  • Tracking the Wild Woman Archetype: A Guide to Becoming a Whole, Indivisible Woman with Dr. Stacey Shelby.
By midlife, a woman may become conscious of some of the ways culture has overdomesticated her, and she may have become aware of her own wild, instinctual animal nature. The wild woman archetype within a woman’s psyche is an expression of her innate, soulful essence. Many women within patriarchy become socialized in a way that leads them to be overly “civilized” or overly “domesticated” almost from birth and that domestication affects how they express their sexuality and conduct relationships. When a woman becomes conscious of the wild woman archetype, she then becomes free to explore sexuality and relationships on her own terms.

Thank you! I ordered her book from Amazon and have only just begun it. Having read and reread Women Who Run with the Wolves many times, I am excited to have found what I consider 'The Next Step' book. Rather the WWRwtW is like the book *about* the topic and this is the manual on how to go about it. (I also wanted to see what a dissertation-turned-published-book really looked like...hoping to one day produce one of my own.)

This is really great work for men as well! Embracing the inner wild woman archetype within as a man has significantly helped to ground, balance, and strengthen my masculine side. I feel more whole, more me, more confident, and better able to collaborate and partner.
This is soul level work without a doubt. That is my approach. Taking this to men is the next step in my view.
Feeling that feminine power and that intimacy that it has with creative life force changes the way I engage with myself, my life, and the world around me.
When I see these wealthy, supposedly powerful, “power over” men who have no emotional depth to take criticism, unable to strike out in new ways to solve problems, unable to meet the mystery always trying to nail things down with some conceptual narrative, and engaging in misogynistic behavior, I would wager a fragmented/wounded masculine and feminine are in play.
Time to move to the next step with men. The world needs it.
