I attended the Michigan State Democratic Convention on Saturday, August 24, 2024. It was outstanding. Even got my picture taken with Michigan's Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Voting blue up and down the ballot. 💙💙💙💙💙 I am a Navy Veteran, my son is at the Naval Academy class of 2027 and is a prior enlisted with 5 years of enlisted service; and I have a daughter in the 82nd Airborne in North Carolina. I am voting blue because, as a veteran and a mother, I know the only way to protect our country and our democracy is to vote for a competent, intelligent, individual with integrity, to lead our nation. 💙💙💙💙💙

CHECK YOUR VOTING STATUS. I'm a Democrat in a very red state (Arkansas). I just received a letter from the state that said I am no longer eligible to vote because I moved to another address. I have lived at the same address since 1986 and vote in every election. CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION.
Have you checked whether that letter is real? Maybe it's an attempt at election manipulation, making you think you are not able to vote

I am 63 years old, white, male, a dual citizen of Australia and the United Kingdom, resident in Melbourne, Australia. I do not consider myself to be an intellectual, but I was a Commonwealth Scholar at the University of Oxford and I have a doctorate in literature and history. I mention these things not to big-note myself but to provide some brief context for my remarks.

The constitutional history of the United States of America was deformed by the institution of slavery, and those deformities are still visible today.
The greatest country in the world is not one that elects judges.
The greatest country in the world is not one without a universal security system for the unemployed, the sick, the disabled and the elderly.
The greatest country in the world is not one where a gun is a household object.
The greatest country in the world is not one where 45 per cent of the registered voting population choose a manifest imbecile as their chief executive.
The United States of America is one of the three most powerful players in world affairs. For better or worse, the United States of America is the nation we smaller nations in Oceania and in Western Europe look to for help in staving off injustice and tyranny.
That is why your presidential elections matter to us. We are not nosing into something that is none of our business: it is our business.
Get real about who you are. You are not ‘the greatest country on earth’, but you are a very powerful and influential country, and the preservation of your version of democracy is essential to a hopeful future for all of us.
Kamala Harris is not the Messiah, but she is clearly a sane and intelligent person. That’s all we ask for in a President of the United States.
How, therefore, in God’s name, can this be ‘a tight race’?
