella died in 2015, then a few minutes later, the narrator says that Mandella died in 2013. I'm guessing these changes will keep coming. I'm intruiged.
Holy crap! Now that you mention it, there was a sudden change, and my brain picked it up for a moment, but I put the confusion aside because of how enveloped i was in the story. Good eye!
@@smellyfries1834 actually! I'm pretty sure it was a mistake of the narrator! If you read the actual transcript of the story, the name was always jake, and it sounds like it was just read wrong in a few instances!

I'm not even gonna lie, I started crying at the end of it. I'm not even sure why. The story just....hit me, it struck me in a way I didn't know a story could. Maybe just the thought of this little girl being a ghost lost to even memory scared me, or maybe something else entirely but man this was something else. You earned a subscription with this narration and music choice
Me too!! I think it was how he was able to deliver the heartbreak the character felt. As if Somnium himself is the character in this and it happened to him. Absolute phenomenal voice acting!!
This has to be my favorite story by far. The intensity of emotions as he fights so hard for this innocent little girl just to be remembered. I was right there with him I wanted so badly for her to be remembered by someone
I've listened to this story several times over the last couple of years and while on the surface it isn't scary, there is something about it that is just so absolutely haunting it lingers in the back of my mind. Then I listen to it again and the narrative coupled with excellent music that seems to evoke memories of Silent Hill and being trapped in another world just hit so hard it's no surprise that its so haunting.
I kinda want to go to Silent Hill. If your heart is in the right place, you could remake it as if nothing else, a personal paradise. The girl...Laura I think, sees no monsters. The arsonist sees the world in flames. Silent hill is a place where the strongest willed can reshape it.
Most of the horror here comes from “the girl being sucked into the cosmos” but from my understanding that’s now how the Mandela effect works, she’s living normally in another universe
I think the horror (for me personally at least) is in the fact that I remember something so well and so deeply that the possibility of that thing being wrong is unbelievable to me, but suddenly my reality has been rocked so hard, that I'm questioning my own sanity now, and no matter who I talk to, no one remembers what I do. It's freaky and it also makes the listener/reader have a sense of the normal world being slightly skewed, which is (once again, in my opinion) one of the scariest things imaginable. It's kinda like the whole idea of a teddy bear, but with a human smile, it takes something normal and slightly twists it until it's just different enough to be unsettling and freaky. Another example would be a tall slender man in the background of a large crowd that you notice after the hundredth look at a picture that you thought you knew so thoroughly.
Honestly that's what I thought. I like to think that there's another universe where Eve was okay. However, in this Universe, I feel that the one forgotten is the main character themselves, as if the universe swapped both of them in two separate universes, leaving one group to forget about the other. Still terrifying
We don't have any idea sir except that we're in the one we're in. Maybe it's time travel and the affect is most things are altered including memories but some things slide through because of whatever far beyond our understanding reason
No one knows how the Mandela effect works. Maybe she was sucked and got stuck outside both universes. Maybe she merge with here other self in the other universe and that’s why she’s absent here. No one knows.

MY GOOD SIR, YOUR READING OF THIS STORY WAS PERFECT IN EVERY SINGLE WAY. The end brought me to tears and sent chills up my crooked ass spine, the buildup, the insanity, the language, the sound design, the hushed tone, this was EVERYTHING oh my god. As a theatre kid who values this sort of verbal acting, I've admired you since I started binging your videos, and you've been in the background while I do concept art for the past week.
Funny thing, for us South Africans, the name of the Mandela effect makes no sense, since our news always kept such close track of the guy and his life - there's not a single person down here who thinks he died in the 90s, especially considering that's when he was our president.
@@nharber9837 It is weird. But it is interesting that there are only a few examples but apart from that, nothing else. Probably a mistake was made when they thought he died. I expected something bigger that seriously impacts millions. Like Hillary Clinton was somehow locked up for Benghazi and was thus unable to run for President but people are saying that she beat Trump in the popular vote. Or that Americans fought the Cold War against the Soviets but people get confused as the Bolsheviks were unable to overthrow the Russian government in the late 1910s, thus unable to rise to power, and the Russian monarchy has since remained. American textbooks mentioning the Cold War since the 60s but no Soviet Union ever existed. (. _ . )
Can confirm. I didn't live when he got out of jail and became president, was born a tad later, but as a South African myself, we were taught about all the history about him and how he was as a child growing up in the townships and how he went to jail and then got out of jail and became president and stopped apartheid and stuff. Funny how there are infact people who think he died in prison.. I currently live in New Zealand and I have had this conversation with a kiwi mate of mine. He asked me about South Africa and the apartheid and the effect it had and how everything changed and when I mentioned how my boy Nelson became president straight out of jail he said that he thought Nelson died in jail. I didn't believe in the Mandela Effect until then, and this story, probably based on a true story i guess, definitely fortifies my believes in the Mandela Effect.

This story also affected me the same way, especially since there were always these times when I remember someone but no one does, or someone remembers someone I never remember. I remember there were times I'd even get in an argument over things like that. It could easily be explained of course, but what if one of them really is similar to this story.
Becuase the medela effect is real nelson medela did rly die from a respiratory track infection but ppl thought he died in prison. I dont know why but im so attached to this one episode its like its calling me to fiqure what its trying to say.
This story hit so close to home for me, I remember always calling my supposed grandpa Uncle Detto. Everyone always told me he was my grandpa and that I called him such but I knew that wasnt right. I remember calling him that by heart. Hes passed away now and this story reminded me of him, I miss him dearly.
I loved this creepypasta, it's terrifying in a different and brilliant way, and I've never been more invested in a guy trying to prove this, but I must ask, does the ending imply that the teacher also remembers Eve? Either way, it's genius.
When I heard that she was always shy, I thought it was going to be like "she wished herself out of existence somehow" or something. Like she asked to be forgotten and the universe just deleted her.
used to work outbound calls and people always thought i was a robot. they'd sometimes interrupt me with "hey! are you even real?" and i always got a kick out of stopping mid-sentence to assure them that yes, i was real - then ask them if they were real too. hope i didn't pop anyone out of existence. O_O woops
This might be a perfect horror story. The world building is incredible, and the plot, despite being so simple, kept me invested the entire time. There was no big monster, no eldritch being or city being wiped out by a plague. Nothing but a normal man, remembering someone that doesn't exist, and trying to prove that she was real. Combined with the top tier voice acting and ambient sounds, this is my favourite video on this channel, and I'm definitely going to be kept up at night thinking about this. If I wasn't already subscribed, I'd subscribe again.
Well although it was about someone else, yes, it has happened to me and since it had happened I just blamed it on the fact that I have horrible memory and I personally choose to blame it on this. Due to my memory I tend to sew in things that aren't exactly true and if I chose to be more proactive on this I really wouldn't be able to take it.
Same here buddy, I had this close friend when i was in first grade but when i talked to my old classmates about him they say they don't remember him i couldn't prove what i was saying since i don't have pictures back then it was 2002.. i knew he was there since i remember my teacher chose our seats and put him beside me and i remember him sitting with me on the stage on a lunch break giving me high fives while we were laughing about something. but its just gone now no one remember him and I can't even find him

I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE a good lengthy story like this one, but I don't like to be interrupted while listening, so I pass it over and save it until I get that time. You never disappoint, dude. @@lordadorable7362 I think he means chin resting on a clenched fist. I always remembered it as his hand on his forehead looking down but I think it is because that looks more comfortable than the original pose to me so I subconsciously (sort of how we can automatically fill in gaps and correct mistakes in text as we read without noticing sometimes) correct it and remembered that instead.

No matter how many times I hear it, the drop of the music on "Dear Eve" never fails to give me chills all over. That music design is insane and beautifully put together, and I can listen to that beat drop over and over and still get chills, the timing is just perfect. The storie was absolutely devastating and beautiful, the music fit perfectly and the narrator really managed to make it seem that much more real with all the emotion portrayed in his voice. Absolutely stunning work on both parts!

I have NEVER once been so filled with goosebumps throughout a narration, it's been 20 minutes since I heard "The girl the universe forgot" come from you, I am just frozen. With the music and my headphones, when you read "dear Eve" I got such deep chills (not to mention the chills I got from the music as the story concluded) Your music and voice are so beautiful together >.< THIS is why you're my favorite narration youtuber. You know, you've narrated some wonderful stories in the past which have left me thinking or left me in shock... this one however gave me chills and messed me up. Good work dude.
I’ve probably listened to this story five times since release. I just love it. It’s more a mystery than a scary story just with some eerie undertones behind the mystery with an... Well I don’t know if I’d call it sad, but it’s got an ending that just leaves you hollow. It leaves you feeling like you lost something while reading/listening to it. Just leaving a empty spot somewhere in you. No questions are really answered except the question of if this girl was real or not. Which once answered only produces more questions. Such as who else remembers her? What of her parents? Were they disappeared with her? And most simply what the hell happened to her? And I love it. It’s such a good story.
I have listened to a lot, and I mean a LOT of creepypasta readings, and none of them has ever had such an effect on me... This is so absolutely terrifying and sad, and the scariest part is that it could actually be happening... It happened to Nelson, it happened to the Thinker, it happened to so many things... Of course it could happen to the entire existence of a person... This could all be real, this could all have really happened and it's messing me up so damn bad. This is the scariest thing I've ever been forced to think about. I think this story is going to stick with me for the rest of my life.
So you can sleep tonight, Tut's mask does have both a bird and snake, but you only remember the snake because the bird is not nearly as colorful, and sort of blends in to the rest of the gold in the mask. The snake is blue and red, and the flaps are flared out, while the bird is just a head and beak with little prominent coloring. You think the snake is long and high above the mask because the 'beard' of the mask is long and brightly colored, so you mix them in your mind.
There's no way that's it! As a kid I read the national geographic magazines and I would state at the covers (one had long tut!) I would state at them for a while since the covers were full of beautiful images. I also did a project on him as a kid so I saw his mask a ton!
This reminds me of a chapter from the story “Infected Town Case Files” where there was also this girl who everyone forgot about. The difference being that the chapter was told from her perspective explaining how because of some Voodoo magic she got involved with everyone would immediately forget her as soon as they lost eye contact or she left the room. It made for a really depressing existence for her, having a normal conversation one moment, only to have people forget her and treat her like a stranger in the next. She couldn’t bare seeing her parents cry in relief to see her every time she walked in a room. Maybe Eve is suffering a similar fate? She never shows up in the story, but it’s very likely that she’s still around, but the whole world just forgets her. I mean, _if nobody remembers you, did you ever even exist in the first place?_

I remember the Berenstain Bears being spelled with the "a" bc I thought it was odd bc I was so used to seeing Stein. Steve Biko was assassinated in Police custody. I remember the thinker had his hand on his chin.

I see you did, she did too the three people back in the back and yes me too. Shoot it looks like all of us had to Google. Kalee Jackson I think maybe that’s what it is?? He also kind of describes it like that in the story, like that it looked “so weird” to be pictured any other way. I think that maybe the way the bird and snake look is so weird, that some people just process it differently and that’s how the confusion began
Actually I did remember the mask having the snake and some other adornment. Just I was sure there was a snake. People probably remember this because the snake stands out. The thinker however I couldn't clearly remember. As far when Mandela died... I've known since the early 2000's he was president of south Africa through the ANC for a while after getting released from jail. I knew he wasn't already dead back then.
@@akumafang Rodin actually made several models of the thinker, some with his hand loose, some with his hand in a fist.The mask gets confused with other egyptian icons, Ramses and Nefertiti are both iconic, and they are usually depicted with just the snake.
Your delivery on these stories are always hauntingly good, and the end of this one story really got to me. The emotion in your voice when you read out the “dear Eve”.. that gave me chills

The feelong that this story invokes. A hollow tightness in the chest. The worry that you could be forgotten just like this, or the nagging feeling that you are forgetting something important. It all does this.
This is prolly one of the best stories I’ve ever heard. It’s got a good storyline, and a good thought out plan for the story. Very well and thought out moments in it too. I would rate this story 11/10.
Also I love the music in these videos. They fully add to the emotions of the story especially at the end. You and Lighthouse have the best soundtracks.
The reason most people think The Thinker has his knuckles curled is because the most iconic imagery of it, from the front, it looks like that. You have to look up imagery of it from the side to see the fingers being straight. Go look it up right now. Looks balled from the front, then if you look from the side they're straight.

i was thinking the exact same thing. like he's an old man with greying hair who spent his entire life tirelessly working on a way to find Eve, founding the most successful scientific research company the world has ever seen, working on various projects to justify its existence to the rest of the world, but the main focus for him is dimensional travel. he eventually succeeds and single-handedly travels through multiple dimensions looking for her, only to find her back in the moment before she was taken from reality, and saves her, bringing her back to his their original reality. he goes on with his life's work being the head of the facility he founded, helps find a loving home for her to be adopted into and visits her from time to time. no one knows where she came from, only they, and that one other guy, have any memories of her existence.
like the movie Interstellar mixed with Fallout 4 and Bioshock Infinite.

What gets to me the most about this is with how her being forgotten got to him and how he so sweetly remembered her... it almost seems like she was meant to play a more integral role in his life. Perhaps she would have been his first kiss, his first girlfriend, or maybe even his wife he was meant to have children with. I'd say that while this story is more of a sad drama, the basic idea that someone could phase out of reality with a couple people at most remembering them is horrifying. There's so many unanswered questions. Did she completely vanish? Is she still alive? Did she perhaps phase into a universe where our protagonist is the missing one? Is something wrong with the town specifically? It's one of those ones that gets more creepy the more you think about it.

I have a similar story, there was a kid in my 4th grade class names Michele that I remember perfectly. Bright blond hair, blue green eyes, light freckles. He had a button nose and he was obsessed with liquid glue. We played tag everyday with the whole class but then I asked about him to my friend. He had no idea who he was and swore I was making it up. I visited my teacher and she had no clue who he was, but the reason I brought him up in the first place is because I found his valentine card from all those years ago in my drawer. I don’t understand how no one remembers him. He’s not in the pictures either. He was a nice kid with a lot of potential so thinking about this makes me sad for some reason

But with such a difference, and such a large collection of people forgetting a common event, is absolutely terrifying. I'm not even gonna lie, I started crying at the end of it. I'm not even sure why. The story just....hit me, it struck me in a way I didn't know a story could. Maybe just the thought of this little girl being a ghost lost to even memory scared me, or maybe something else entirely but man this was something else. Seriously !!! That part gave me chills! This story was just incredible chillin. It don't seem like it is but it really is.
I've listened to this story several times over the last couple of years and while on the surface it isn't scary, there is something about it that is just so absolutely haunting it lingers in the back of my mind.
Then I listen to it again and the narrative coupled with excellent music that seems to evoke memories of Silent Hill and being trapped in another world just hit so hard it's no surprise that its so haunting.

I kinda want to go to Silent Hill. If your heart is in the right place, you could remake it as if nothing else, a personal paradise. The girl...Laura I think, sees no monsters. The arsonist sees the world in flames. Silent hill is a place where the strongest willed can reshape it.

Most of the horror here comes from “the girl being sucked into the cosmos” but from my understanding that’s now how the Mandela effect works, she’s living normally in another universe
I think the horror (for me personally at least) is in the fact that I remember something so well and so deeply that the possibility of that thing being wrong is unbelievable to me, but suddenly my reality has been rocked so hard, that I'm questioning my own sanity now, and no matter who I talk to, no one remembers what I do. It's freaky and it also makes the listener/reader have a sense of the normal world being slightly skewed, which is (once again, in my opinion) one of the scariest things imaginable. It's kinda like the whole idea of a teddy bear, but with a human smile, it takes something normal and slightly twists it until it's just different enough to be unsettling and freaky. Another example would be a tall slender man in the background of a large crowd that you notice after the hundredth look at a picture that you thought you knew so thoroughly.
Honestly that's what I thought. I like to think that there's another universe where Eve was okay. However, in this Universe, I feel that the one forgotten is the main character themselves, as if the universe swapped both of them in two separate universes, leaving one group to forget about the other. Still terrifying

Can confirm. I didn't live when he got out of jail and became president, was born a tad later, but as a South African myself, we were taught about all the history about him and how he was as a child growing up in the townships and how he went to jail and then got out of jail and became president and stopped apartheid and stuff. Funny how there are infact people who think he died in prison.. I currently live in New Zealand and I have had this conversation with a kiwi mate of mine. He asked me about South Africa and the apartheid and the effect it had and how everything changed and when I mentioned how my boy Nelson became president straight out of jail he said that he thought Nelson died in jail. I didn't believe in the Mandela Effect until then, and this story, probably based on a true story i guess, definitely fortifies my believes in the Mandela Effect.

This story also affected me the same way, especially since there were always these times when I remember someone but no one does, or someone remembers someone I never remember. I remember there were times I'd even get in an argument over things like that. It could easily be explained of course, but what if one of them really is similar to this story.

This might be a perfect horror story. The world building is incredible, and the plot, despite being so simple, kept me invested the entire time. There was no big monster, no eldritch being or city being wiped out by a plague. Nothing but a normal man, remembering someone that doesn't exist, and trying to prove that she was real. Combined with the top tier voice acting and ambient sounds, this is my favourite video on this channel, and I'm definitely going to be kept up at night thinking about this. If I wasn't already subscribed, I'd subscribe again.

Well although it was about someone else, yes, it has happened to me and since it had happened I just blamed it on the fact that I have horrible memory and I personally choose to blame it on this. Due to my memory I tend to sew in things that aren't exactly true and if I chose to be more proactive on this I really wouldn't be able to take it.
Same here buddy, I had this close friend when i was in first grade but when i talked to my old classmates about him they say they don't remember him i couldn't prove what i was saying since i don't have pictures back then it was 2002.. i knew he was there since i remember my teacher chose our seats and put him beside me and i remember him sitting with me on the stage on a lunch break giving me high fives while we were laughing about something.

@@Darksomnium Nothing's wrong with the presentation, it's actually perfect. I do the same sometimes, but not because I'm not interested in the story. For me, It's usually due to time constraints. I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE a good lengthy story like this one, but I don't like to be interrupted while listening, so I pass it over and save it until I get that time. You never disappoint, dude.

@@Darksomnium actually it was the same way for me too. I actually avoided it for some reason. Idk but it kind of gave me anxiety for some odd reason. Eventually after a full night of not being able to sleep, I listen to it and it was amazing.

But that's his pose. I even just checked. Look at its Wikipedia article and every single picture has it with its chin resting on its fist.

I always remembered it as his hand on his forehead looking down but I think it is because that looks more comfortable than the original pose to me so I subconsciously (sort of how we can automatically fill in gaps and correct mistakes in text as we read without noticing sometimes) correct it and remembered that instead.

The most beautiful yet most terrifying story I’ve ever heard.
No matter how many times I hear it, the drop of the music on "Dear Eve" never fails to give me chills all over. That music design is insane and beautifully put together, and I can listen to that beat drop over and over and still get chills, the timing is just perfect. Love your work, Somnium. :) You gotta fan for life outta me.

The storie was absolutely devastating and beautiful, the music fit perfectly and the narrator really managed to make it seem that much more real with all the emotion portrayed in his voice. Absolutely stunning work on both parts!

I’ve probably listened to this story five times since release. I just love it. It’s more a mystery than a scary story just with some eerie undertones behind the mystery with an... Well I don’t know if I’d call it sad, but it’s got an ending that just leaves you hollow. It leaves you feeling like you lost something while reading/listening to it. Just leaving a empty spot somewhere in you. No questions are really answered except the question of if this girl was real or not. Which once answered only produces more questions. Such as who else remembers her? What of her parents? Were they disappeared with her? And most simply what the hell happened to her? And I love it. It’s such a good story.
I have listened to a lot, and I mean a LOT of creepypasta readings, and none of them has ever had such an effect on me... This is so absolutely terrifying and sad, and the scariest part is that it could actually be happening... It happened to Nelson, it happened to the Thinker, it happened to so many things... Of course it could happen to the entire existence of a person... This could all be real, this could all have really happened and it's messing me up so damn bad. This is the scariest thing I've ever been forced to think about. I think this story is going to stick with me for the rest of my life.

This is my favorite Dark Somnium. My other favorite is the Earth isn't Flat.
So you can sleep tonight, Tut's mask does have both a bird and snake, but you only remember the snake because the bird is not nearly as colorful, and sort of blends in to the rest of the gold in the mask.
The snake is blue and red, and the flaps are flared out, while the bird is just a head and beak with little prominent coloring.
You think the snake is long and high above the mask because the 'beard' of the mask is long and brightly colored, so you mix them in your mind.
No I was fascinated with that stuff as a kid I remember having the National Geographic with the mask on the cover on my desk at home .
There's no way that's it! As a kid I read the national geographic magazines and I would state at the covers (one had long tut!) I would state at them for a while since the covers were full of beautiful images. I also did a project on him as a kid so I saw his mask a ton!
How do you do it, there was nothing scary about this story, yet it just instilled a heavy feeling of dread and guilt, best narrator by far

This reminds me of a chapter from the story “Infected Town Case Files” where there was also this girl who everyone forgot about. The difference being that the chapter was told from her perspective explaining how because of some Voodoo magic she got involved with everyone would immediately forget her as soon as they lost eye contact or she left the room.
It made for a really depressing existence for her, having a normal conversation one moment, only to have people forget her and treat her like a stranger in the next. She couldn’t bare seeing her parents cry in relief to see her every time she walked in a room.
Maybe Eve is suffering a similar fate? She never shows up in the story, but it’s very likely that she’s still around, but the whole world just forgets her. I mean, _if nobody remembers you, did you ever even exist in the first place?_

Okay folks, tell the truth. How many out there had to stop the reading so that you could Google King Tut burial mask, Curious George and the rest. I see you did, she did too the three people back in the back and yes me too. Shoot it looks like all of us had to Google. I always remembered King Tut's mask with the cobra but not so much the vulture if that is what it is. Once again enjoyed your reading can't wait for the next installment.

Kalee Jackson I think maybe that’s what it is?? He also kind of describes it like that in the story, like that it looked “so weird” to be pictured any other way. I think that maybe the way the bird and snake look is so weird, that some people just process it differently and that’s how the confusion began
Actually I did remember the mask having the snake and some other adornment. Just I was sure there was a snake. People probably remember this because the snake stands out. The thinker however I couldn't clearly remember. As far when Mandela died... I've known since the early 2000's he was president of south Africa through the ANC for a while after getting released from jail. I knew he wasn't already dead back then.
@@akumafang Rodin actually made several models of the thinker, some with his hand loose, some with his hand in a fist.The mask gets confused with other egyptian icons, Ramses and Nefertiti are both iconic, and they are usually depicted with just the snake.
Your delivery on these stories are always hauntingly good, and the end of this one story really got to me. The emotion in your voice when you read out the “dear Eve”.. that gave me chills

A hollow tightness in the chest. The worry that you could be forgotten just like this, or the nagging feeling that you are forgetting something important. It all does this.
This is prolly one of the best stories I’ve ever heard.
It’s got a good storyline, and a good thought out plan for the story.

The reason most people think The Thinker has his knuckles curled is because the most iconic imagery of it, from the front, it looks like that. You have to look up imagery of it from the side to see the fingers being straight. Go look it up right now. Looks balled from the front, then if you look from the side they're straight.
