    Hey Valerie,
    Thanks for you videos!
    Which dorm would you recommend the most? Especially community feeling and atmosphere? I’ll be in Kyoto starting Oktober 2021 :D

      Yeah I was wondering the same because it’s hard to find any recommendations online

    Hi Valerie! Thank you for your video.
    I was granted the MEXT scholarship for Kyoto University and will be arriving in Japan in April. Could you tell me more about the housing application? How difficult is it to get it? Should I apply for it now?

    • @alwaysvalerierae

      karaiwonder Hello! The housing is chosen by a lottery system so it will be random. In the application you’ll rank the international dorms by 1-6 (1 being the highest) however you can choose to omit some. I would go ahead and apply as early as possible!

      Hi, I'm currently applying for a MEXT scholarship. Did you get an undergraduate one?

    Hello!There‘s this fully funded scholarship called "Kakehashi". This is also a branch of MEXT, if I applied to Kakehashi do you think am still eligible enough to have the scholarship of Kyoto?

    • @alwaysvalerierae
      @alwaysvalerierae  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Although I've never heard of Kakehashi, I did have a few friends at Kyoto Uni that were on the MEXT program and were able to pay for everything and still have a small amount for other spendings!!

    How much do you pay per month for the rent and utility bills?

    • @alwaysvalerierae
      @alwaysvalerierae  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! My rent was 38,200 yen a month and my electricity varied from about $20 usd to around $30 usd. I think my electricity was that much mainly because my exchange was during the spring/summer time and I was using the a/c a lot. Hope this helps!

      @@rohannarecoter2293 If you have the same type of room as me in Yoshida, it should be the same amount!
