Our German broadcaster always manages to mess up something. They literally promoted the most famous people competing (Max Mutzke & Marie Reim) WAY more than they did with the others. It honestly suprised me to see Isaak win, I thought we'd send the worst choice possible, Max Mutzke. That song would be fresh like 30 years ago, if ever.
So, i have many thoughts here. But i added 3 songs to my national playlist at spotify - Ryk, Bodine Monet and Isaak´s. And i have been listening actively to all of them. My favourite of them was Ryk´s but i also liked Isaak´s a lot. I really really like the tone of Isaak´s voice and how strong it was. I don´t think, it was a bad choice. Would´ve Ryk been better - for me personally yes. But seeing the stage performance, it seemed that Isaak´s voice seemed more powerful somehow - so i am happy for the result either way. It was just so surprising how wrong the betting odds have been lately. I woke up this morning (couldn´t watch national final because it was too late) and i was expecting it to be Ryk but it was Isaak. So i am worried for Estonia (my own country) now. If the betting odds are wrong most of the time.
I voted for Isaak because I was most impressed by his live performance. I found Ryk's and Bodine's songs more interesting, but unfortunately they didn't hit all the notes live and you could hear their nervousness vocally. That wasn't the case with Isaak at all, and he also brought so much energy to the stage in his own very unique way that it ultimately impressed me more than the slightly better songs by Bodine and Ryk, which I also liked.
"Give him a proper staging in Malmö" - haha, tue. The thing is that it seems we in Germany just don't how to do proper staging (or we don't have the budget). I mean, look at the whole show - I'm truly embarassed of how cheap this looked. "Singer just standing there" is not a visiual concept. Isaak at least a sort of a concept, though it's barely conneted to the song. I feel so bad for him (and some the other artists) - they were not given much to work with. And this was NDRs decision.
Is it the best song this year? NO. But is it last place? Definitely not. This actually sounds good compared to the James Newman comparisons. This guy can sing like Lewis Capaldi.
I was 100% team Ryk or Bodine, but I have been listening to Always on the run along side them and enjoy it too aha - I'm honestly just glad it wasn't Max
That voice though, that’s going to carry the performance in Malmö, if they find a way to concentrate it on his vocals and really practice a good staging, this could do surprisingly well!
My favorite was Ryk, I voted for him too, but in the end it wasn't enough. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed for ISAAK that he doesn't come last. It's a solid radio song, no question, but Ryk's song would have been better suited to the ESC.
I like this song loads but ngl this might not work for ESC. Isaak delivered an incredible live vocal, he clearly feels the song which is good, the lighting is good, the staging was cool but it had no impact, the song is so catchy, the backing vocals are great, I love the progression, the song has an amazing message, I like the rocky feel to it, the visuals in the video are incredible and it is so well produced. Ngl Germany threw away a sure top 10 though with Ryk but not completely discounting this entry because it was my second place overall in the selection in terms of potential for ESC. A lot of it has to be changed for ESC of course with the performance and how he connects to the camera. It could be a dark horse but just a lot of things have to go right for it to win ofc because it could get top 10 in the juries and get between 15th-20th with a solid televote score for them that gets them out of the bottom 5. But if this doesn’t work out they always have Ryk and everything about him is incredible and they could just internally select him next year with a song equally as good as Oh Boy and do really well and they should honestly go with that process for a few years if it doesn’t work out because the German public and juries (which should’ve had Ryk winning) never make the right choices. Good luck to Germany I guess but this is not nearly as good as you could be with Always On The Run. Good luck to Isaak regardless and I know that fans are giving him hate right now for winning and that won’t die down which is so harsh and unfair. I hate the fandom and how it operates because they just freak out when non-fan faves of selections get chosen and he doesn’t deserve any of it because he seems like a good guy. Anyway my score for this is a 7.5/10 but it could definitely grow on me as I love the song and the live performance will definitely be elevated in Malmo.
Decent is not what you should be aiming for though. Decent is far too often a recipe for an undeserved and accidental last place because you just never rank high enough to actually get any points under the current system. You can be no one’s last place yet still place last.
i think people are having a bit of an overreaction to this song. i was rooting for Ryk myself, and i thought that the international juries voted super illogically, placing him 5th - he had an impeccable live performance. moreover, the broadcaster allowed voters to KEEP VOTING AFTER THE JURY RESULTS which i personally think is just unprofessional. the show was also just poorly paced and produced, leading into audience frustration. that being said, if your experience of Isaak's win is not tainted by a horribly late, horribly boring and horribly managed national selection show, his performance is solid and, although a bit too generic to my taste, the song is catchy and well-produced enough. he seems really sweet and i hope he gets Germany out of the last place hell.
Isaac should start running already. If Germany doesn't participate this year at all, they will get a better place than sending this uninspired, generic song.
Okay but you have a right to an opinion but this is not the way to express it. Isaak has just as much a chance to do well as any of the other contestants! He has every right to be there as all the other contestants! Germany WILL do well this year and Isaak WILL get the glory he deserves in Malmö! Good night!
Thank you for your honest and authentic reaction!
For me it‘s the best German entry ever! ❤️🇩🇪🙏🏻

That Ryk didn't win is...Idk sounds cringy but Im heart broken for him. He was favourite for WEEKS since the decision came out

You are very optimistic.
I'm just back from a trip... either I'm too tired, or I had too much fun ahah

Ich habe für Isaak angerufen, sehr starker Sänger und der Song gefällt mir auch!

I like it.
I love this song! ❤

Wow the only positive reaction I’ve seen here and I think the same . First I wanted Ryk like most of us . I’m very hopeful too.❤

I have the feeling we cant avoid the last places with this, even personally i really this song,
But hopefully i'm wrong

Oh Jude - hope they don’t come last- that’s a low bar! Poor decision here, I think. Oh Boy came across well and was the one to send out to bat.
Its not bad at all
When it comes to staging expect nothing from Germany...
So disturbing. Im so tired to get last again
I dont see this finishing last in the finals. Its a good song
@@19Rena96 last in the final.

The leader of FLOPTV Rebecca More is really disappointed in germany...
He can sing okay. The song is apt but a bit plodding and predictable. He seems like a nice guy, though.
He has a good voice. I don't like the song very much but Isaak can easily be between places 10 and 20.

Voted 20 times for Ryk but it didnt helped😭😂
Voted 80 times lmao 😭😭😭 i cried hahhahha
This makes you happy for Germany? You mean they enjoy following their path of the last years towards a certain position in the final results board?
A great voice, but the song is very non-descript. Another bottom 5 result for Germany
Why Not Ryk Germany what are you so???
