I'm enjoying the consistency of these drops and that the topics are so varied. Keep these coming. Looking forward to news & reveals for wave 6 (hoping for more villains and vehicles) hopefully soon!
A lot of this stuff is very similar to what I did when I was getting my degree in graphic design at the Art Institute of Orange County. My Branding class had us doing a lot of that concept designing with layouts and showing our processes... It was a TON of fun! My dream job would have been to get into toy package design, but sadly I never found a job in it and now have been forced into early retirement due to going blind. Thankfully I still have lots of fun memories, all my projects (including a hand drawn FAO Schwarz shopping bag with a mixture of fairy tales as the theme). This video brought back a lot of those memories... Thanks for sharing your work with us and I look forward to everything you end up coming up with in the future! 😎👍
@Valaverse the Egyptian Game looked awesome! I wish my middle school teacher didn’t keep the clay pyramid I made, with traps, sarcophagus, snakes, beetles, spiders, and a mummy, which I had made just for fun as extra credit! I spent so much time making it, and put so many details into each room, and everything was hand crafted in clay. I should’ve asked for it back, but my teacher had put it on display in his classroom, and I felt like it would be weird to ask for it back after that! The playset for Ra’s’ Lazarus Pit would be awesome! Such an amazing concept! I don’t know how or why they passed on that! Easily would’ve sold a ton of units! I know I’ve hassled you about a job several times, but I have 3 characters already thought up for your Action Force line, that I feel you would love! I just wish you’d let me pitch them to you! I know you keep saying you can’t for legal reasons! I just want to work for your company so badly! I really just want to write stories, either in comic or novel form format, for your characters and teams!
Very insightful wow that's challenging but very satisfactory great designs by the way , thank you for hearing to us the fan and for making videos sharing the tips & trade of how the Toy design industry works thanks agian Mr. Vala . Much respect !
Good back ground on toys I love your stuff not trying to suck up just true I'm really a WWII action figure guy but your sets are the best on the market so far just keep it up. I'm a old man 69 but still a kid at heart.
Back in the day there were Megabloks / Megabrands Plasmatech robots that had mix/match balljoints and they came in these awesome cool droppods. So this idea of a 2-3 inch action figure simple pop-of joints in a blind bag/box and just collect and collect. Repaint and repaintz, it would be crazy cool. And if you keep them a bit small you can do playsets (vehicles that fold open into a base or battlefield) stuff later down the line. That would be awesome!
Thank you for sharing your experiences. It’s fascinating to hear how you got to where you are. I went to an art school that also made us buy there giant large portfolio bag kit and I suspect there was some shady dealings going on with that as well.
Funny thing: I too designed a platypus back when I worked for an animation company. That platypus design later became the inspiration for Perry the Platypus.
Wow, so much impressive stuff! It really shows how skilled you are - and how diverse your skills are. How much time did you have for these assignments on average? Are we talking days or weeks? I had an idea and designed a toyline around it and tried to be brash by passing it around and sending it to basically every toycompany I could find, but I didn't get a single answer expect from you, Bobby. While that was still a negative ("can't look at it for legal reasons"), at least it was an answer. There is nothing worse than being met with defeating silence :(. Still, I'm just a bit confused on how to share ideas, if no one is allowed to look at them in the first place
Ohh, you should do a deep dive on soft goods! More specifically, soft goods for 1/12 scale such as Mezco or, hopefully, future Valaverse figures. How does pattern drafting differ from full size clothes? Do they have special machines or equipment for such tiny projects? Do regular toy factories handle this or do they hire it out to doll factories or actual sewing factories? So many questions!
As a toy design student(otis), your videos are super inspiring! Thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge! Look forward to watching your videos every Saturday!😆
Oooo blind box heads, hands, guns or random bits in the "box". I would maybe buy a case of blind boxes to have my kids who love opening them up and I'll add them to existing figures to create another cooler trooper.
If Action Force is your G.I. Joe why not make the Red Panda your TMNT. You can make the Insectoids the villains. You could even throw in Military Mutt. Make them Imaginext size and you can do a playset.
i love this insight. deep down i was hoping for that mike honcho concept art. then i realized it was a "toy industry video" and not the trade school video. entertaining and equally informative. pemba reminded me of the ewok movie.
@@Valaverse i mean if Gi Joe can have things like the Fatal Fluffys, the Intruder, Gordon King of the Terron, and that space junk then why couldn't action force have some genetically altered red panda that can walk on it rear legs, talk, and carry a gun? i'd buy it
Really enjoy how this channel has been evolving. At first I wasn’t a huge fan because you seemed pretty negative (might have just been the topics you were covering) but over time I’ve grown to really enjoy your content.
I just like to watch your point of view or mindset in your videos!! Making a toy line or work in a toy industry is hard, that is why I stay collecting!! 😂👍
I agree with the sentiments on Imaginext. My prediction is that after Lego and Playmobil, Imaginext will become the next big form factor line for collectors. I myself have several of their play sets and they do not disappoint.
Absolutely loved this video Bobby, what a great insight into your profession & how you got started 🤩, coming from Australia 🇦🇺 my favourite piece of yours was the platypus of course 😊
I have a few digital renders and art i made of figures and heard nothing from any company lol. Lord knows i need a break rn. My rgb and joker one im proud of right now.
Would you say it was essential for a toy designer to also be a good artist ? The few toy designers I have ever watched anything about are also good at art or sculpture . I know it must help massively to present your ideas but were I thirty years younger with the artistic talent of a potato that I possess , would it be possible for young me to get into the business , or is it only for people with an initial artistic talent to then progress into toy design .
'Hairball.'. There really is no 'before' period for you, is there?😆 I think the Insectoids mught make a good future Swarm wave, albeit more of a mix&match, kit-bashing motif than actual storyline.
Sorry to disappoint you, but in general, by far the biggest money in today's toy industry are being made in toys intended for kids aged seven and under (first-graders, kindergarten and toddlers). Would you buy this playset?
Would buy play-set’s and a mech suit
Make it modular, so you can add other sets and accessory packs to it...
Without a doubt I would buy the Lazarus pit... i only collect Jason Todd figures so that playset would fit perfectly in my collection 😊
Yes, I would also buy the Pembra stuffed and action figures, along with the story book.
No, but I would love the insectoids
I can’t wait for the Valaverse panda line. 😂😂😂
This was cool. I really enjoyed it.

Love the Insectoid idea!
Hey Bobby I would love to see a video on how the process of making action force figures from start to end!!!!!
We kind of did that with our video on our 100th figure reveal

Bobby I am done for the insectios sounds something cool that the swarm would create to battle the Action Force team. I am down for it.
Valaverse should make and sell the Hairball game. My kids saw that and went nuts.

Hell yeah I would buy it too it looks sweet

I'd buy a 6" red panda figure with all those accessories.
The blind bag insectoids is a neat idea but I'd worry about getting a bunch of arms or heads...maybe more than 1 part per bag?
Let’s see more of this red panda. More comic , plush just like this one. And a whole fleet of red pandas. DO IT!
That was so cool seeing how you come up.
“Why do I have to help people? I should be rewarded for finishing early”………..this says so much about the type of person Bobby is lol

20:32 - Lego had a toyline named 'Insectoids' in the late 1990s. It was sci-fi; a sub-theme and a faction from their long-running 'Space Theme'.
Oh yea?
@@Valaverse Yep. Google it up.
"Lego Space Insectoids".
As a toy design student(otis), your videos are super inspiring! Thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge! Look forward to watching your videos every Saturday!😆
Sounds like quite a journey! You should make a figure with a tactical platypus accessory!
Time for the drive.
Driving!

Insectoids: mechanical weapon systems. Series of drones that you could purchase ammo crates for different weapon add ons. That would be cool
Hate PowerPoint, u might want to market your storybook!❤😂
This is oh so interesting, I love this video!
when does the red panda get a figure in action force?
Interesting.

Well, we have one buyer! haha.
@Valaverse It would sell like hot cakes if you went the futuristic military + animals route. Wide open at the moment.
Yeah he can be an animal sidekick like Timber.

Thats why i failed at art school. The stuff i wanted to do was great, but the assigned stuff less so
That imaginext playset is awesome. Reminds me if the Captain Power base
I agree with the sentiments on Imaginext. My prediction is that after Lego and Playmobil, Imaginext will become the next big form factor line for collectors. I myself have several of their play sets and they do not disappoint.
What did a day of class in toy design look like? Is there toy design theory? Principles in marketing or plastics or something?
Absolutely loved this video Bobby, what a great insight into your profession & how you got started 🤩, coming from Australia 🇦🇺 my favourite piece of yours was the platypus of course 😊
That vulture plane you designed looks sweet i would buy it if you made it for action force
Awesome story time!
Dang Bro! You are an overachiever. Good data. Thank you for your content.
Cool! I also studied industrial design.
I have a few digital renders and art i made of figures and heard nothing from any company lol. Lord knows i need a break rn. My rgb and joker one im proud of right now.
My issue is trying to get my digital and art to physical then to retail lol i have my work here on TH-cam in shorts i believe
Insectoids.... Go for it as a Micronaut line of interchangeable toys. vehicles and alien robot bugs.
I'd be all over that like a fat kid on a twinkie!
The most impressive thing you said to me, was you graduated the Joe Kubert school.
Maybe you can connect the insectoids to the Swarm, but still keep it blind box.
I would buy that red panda that looked awesome
I went a little crazy getting my son imaginext toys when he was little, lol. I think I liked them more than he did.
I applied for toy design at FIT I didn’t get in lol
I think Insectoids is a good idea. They could be sentries or medical bots/assistant. Really anything.
You should grab de license of Resident evil, you have half of the way done.
Imaginext had some fun stuff. I have the Azrael from that line.
Irealy want to see Insector became true, excelent video 'Imagination is more important than knowledge” peace.

They did make an imaginext ras al ghul. My son has one.
speaking of blindbox..do you know about blokees?
yess! would totally be down for some insectoids!!!
FIRST
@@LaserPants woohooooo!
You like Egyptian stuff eh? Maybe a future AF Egyptian figure? With an eye of horus or onch tattoo?
I feel like this video is a response to my constant harassment 😂😅
Hell yea, Insectoids
I would be down to by insectoids! Great video as always!
