6:55 - I always thought this was more of a scam against the gathered celebrities. Like once Russ saw Danny at the table, they silently agreed to sucker them out of the money. So... Russ says it's a bluff, but knows it isn't, bolstering the confidence of the other players to throw a few thousand into the pot. Cristy, you know I'm going to get you to watch HEAT eventually but you should also watch Out of Sight. Clooney, Jennifer Lopez and the same Director as all 3 Ocean's movies. It's right up your alley. Prison break, manhunt, robbery etc.
Cristy needs a "movies involving the blueprint of a building" genre t-shirt 😂 There are SO MANY good heist movies for you to see!!! What a joy to look forward to!!!
The "pinch" was an EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) device. The USAF tested an H-bomb at high altitude in the 60s, and found out that the pulse would knock out any electronic devices in range. The device in the movie was (like much else in Hollywood) not realistic. Speaking of getting into your role, Basher was Don Cheadle, AKA War Machine from the Avengers. Soderbergh pretty much retired after doing the first three Oceans movies. He came out of retirement to direct Logan Lucky (nothing to do with Wolverine), a heist/caper set in North Carolina. Different crew, same careful planning. Bonus, you get James Bond (Daniel Craig) speaking in a broad North Carolina accent, as Joe Bang.
At 8:47 😄 I always find it amusing when younger people like yourself identify Elliott Gould as "Ross and Monica's Dad." 😊 I'm actually old enough to remember the early 1970s, when he was one of Hollywood's A-list leading men (much like George Clooney was when this film was released). 😎 For a laugh, check him out in "Getting Straight" (1970) in which one of his costars is a very young (and very stoned) Harrison Ford. 🤓👍
It's funny because I think youngER people wouldn't. Friends isn't as popular with the gen z's, I think most kids born after '96/'97 lost interest in the show. It's a sweet spot haha.
This is pretty much the perfect heist and hits all the best notes from the best heist movies. Complex mission, an unexpected roadblock requiring improvisation, and the reveal at the end. But this had in top an incredible ensemble cast and it can't be said enough how hard it is to give so many characters their moments to shine and each of them has several. It's incredible! There's a great series called Leverage that is all heists all the time. It's goofy in purpose but a lot of fun! So glad you're planning on watching the sequels too! You're going to enjoy them. But Christy, whatever you do, don't, under any circumstances...
You should check out these movies they're really good the Vault, Hildago, in the next three days, catch me if you can, lucky number sleven, Red, Red 2 , Transporter 1,2,3,4, 21
Since you really like this style of heist movie, I really recommend the tv show Leverage which is about a group of thieves trying to help people in perfect heist fashion. It is one of my go to shows when I just want to watch something that is lighthearted.
If heists are your thing, you might enjoy the TV show Leverage. A team of extremely competent people take on a wide variety of unsavory people in SO many different heists and cons. It's fantastic!
Very nice reaction! Because this was based (loosely) on a 1960 film of the same name, there were fake-outs inserted specifically to mislead fans of the old one. 🙂

Great great and fun movie! Enjoyed watching along with you. All three of the Ocean's movies were great, and that's saying something, bc the first movie was so so good, that you wouldn't think they'd be able to do another movie, much less two, that anywhere near as good. Looking forward to the next two!

Usually, a movie with this kind of A-list cast would be impossible. The salaries would total to more than the budget of the film. The only way this got made was because the stars were excited enough about the prospect of working together that they agreed to work for less than their usual salaries. Reuben was played by Elliott Gould, who was a big star in the 60s and 70s, most notably as Trapper John in the original M*A*S*H Saul was played by the brilliant Carl Reiner. Reiner acted with and wrote for everyone who was anyone in comedy from George Burns, Sid Caesar, and Dick VanDyke in the 50s and 60s to Mel Brooks and Steve Martin in the 70s. He did a lot of voice work later in his career, and he kept working up until his death in 2020 at age 98. He was also the father of actor/writer/director Rob Reiner. A couple more heist movies you should check out are Tower Heist (2011), with Ben Stiller, Matthew Broderick, Eddie Murphy, and Alan Alda, and Sneakers (1992), with Robert Redford, Ben Kingsley, Dan Aykroyd, Sidney Poitier, and River Phoenix.
@randywhite3947 Oops, I guess you’re right. While, he was in a few movies in the 60s, his career really didn’t get going until the 70s, probably starting with MASH in 1970.

Both cash volume and in particular cash weight aren’t portrayed realistically in movies. One million U.S. Dollars in $100 bills weighs about 10 kg (22 lbs). Thus 150 million would weigh 1.5 metric tons. Even when split into ten parts, ie, ten people, 150 kg is not something anybody could carry. And then in this case, not all cash would be in $100 bills. If you were able to choose the currency, the 1000 Swiss Franc note weighs not much more than a $100 note. Exchange rates vary but you’d still look at about 150 kg for 150 million Dollars. But split that up into eight parts, and you get about 20 kg, something most people can carry relatively in a backpack.
My personal favorite heist movie is a French movie from 1955 called Rififi (or Du Rififi Chez les Hommes). In fact, it has been referred to as the first heist movie (although that claim isn't verified). Notable for the 30ish minutes of silence as the job goes down, making it so amazingly suspenseful. Unfortunately, it is not streaming anywhere and I have not found anywhere that it can be purchased as a hard copy at this time. Put it on the back burner and keep your eyes open for it. If it becomes available, snatch it up like jacks. If you can't watch it for the channel, you should still see it for yourself. A classic.
This is and has been another of my favorites, and I hope you get to see the sequels as well. 🌹 Please remember though, "don't under any circumstances".
Legally, no, you are not allowed to shot somebody who is robbing you. They are not threatening lethal force, therefore escalating to using lethal force would be illegal (as well as immoral). HOWEVER, cops and powerful people are typically above the law; security guards working for casinos are a little bit of both (kind of cops, working for powerful ie wealthy people) so while it's illegal, the powerful make the laws, so you will likely escape the law on that one, like a cop murdering a poor person.
Fun reaction hermosa ❤ an interesting side note Don Cheadle(Basher) had a disagreement with the producers regarding billing where his name should be listed. In the end he told them to not list him at all😮
The beginning and end scenes were shot at the Rahway State Prison in New Jersey. While they were in NJ in the scene with Clooney calling his probation officer you can see the logo of the Trump Plaza casino in Atlantic City. The shot of Clooney going up the escalator into the casino to meet Frank and that casino was shot there. It has since been demolished. Trump once owned three casinos there. The Trump Plaza, the Taj Mahal which is now the Hard Rock and the Trump Marina casino which is now the Golden Nugget. FYI since Steve Wynn left Las Vegas none of the casinos are owned by any individuals. They are all owned by Corporations.
Atlantic City was once the Vegas of the east. It fell off a lot when many of the states legalized their own gambling. I vacationed there a lot before I ever went to Vegas.
