I married a Puerto Rican and this is my second home. I always went there and saw cool skate spots. Check out old San Juan if you haven’t.

Anyone who thinks of Puerto Rico as just an extension of USA and not its own country hasn’t ever been around Puerto Ricans from PR. My best friend moved back there and I can’t wait to come surf/skate and hang out there real soon.

Please keep reading about our history and relationships with banks and USA (... there is so much small oppression like stupid things like this of no skateparks in San Juan, Jones Act, Act No. 20 and 22, etc, etc, etc. is so sad, and our people just want to move forward like anyone else!

I am 60 years old and I learned to skate as a teenager. Of course I never became professional or anything like that but when I had my own daughter I taught her the basics of skating and she's a good skater today. She's 33 years old and pregnant with her first baby. It's a girl. I hope she learns to skate too.

The park also used to be riddled with drug addicts in its early days. You would have until sunset to skate because they start making their way back into the space. I wonder if it's still like this today with all the great progress the park has achieved.
