Thanks so much for this video. I am a woman from Texas and new to this class. This is very helpful for me to learn navigating. I will need to practice these techniques because it seems a little confusing until I understand completely. Again I appreciate your video as well as all your videos.❤
Watched to the end and I enjoyed the video a lot. I'm 45 and spent my younger years tooling around the woods, these days I live vicariously through TH-cam mostly.(for context). I learn a lot and appreciate all of the "out of the box" things you do with your channel that stands out from the "norm". Nothing wrong with repetitive learning necessarily, It's just what makes your channel stand out in my mind and I mean that to be a good thing and in my opinion it keeps your demographic broader. My only negative feedback would be that I was disappointed that you didn't include the campfire bacon and eggs!🤙.
From someone who has taught boating education for 20 years, I think you did a good job. You told people in the beginning what they can expect to learn in the class. Then you broke it down with pictures and demonstration so a person watching it can follow along. People learn different ways and it's difficult to accommodate everyone and I think the way you taught is good to help most be able to grasp the concepts and retain the information. Then you followed up with a summary at the end to help the students remember what they learned.
I’m a former marine myself I currently live in Vermont and I used to struggle with land navigation. Your instructions in your videos have been very helpful. Thank you and Semper Fi!
🎉🎉 CC is a professor of survival. Very well done. Great class lecture. Demo etc. Perfect. Clear. Descriptive. Detailed.🎉 learned a lot. Simplified the mystery.
Brilliant instruction, As a past scouter I found your promotion far better than what I thought I knew. I won’t get lost now, not that I ever have but very good show. Thanks. Stay safe.
Thanks. I've never been camping nor lost in the woods. I use your lessons as a fun way to keep my 82 year old mind sharp plotting a course around my S. Cal neighborhood when I go for a walk. You probably never thought of that service you provide.
Excellent explanation which EQUALS the BEST I've seen in my 83 years! I welcome this typle of simple & clearly-explained instruction. My personal concern is over multitudes of younger generations who depend upon electronics, but who've never held a compass in their hands & know little or nothing of the realities of real woodsmanship! Corporal, you do a excellent job! Thank you & God bless you. The Old Preacher
I like the online classroom format. You have a unique outlook combining traditional and modern bushcraft, a military background, and your building background. And you emphasize your way is not the only way. Many people complain your videos are redundant, but yet you have such a large repertoire. I have watched several of your land nav videos for example. Each time I pick up on something new or refresh what I have forgotten. Keep doing you!!!
Almost 2 years ago you asked your viewers to go back and watch older videos. I've done this gave them all 👍, didn't find one I didn't like, hard time finding one I haven't seen. Great job. The only problem is I can actually smell bacon and I'm not cooking any, but that's ok, so far nobody else has noticed the aroma. Keep up the great work and don't change your style.
I learned compass navigation when I was in the Boy Scouts . It became useful later in life but that was 50 + years ago . Always good to refresh forgotten skills .
You laid out everything a beginner would need to know. Ive watched all your previous videos from years back until now and your teaching is straight forward and concise. Great class
Corporal, I am always watching your videos. I like them all the time sometimes even when I sleep, I put them on rotation. This is a good learning segment for how to use a compass my suggestion/idea would be to like put it in use with a map as in real world, I would say your property, but knowing that you don’t want people, knowing where you are say a different place choose a particular spot on the map and use the compass as well to get to that spot But also knowing or not knowing how many people would enjoy that thanks for what you do keep up the amazing content
it was very good to know how to read and use a compass, plus explaining the use of the compass. because i didn't know what the tick marks were for and now i do. thank you
Very well done. One of the best explanations I´ve ever heard. Simple and understandable for everybody. Great shot. My general opinion..online classrooms are great for theoretical things, like you did it here, on the other hand, it might be useful to see the finished result...like building something, and so on.
I already watched your video this morning on my TV but had no way to comment so I logged in with my phone to give you the input you requested. I enjoy your overnighted, but want you to know that you don’t have to stay the night to make your content worthwhile. Seeing it get dark then watching you make coffee and an egg doesn’t add to the primary content you offer on day one. Just saying. With respect to your navigation content to, I found it to be good. However, it was more easily understandable when you did it in the field a couple years ago. Seeing you explain the compass types in a classroom setting was a great idea up front, but the practical application in the field I found to be more meaningful. I remember you sighted a tree through your viewfinder, walked and showed drift, discussed getting back home using the reverse ax.., etc and I learned it immediately. Note that I was never a Boy Scout or in the military but that early video you did hit the mark. Today’s video was a little less coherent for me, and to some extent I should have been better prepared to know what you were talking about. None of this is intended to be criticism. I think your training is great. I just want you to know: 1. Train by doing works well for me and probably most 2. Brief overview is good but classroom setting probably doesn’t take it far enough for most; and 3. Overnight might be fun, but it’s not essential to make your videos excellent. Sharing your knowledge and how to experience is what makes your videos stand out. Keep up the good work.
Excellent video. As soon as you started your presentation I grabbed my 45 year old Silva Ranger 15T Compass, which has some similar characteristics to your Suunto compass, and followed along. Never too old to refresh ones skills. One point however, some viewers may be a bit confused as to what the smaller black arrow in the compass housing is all about. It's a clinometer (clino) needle used for topo (topography), tree heights, elevations etc. That could be another video, but you covered the basics very well. Well done Corp. 👍👍
This was very easy to understand & interpret. You laid it out plain & simple for everyone to comprehend. Thank you for teaching this valuable skill to everyone. Keep up the great work!
As a former SARTEC (ground and underwater), I can say that your teaching is spot on. Perhaps you have a class to marry the map and compass together coming up? Keep up the great teaching shipmate.
Morning The classroom setting is good plus you bring the classroom to the field. I’ve learned from your old nav videos but it’s always good for a refresher. You’re a bomb a$$ teacher. Keep grinding!!👊🏼👊🏼
Brother your information and skill of teaching is top notch. Please continue to oush forward, ive learned the most on this channel and I genuinely thank you for your assistance.
Definitely interested in the online classroom! Looks like you’re off to a good start with it too. I’m a big hands on learner and I like how you’re implementing going out into the field after a short classroom setting 😎
For the sample of the online course that this was, I dig it. Easy to digest, easy to take notes from, easy to replicate afterwards. I'm definitely interested in what you'll have together for these courses. Keep doing what you do Corp.
I don’t leave many comments been watching your channel for a number of years this was a excellent video I’m a for you doing a on line class set it up 👍
I think it went very well. beginner level is perfect for a start. Your delivery is great and easy to follow and learn from. My granddaughter is going to give it a go.
Excellent video. Relatively easy to understand and to the point. I can infer from your teaching style that you've had to train a few 'rocks' in your day? I love that you mentioned the A2. I LOVED my A2. Keep up the good work, brother. Semper Fi!
Классное видео! Спасибо! В критической ситуации вычислять обратный азимут будет сложно. Есть простой способ получить обратный азимут. В красный сарай поместить чёрную стрелку. Тогда красная покажет обратный путь.
I really enjoyed this. Getting up in years and don’t get out like I would like. I taught map and compass in boy Scouts. Some of the things you discussed isn’t even in the handbook. Wish I knew some of this back then. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
Another great video. You just simplified some complex concepts. I bought a Suunto MC 2 and now have them in all Bug out Bags and chest pack. I never heard of LAMS and just now wrote it on the flap of my waterproof field notebook, right next to my pace count reminder. I look forward to the rest of your online videos!
Great video as usual. The material was presented in a way that was easy to follow and understand. Then it was locked in and affirmed during the demo section.
This is something I've said to myself that I need to learn often but never gotten around to. Sitting down with this, some paper and a pen after dinner and getting to it! Outstanding AF, Corporal!
Great video, easily understandable information. I don’t personally mind not having an over nighter in the woods every week. I think most people confuse your goal of teaching with a side on entertainment with, entertainment and a side of teaching
I have always enjoyed your training classes, knots, tarps, shelters and the compass training. Keep the training videos going. There maybe a few that could actually survive in a long term event. But I know by watching all your videos puts me in an advantage way above the average person.
You're an excellent teacher and I'm sure your students will appreciate your clear and concise instruction , thank you for breaking the knowledge down so well .
I believe your instruction style should make it easy for almost anyone to pick this up. Great job. I also believe youtube is messing with your numbers.
