Welcome Back Frank was WAY BEFORE Frankencastle. WBF was after Marvel’s failed attempt at making Punisher an Punishing Angel of God (something even worse than Frankencastle)
Is anyone at WhatCulture double-checking these lists to make sure the titles and story continuity are accurate? No. 7 - Jules says Frankencastle was prior to Welcome Back Frank, when it was a full decade AFTER Welcome Back No. 6 - Jules calls Welcome Back Frank “Born Again” (which is a Daredevil story from 1986 by Frank Miller) No. 5 - Daken, Wolverine’s son, killed Frank, not Wolverine (ps. THIS IS FRANKENCASTLE)
It's stupid that Punisher withstood the Penance stare. The one thing that's absolutely perfect for his punishment and potential redemption. It's probably a good thing I found out about that just randomly coming across it on Wikipedia one day cause if I was reading the actual comic when it happened then I would probably be super angry. It doesn't make sense that he can withstand it. You have to be a machine or sociopath or something to withstand that. Punisher isn't. He feels some form of empathy. It's probably a good part of the reason he does what he does. So he has a sense of right and wrong. It's warped but it's there. And thus feels some kind of guilt for the things he's done. If he doesn't feel any guilt it's probably because he doesn't have perspective. He needs it put in perspective that the people he kills aren't just meat. If he doesn't feel guilt for killing them then he will for the pain caused to their loved ones. Once that's put in perspective then the Stare should work just fine. He shouldn't be able to withstand it.
He isn't affected by the stare, because as you put it. You need to feel remorse or guilt for your actions. The way Frank sees it, they're low life scum bags and he doesn't feel bad for killing such "insects" he's immune to the penance stare because he believes what he does is right.
Punisher murders criminals regardless of what they do. It doesn’t matter the intentions, he will kill. He only has empathy for the innocents and especially children. It makes sense he can withstand it, he’s mentally unstable
You have to understand that the Punisher is one of the biggest Mary Sue's to ever exist. He wins because he does. That's pretty much all his writers are capable of thinking up
Dude, have you read it? It’s worth checking out. The Hand concept actually works (even if his ninja skull insignia is dumb). Plus it’s Jason Aaron writing it and he did the Punisher MAX series with Kingpin, Bullseye, and Electra, so it’s in the hands (pun intended) of a guy who really knows Frank.
@@dokuganryu1565 I’m not trying to be a jerk and contend with your view, but I’d REALLY suggest snagging the first trade of this series once it’s available for free at your local library (don’t give Marvel money if you don’t believe in what they’re doing!)
@@plasticweapon The English language says so. There is a contextual difference to "ex" and "former". A former military General is someone who retired or finished their service. An ex military general means he was dishonorably discharged, arrested, etc. For presidents, a former president served their term and left office while an ex president was removed from office for something like a conviction after being impeached.
Damn why are whatculutures comments so toxic. From my experience they get their facts right. And can't we all just agree punisher is cool. And he can withstand penance state because he believes what he does is right and necessary and he only kills does who deserve it. To him he's bringing justice
Garth Ellis' major boner for Frank ruins every comic he wrote for the character. Just like with Batman over at DC, its just too ridiculously unbelievable that this absolutely normal man with some guns can beat even one of the super powered characters, let alone teams or all of them. So dumb.
At least batman has more training and tech. Frank is just a really good soldier, he shouldn't be able to take out people like FF or Avengers like in Punisher kills the marvel universe
That was the author sharing his opinion, not him writing what Castle would say. The Punisher would still disagree with those cops, but for different reasons. He'd be warning them about becoming like him, not threaten them.
Punisher is hands down my favorite serious marvel vigilante anti hero.
Mine too
Welcome Back Frank was WAY BEFORE Frankencastle. WBF was after Marvel’s failed attempt at making Punisher an Punishing Angel of God (something even worse than Frankencastle)
Angel of vengeance, that comic was pure garbage
Thank god someone else mentioned it.
"I like my colonels Southern fried."
I don’t know, that story where they ran over the alternate Wolverine with a steamroller left me feeling a little… flat.
I’m sorry.
THANK YOU FOR REMMEBERING THE WARZONE run!!! It was SOOOO good and underrated :) !!! Hope your making progress on your goals too Jules!!
Rick Remender's Frank-en-Castle was the BEST, MOST realistic iteration of the Punisher. It was my favorite!
5:23 No he doesn't because that is not Wolverine, that is Daken.
Sorcerer Extreme sounds like an energy drink.

Wolverine didn't Butcher the Punisher. It was his son Daken.
you should a top 10 Garth ennis stories :D
That wasn’t Wolverine getting revenge !!
That was Daken ( wolverines some ) that was slicing the Punisher up - before he became FrankenCastle.
The only reason characters like Punisher should exist really is to show what heroes SHOULDN'T be.
Forget that, I love punisher and he's an awesome anti-hero
Characters like the Punisher exist to entertain. Just like the other comics characters.
The punisher is fucking awesome and I love his costume.
He humiliated his fans by getting that shitty looking new logo
What about that comic where Punisher, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider teamed up against Blackheart.
It's stupid that Punisher withstood the Penance stare.

Its because Frank doesn't have any regrets he sees everything as black and white. All of Frank's victims are criminals

Needs more Garth Ennis
Except Ennis was terrible or had a sick sense of humour. Wolverine would have ripped Castle apart if he had wished.
YEP!
That was Daken posing as wolverine though.
He really looks like Solid Snake in Warzone
I freaking love Garth Ennis
How are we not mentioning that he literally shot wolverine in the balls with a machine gun
He... did mention that friend
Punisher is the best thing In marvel
But yeah as skilled and good at not dieing as he is he shouldn't be able to beat most people with superpowers
After all the current crap going on with him being a ninja and possibly losing his guns, something like this is quite good

@@TrevorCopter Sounds like a better plan.
Nice
Do anyone know where i can watch the marvel and dc comics for free
You may not like him but you will respect him and he love up to his name
The Punisher💀
Well
Former military, not ex. It’s a small thing, I know, but there is a difference.
if you say so.

suprised you didn't include the time he humiliated the NYPD fro using his logo Dosent fire a bullet but BOY does he humiliate them

Is the worst hero /antihero in ENTIRE marvel universe.
Whatever
