The Sig 516 will be a very high sought after rifle one day. Thank god these were so very underrated. Combat ready out of the damn box. Very tough gun. One of the best for sure..
I have a 516. I love it. I've shot about 600-700 rounds through mine including a ton of steel case, with not a single problem. I have to disagree about the mag-pul sights. I personally think they're garbage. My 516 came with sights similar to the Troy battle sight. In fact they might even be manufactured by Troy. The battle sights are far superior with regards to build and accuracy. My wife is damn near blind as a bat without her glasses, She hit center mass with my 516 at 100 yrds the first time ever shooting a firearm. I'm actually looking to purchase a 716 next.
Btw if you're ever looking to buy another quality AR15 look into PWS MK series. It's a long stroke gas piston system AR15 like the AK, and is considered the most reliable AR15 and one of the most reliable assault rifle made. It's been taking the SF community by storm, and quickly being adopted by civilian market including 3 Gun and Carbine Course's.
I like my Sig 516 gen2. If you want a BAD lever, Parker Mountain Machine makes one that fits, I have one on my MCX. I installed a LaRue MBT trigger on my 516, it’s nice. The trigger that comes on the 516 isn’t that bad. I have the magpul MBUIS on my MCX, they are great. I ordered some factory Sig backup sights. I’m running a EOTECH on my 516 as well.
The Trigger is the one thing I dislike on my Sig 516, it feels rough. My charging handle is fine, wanted to get the Raptor charging handle but they say it doesn't fit the Sig 516 or the Rock River Armory AR's.
I have a SIG516 gen2 and I installed a Raptor charging handle no problem. I also read a few places that it MIGHT not fit, but I must have got lucky because mine slid in without any tightness or forcing. Works perfectly.
notaqua Glad to hear that the Raptor charging handle does fit the Sig 516. Raptors website says it doesn't fit Sig or Rock River Armory, since they both use the Piston system I figured that was why. Now I have my eye on the Fortis Nickelene Hammer.
TwoFeather, I've got bad news. I was wrong about my Raptor fitting in the 516. Mine does fit perfectly yes, but only because I'm using an LWRC nickel boron bolt carrier group in place of the original BCG. I just found out today that my original BCG doesn't fit with the Raptor CH. I haven't measure to figure out why this is, but when I tried to reinstall my original BCG with the Raptor, it was very tight and I felt like I was forcing it, like other's have said on forums. I've heard that you can force it, and work it back and forth until it fits, but I haven't tried and not sure I want to.
Demongawl: Nice input! I'll have to do some research b4 I can agree with you, but it's not often I run into someone that knows their sh!t. Do you live in the northeast Pennsylvania aria? I'm looking to put a tactics team together locally. I also have a lot operator training and take this seriously. I'm currently a member of NSF Navy Reserve. (Master at Arms).
f**** fantastic. I am really trying to change my language which was the norm in the army but I am about to teach high school, so it's a constant struggle. Great video, just got my 516 today. it's my first private Ar style rifle. what kinda of sling and where did you get your echo tech. oh I am a lefty so I need to change my charging handle. any jam or ftf?
i have a sig516 carbon fiber and its awesome....but I wouldn't say its the end all to AR15s. There's a lot of other great companies out there and the sig has weaknesses.
Also dude. You need to learn how to reply to people's comments lol. Just saying 'Michael Grove" comment here. Won't do anything.. You need to click the "reply" that is right underneath the person's comment. It's to the left of the thumbs up and thumbs down icons. If you click the reply button, people will get the alert to their youtube that you responded to them.
It's not the best. PWS, LWRC, Hk416/MR556, and LMT are the best. All used by Operators, and I'm saying that from my personal military experience working in SOCOM(I'm not SF in any way, I'm 37F). The Sig 516 is a great AR15 and I do recommend it, but it's not the best. Accuracy, function, combat reliability, finish, etc. Now it does extremely good, better than several AR15's. But it didn't quite hang with the best listed above. It did however pass the Over The Beach test. Again the Sig 516 is great and reliable, it'll do everything that civilians can and will use it for and at a great price. But it's not the best and I believe as weapon lovers and AR fans we all should give credit where credit is due. It's like guys who buy a $600 DPMS and say everyone else just hates cuz their AR15 will do what everyone else's $2,000 AR15 will due for a fraction of the money... It's BS, the price points are there for a reason and usually not just fluff. Quality materials, craftsmanship, fit and finish, reputation.
Took the words out of my mouth.... when he said the best im thinking... has this guy ever heard of LWRC, BCM, HK, LMT (which now builds Weapon for the British Military).... And I'm a huge SigSnob but I know better than to say best.
I don't disagree, but I chose the 516 because personal preference. Had nothing to do with money because I could afford all the other ones mentioned. I just love the Sig 516/716's.

"The sights are cool, the trigger's awesome". This is one seriously objective and informative vid.

Does the BCM GunFighter fit Bro?
*****
I don't know, haven't seen or heard whether it does or not. The Raptor has it written in their description.

Operator training huh. So you went through SF selection and operator training then?
Oathkeeper? Game of Thrones?
old ass video, but good one. my 516 is my favorite AR 15 and Ill never part with it
I dont think those sights are gonna melt at all bro... Why did you get rid of the original sights????
Michael Grove what kind of quad rail do you have on yours? I got mine second hand and it came with a plain m16 style forearm no rails.

I just bought mine. Where can I buy the clips and sight I've been liking but can't find any good deal.
37F... you're a psyc specialist?? Lol I'm wondering now how you know so much about the good stuff sir.
i have a sig516 carbon fiber and its awesome....but I wouldn't say its the end all to AR15s. There's a lot of other great companies out there and the sig has weaknesses.
Alwagp: I'm not sure what that is. I tried the magpul BAD lever and I didn't like it at all lol.
how did you attach the bad lever to your 516? doesn't the ambidextrous mag release get in the way??

I just put it on... I didn't like it so I cut it off with a dermal and I'm stuck with the top bc the screw won't budge lol
I don't have that option on my phone. Sometimes when I'm on my laptop I reply that wsy
Great Video bud!
Interestingly enough, the British police have started using the Sig 516.
I have the Sig 516 and like it quite a bit. However, my LWRC is a far superior rifle.
Fuckin awesome

That’s why the 516 is 2 grand
Coconut212: Oathkeeper. Look it up one TH-cam. Just search Oathkeeper and you will understand.
Really? F this and F that! Grow up. Talking like that doesn't make you a tough guy.
Calling him out doesn't make you a tough guy either.
