  • What else can we do with RLK? Combine it with other patterns, of course! In this Practical Application we'll be combining RLK with RLRLKK.
We'll be using our Dave Grohl RLKs, our right hand accented RlKs, and our fully ghosted ones.
Master this and not only will you have a monster linear 16th note triplet chop, you'll also be able to rearrange each of the constituent parts to create something your own! STICK AROUND TILL THE END FOR THE BONUS CHOP!
As always, go slow and make sure everything is clean before you start blaring this one at your local pub gig, lol.
The first Practical Application was in the 'DOING MORE WITH RLK' video itself, so this is number 2 :)

JP Bouvet teaches these concepts as well. REALLY helpful stuff, it unlocks a whole other dimension to playing. Liked and subbed.

Thank you, Brother 🙏 Been meaning to join JP’s site for a while, he’s smashing it atm. Someone else pointed out Jojo Mayer has taught this too. Looks like it’s easy to fall on the same stuff! Appreciate the support 👊

@ferggriffindrums Really worth it, I will sub for a while then work on stuff for a few months. Then resub. I just don't have time to invest in the drums with real life stuff. So much content, i cant recommend it enough.

Such a good quality channel should have more subscribers. TH-cam algorithm should work better

I'm really inspired by your playing and your production quality is really crazy good for how new your channel is. Having said that I hope you will appreciate some constructive criticism, as I feel you have a ton of potential to become a prominent drum teaching channel.
As a beginner, logically I can follow the concept of putting these seperate A/B/C sections together but I'm not appreciating it properly as I feel like you're immediately playing at a level and speed that's going to take me a while to get to grips with.
Would be nice to see several smaller examples building in complexity (say only using A and C in a couple of small fills, then A and B, then all 3 and so on) then finishing with a larger piece like this.
The way you explain the approach is really excellent, I just want to be able to get it under my hands quicker if that makes sense?

Man, thank you so much for this. This is such excellent feedback and I feel totally honoured that you’ve taken the time to say this. In retrospect, upon hearing what you’re saying, it seems totally obvious that I’m skipping from the beginning orchestration to shredding 🤦 There’s a middle ground that I’m not demonstrating and I’m sorry! I will take onboard what you’re saying and make it applicable to a wider audience. Thank you! 🙏🙇‍♂️🙏

Thinking about it, I might do a just RLK video then without the RLRLKK and we could make some more simple fills out of that

@@ferggriffindrums that makes sense to me, makes a good framework for further content as well. Have seperate videos for stickings, then later videos making combinations out of the stickings learned previously
