@@pattihonnold9572 yeah I think Andrew doesn't like brazil for some reason. I been to Santa Marta last year. If you like being asked for money by bums every 2 minutes it's a great place. Brazil you don't have that problem the beaches my god are unbelievable! The currency is 5 to 1. The people are thousand times better then say Honduras. You can get a place on a more secluded beach I'm sure for 75K. In Guaruja a world renowned beach and expensive there you get one for 90K. If you go a little off the beaten path I'm sure you get one half that price.

yes, i agree. There's a huge bias against Brazil in general. It's most based off stereotyped image and propaganda about the place. Another thing is Brazil is sort isolated in the sense of it's culture and language, it's very different than anywhere else in Latin America and people from the US are more familiar with hispanics.

Thinking about taking some money and buying 3-4 properties on beach and listing them on Airbnb. We're actually flying to Cali Colombia to visit her family in 2 days. One thing after living in many Latin American beach areas, was the hot, dry climate I found too unpleasant. It took me awhile after being there to realize I would never want to live in and even opt out of visiting a hot, dry and dusty place. It depends on the ocean currents but some beaches are more lush, cooler and find those more pleasant.

      @toddklumb7855 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@christopherhouse7937 I like some of them. They vary depending on the ocean currents and the topography. There are issues living on the beach. I lived in the Galapagos and a few months of the year the beaches were infested with jelly fish, garabage or a bacteria that could make you sick. I prefer the mountains in Ecuador.

I’ve been to Santa Marta and Cartegna. Prefer SM, but wasn’t my favorite. I spent time on Ecuador’s beaches and was pleasantly surprised. Playa del Villamil is 90 minutes outside of Guayaquill. Continuing up the coast towards Salinas are a lot of awesome beaches. Salinas had nice beaches but wasn’t impressive. Yet continue up the coast to Montañita and Olon and the beaches are beautiful. Sunsets are terrific.
Then you mention Roatan and I am there now. Lovely island. Not a lot of beaches. But great food and diving. Laid back. It’s hard to leave this area of the world.

San Juan del Sur is a nice party/tourist town. I found the countrywide infrastructure in Nicaragua to be somewhat lacking. The east coast is actually more beautiful, but except for the Corn Islands, it's not developed (and perhaps not even civilized). I'm not stuck on the beach. You can always travel to a beach. I want good daily living, and there are many places in Colombia that I think do that better. Medellin is a wonderful place if you like large cities, and there are small pueblos all around it if you prefer to get away from cities. I haven't been to Argentina, but so far I think Colombia offers the best quality of life for me.

Heads up on Santa Marta. I know a tourist who was almost kidnapped there. If safety is a concern, I'd avoid any consideration living there.
Cartagena has a very beautiful and safe central city with lots of police, but the beaches in Cartagena city are terrible. You have to go to Playa Blanca nearby which is beautiful but you'll spend the day being harassed by massage girls and have to constantly watch your stuff.
Colombia has some great parts to visit, but the beach areas in the north are still sketchy and the governments there are corrupt.
However, If you like the mountains and less of a beach person though, highly recommend Medellin which has some great neighborhoods.

My wife has always loved the idea of living in Switzerland, but you've mentioned a few times that "taxes, living there, aren't great...".
I'd be curious to see a video from you on the current status of Switzerland from the perspective of someone with your uniquely extensive knowledge of such things.
More specifically as a UK citizen who earns his money from selling digital assets - I _could_ live anywhere (in theory); but as you've mentioned, doing so in Western Europe is a bit of a nightmare, especially if you're looking to work towards second citizenship.
Switzerland seemed like a good compromise to me for "low tax" (certainly not 0 tax like some 'pundits' suggest Switzerland is...), but I'm seeing fewer and fewer people suggest it.

Coastal land usually has to be "leased" in a trust, so you have to pay the ongoing fee and even if you become a citizen it's difficult to get out of the fees unless you sell the property. Live 50 miles inland and you can own it directly.

You have to consider reliable security.
    And that's why it's cheap...
Because you gonna buy a Property and then you gonna get robbed in the future at some point or even worse
But hey.....it's your life and your money
    And its yours to lose

I sold a plot of land and my car for the purpose of obtaining a Vanuatu passport through investment. Five months after I obtained the Vanuatu citizenship and passport, the European Commission imposed a ban on Vanuatu citizens from entering the European Union, so what is the solution?

    • @dennishassler605
      @dennishassler605 ปีที่แล้ว

Do not enter the EU - there's better places to go.

Santa Marta is a good option but curious about Nicaragua as it's off the beaten path (for now).

Andrew ... I can't stop laughing about this list, too funny
International Living is not a reliable source for anything
I bought a 70m2 2 bedroom apto in the south of Brasil for $26,000, worst thing is I have to drive 10 minutes to go to the beach ! Very civilized and safe and a lot of english speakers
Prices have gone up due to Covid just like in the US, BUT I expect them to return to normal soon, maybe 25% lower. Might buy another place then
Brasilians grew up with the Flintstones, Mayberry and Scooby DO, they love the US culture
What's not to like ? Read it and weep
I am a world traveller, 45 countries but have never been to Mexico, might be worth a look. On the other hand, I'd rather be much further away from the US when it's attacked by the next terrorists
Portugal is on my radar but afraid it's too expensive, way more expensive than Brasil, know it and like it

Ten minutes isn't much - just get a bicycle. Next time, pay a little more to be closer? It's economical, but for those working there the wages are very low. A friend has a house he rents for $100/mo. there - I laugh and say "how can you even maintain it for so little?"

Anyone else for reclaiming all of SA aquired stuff funded by slavery?
    Anyone.?
I know there were a few back in the day.
Now, even just that will shatter them.
We can all just gaslight it together.

Most of the cartel violence is near the Mexico/US border. It’s better in the more established areas of Mexico, just keep aware of your surroundings.

I AM a woman living and traveling in Mexico and there are a lot of safe cities. Cartela are found at the US Border also states like Jalisco, Sinaloa, Veracruz,Nuevo León, but there are a lot of safe places.
