Why? He'd been in the exact opposite situation back in the ancient Puff/Peach fight years ago, and Armada nearly won. For him to just do this seems like he's being a proud git.
Shine grab is not guaranteed. You can roll or spotdodge, and sometimes other OoS options are possible (depending on how stale shine is, whether it is Fox or Falco, and how quickly the player does the input).
I also notice M2K either adjusts his glasses or scratches his head, hahah. I also see a lot of other players wipe one hand on their lap after dying. Leffen usually looks a bit to the right or left and tilts his head with his eyes closed. A lot of players with their own mannerisms.
Commentary is pretty biased. They spend every game talking about what Sethlon/Roy does well/poorly, and never really about what Mango/Fox is doing right/wrong. Just try to use both player's names more often, guys.
it's probably because everyone has seen fox a million times so they know what's up with him, whereas there aren't many roys so they are more drawn to him
I might be willing to accept that, if it didn't continue in Grand Finals where Sethlon is facing Zero's Pit, who is also a non-fox character you don't see much. I mean, I get it, Sethlon is Oracle's boy. If he wants to commentate tho, he should stop riding his D all the time.
"The roll doesn't take up the ledge as long as it does in melee" somewhat true... It depends on the character. While rolling would work better for wolf, Roy has a lot of hangtime in the air, and for some reason, he grabs the ledge quickly (kind of like the doctor in melee). But the trick to beating roy is staying on the ledge. Roy has so much hang time, but he can't attack after he reaches his max velocity, so it is really ease to edgeguard him... you just have to stay on ledge.
That's true, but roy's recovery is pretty slow and obvious if Roy is knocked far enough off the stage. So with easy prediction, he is extremley easy to edgeguard (if he is knocked far enough) Mango just instinctively rolled because with every other character, that's how you edge guard them due to their low hangtime.
May I ask why does so much of Project M music seem to be Techno and Drum and Bass? Just seems odd that its the most prominent genre in its soundtracks.
I think many, if not most Project M tournament builds use the KTAR 8 music pack, which contains a lot of Techno and Drum and Bass. Hell, my builds uses that music pack, it's great!
This is generalized and subject to change based on your area. Round 1 is neutrals only (stages like Battlefield and Smashville). Players then take turns banning stages until there is one neutral left and play there. Round 2 and beyond, the winner gets to ban 2 stages among the neutrals and counterpicks. After that, the loser picks the stage. Both players can change characters.
I'm confused with a lot of questions... Why is there two videos of Mango vs Sethlon at the same tournament? Why is one a winner finals match, and this one a losers finals match? Which one happened first? Were there multiple tournaments in one tournament or something? PS Sethlon is the man.
Tournaments are doube elimination. Everyone starts out in the winner's bracket, and if you lose 1 game, you go to the loser's bracket. If you lose to someone in winner's finals (or any part of winner's bracket), sometimes you will make your way through loser's bracket and play them again. The tournament keeps going until all but one player have lost a set in winner's and loser's bracket.
Damnit, sorry. I used to know it... (All this music I remember came from Keitaro's build of PM. So you could just download that and bam all the song names.)
A Fennekin I searched for that song for awhile found out it's called "comeback undetaker". Just search youtube for "comeback undertaker touhou" and you will find it
DarkLeviathan8 He prefers Melee, but he will enter PM just to do it. He has never played a friendly of PM though. All he does is just pick fox and pretends it's melee.
In competitive play countering isn't the best. If you screw up the timing you are left open for some serious punishment. If the punishment is timed well enough you could even lose a stock and not be prepared. Really just the risk and reward doesn't make it worth while, but the characters who just so happen to have counters tend to be seen a lot in competitive. A little weird how that works out, not a very useful down B, but everything else is pretty much a death sentence.
When you don't know how, let them on stage and knock them off, or since Sethlon went to the ledge so much, grab ledge, maybe throw in an invincible refresh, or abuse how far your recovery is and intercept your fellow fast-faller with something like a bair. Or try moving in when Roy's sword is curling back after staying a little outside of range (this method is much harder than vs Marth). If you have a dsmash with more horizontal range than Fox, this becomes easier, and just doing a bair or something off the ledge is also pretty good as floatier characters. The onstage hit while they go for a sweet spot probably isn't worth the effort, but it will work for you some of the time.
I'd like to clarify that this isn't an issue of "praise vs punishment" or "praise vs no praise" as some of these studies address. Rather is it "praise vs criticism." Though I don't mean to disregard these studies, I find personally that I learn better from hearing what I can improve on rather than what I already have done right. Doing both would seem most effective to me, but my underlying point is that we shouldn't be afraid to criticize one another for the sake of betterment.
I am yet to believe that this has been proven such that positive reinforcement is best in every possible case of education. Everyone is different, and even if most people learn better with positive reinforcement, I don't think the majority can speak for everyone. It seems to me that positive reinforcement is to keep a subject's emotion in check. As an unemotional person, I much prefer for honesty in training. I'd like to know exactly what I'm doing good and bad rather than that "I did a good job, congratulations!" This sort of positive reinforcement seems like a psychological thing. It seems reasonable that this approach would just be a waste of time for some subjects, and it seems ridiculous to affirm that this reinforcement is best for everybody. Also, this situation is a little different than normal. Since most viewers are not emotionally connected to the performance of a player in a match, I think it is best for the education of the audience to point out what a player is doing good and bad, to be honest, rather than positively inflated. If a player is doing nothing but bad, it is dishonest to hunt for something good to say. And if you say something is good when it isn't, I would argue that is more of a problem than saying nothing at all.
Also, under what authority are you affirming that any sort of "Theory of Positive Training" is now fact, and has transitioned into the "Law of Positive Training," or some equivalent? Theories do not become facts after some arbitrary amount of studies or uncontested lifespan of a study. There is a strict process of scientific peer review that theories must go through. You have not brought evidence of this process forth.
+Jason Spykerman yes, but he loses vs. A roy, and fox is better in tier lists than roy, he plays a bit "good" here because Project M is similar to melee
I like how mango's shine pressure syncs with the music at 2:10
Great to see Roy pull through in PM
Man PM matches are always pleasant to watch for the music alone. All the custom tracks added sound great.
Can confirm PM players usually have amazing taste in music they mod in their game.
+CeratedWaffles I love Etrian Odyssey
4:49 Welcome to Project M!
Mango used the rare stock cancel at the end. Not seen a lot in competitive play
What's that?
Abat Imu A suicide. You cancel your stock. Typically seen on accident tho.
Why? He'd been in the exact opposite situation back in the ancient Puff/Peach fight years ago, and Armada nearly won. For him to just do this seems like he's being a proud git.
***** it was a joke dude...
***** to be fair, Mango IS a proud git.
Shine grab is not guaranteed. You can roll or spotdodge, and sometimes other OoS options are possible (depending on how stale shine is, whether it is Fox or Falco, and how quickly the player does the input).
The good Ol' days
Has anyone else noticed that every time mango lost a stock he brushed his hair, scratched his arm, or wiped his nose? Like, every time.
It's body to show that he still has confidence to win or a sort of way to provide relief from nervousness.
I think it just signifies his concentration being broken.
he's brushing his hair like marth.
SAMissileChaser GG Is that a Warframe logo ?
I also notice M2K either adjusts his glasses or scratches his head, hahah. I also see a lot of other players wipe one hand on their lap after dying. Leffen usually looks a bit to the right or left and tilts his head with his eyes closed. A lot of players with their own mannerisms.
What is the music on Battlefield game 1?
That HxH soundtrack at the end
Randy was probably the sole reason Sethlon lost Game 4. That tech chase at 13:52 was god-like.
A remix of EO3's battle theme!?!
The HunterXHunter music after each round kept on baiting me, I thought my episode was playing in the other tab XD
what song are they playing on battle field
This matchup was really cool to watch!
Anyone know where I can get MP3's of these menu/battle songs?
This reminds me why I dig PM so much.
Lol the Hunter Hunter music at the end of the video. Amazing anime by the way.
what is the song called at the character selection screen 0:00 to 0:40 ?
I missed Sethlon, nice to see his awesome Roy back into action!
@11:35 the music playing in the background is the hunter x hunter 2011 ost that's crazy
1:48
That's grab armor. It is present in vanilla Brawl too.
Commentary is pretty biased. They spend every game talking about what Sethlon/Roy does well/poorly, and never really about what Mango/Fox is doing right/wrong.

I mean, I get it, Sethlon is Oracle's boy. If he wants to commentate tho, he should stop riding his D all the time.
They're only like that in the first game between these two. The rest of the time, they alternate pretty effectively based on the action itself.
Dude, I watched all of it. No they don't. Every game they commentate that Sethlon's in, it's like that. I think they're from the same state.
PJBxx Except you see PM pits all the time and you don't see roys as much, so no.
"The roll doesn't take up the ledge as long as it does in melee" somewhat true... It depends on the character. 11:35 Hunter x Hunter?
So I'm not the only one....
My brethren
Dude yeah!! I love that music.
Kai Lyman I swear to god the first time I saw him play pm and win i heard that shit and I was wondering if anyone else did..
It was at the end too
I know this game is out to people in japan also. Anyone know of any videos from them? Can't find any.
Mango's pride was spared.
Lost with a 3x2 result rather than 3x1. Dat stage save.
11:58 song if anyone knows it, as well?
widescreen format nice
Any way I could find out about the music they used for these matches?

Maybe because of the release trailer for 3.0 was a techno song. Either way, it does suit the smash bros feel
Vene2121
where can i download that pack?
Yo, just search youtube for KTAR 8 Music Pack.
+Vene2121 thanks
What is the music in the character selection screen?
Tight set. Good showing by both players.
Can someone help me out with what happened at 11:26?
Powershield, first hit of side-b, grab, F-throw, tech chase F-Smash. What about it?
Walter Chen you sir, have earned my respect
Can someone link me to the ivysaur game the commentators are referencing?
What's the song name for Yoshi's Island? Full name and artist please.
+TheRealBitterbub IZMIZM - Undertaker
I'm not a tourney player, can someone explain how stage bans and counter-picks work?
This is generalized and subject to change based on your area.
Round 1 is neutrals only (stages like Battlefield and Smashville). Players then take turns banning stages until there is one neutral left and play there.
Round 2 and beyond, the winner gets to ban 2 stages among the neutrals and counterpicks. After that, the loser picks the stage. Both players can change characters.

The tournament keeps going until all but one player have lost a set in winner's and loser's bracket.
This is a commonly asked question probably but what is the menu theme being used? It isn't in the KTAR 8 pack, is it?
Feint - Always Here
3 years late
What's that music on Yoshi's?
13:50 to 14:27
Shows how broken this game can be, hahaha
Great set, well played by both! Wish my Roy was this fast.
I'm liking this neutral unbiased commentary :-)
5:03, anyone got this song name?
Mighty Force- Track 6 Exothermal
thank you.
Whoops I got the wrong name, It's actually "Mighty Switch Force 2- Exothermic". Sorry about the confusion.
S'all cool. still got the track.c: thanks
what is the song at 5:10?
Might be a bit late, but the song is «Exothermic» from Mighty Switch Force 2
First match has to be Etrian Odyssey 3 music. 1st battle theme remixed.

YO I JUST NOTICED THAT HXH OST IN THE BACKGROUND
does anyone know the name of the song in battlefield in the first set?(That isn´t darude sandstorm).
Damnit, sorry. I used to know it... (All this music I remember came from Keitaro's build of PM. So you could just download that and bam all the song names.)
Thanks:) but do you mean I should download his build of PM?
Pepe Alonso Nah nevermind, don't worry about that part. (The music Keitaro put in PM is amazing. XD)
A Fennekin I searched for that song for awhile found out it's called "comeback undetaker". Just search youtube for "comeback undertaker touhou" and you will find it
List of tracks in this video?
was that hunter x hunter music at the end?
Whats the name of the song they used on Yoshi's on game 4?
It's some remix of Demystify Feast. I haven't been able to find out which remix it is though.

At 04:50 that guy one from the left is just like: "Bruh"
These narrators crack me up. They sound like they're in a library.
I'm guessing roy and fox have more even matchups in project m, or is sethlon just a god?

what is this song?!
Only the hypest of gameplay.
I didn't know Mango played PM.. I thought he wouldn't like it and would stick to Melee, but I guess that's still kindof what he's doing xD
DarkLeviathan8 He prefers Melee, but he will enter PM just to do it. He has never played a friendly of PM though. All he does is just pick fox and pretends it's melee.
"Oh waow." ~Annoying Commentator, 2014.
+Jeran Hemphill His wow makes me laugh
9:51 best comeback i even seen
4:50 I think my control would be dead of throwing it around..
Dat game 1 ending though, hahaha.
Dayum that Roy though. I wish Seth went up against Nick's Link. Roy vs. Link isn't a common matchup.
Why doesn't roy counter that much?
In competitive play countering isn't the best. If you screw up the timing you are left open for some serious punishment. IZMIZM-undertaker song that plays on yoshi's stage,gg btw
That moonwalk at 10:05 :D
Commentators too negative on Roy. Learn to be positive and focus on the positive?
you can learn a lot more from criticism than praise.
Can you link some of those studies here please?

Project M is a perfect game.
Lmao its not a "game".
Spongbob Squarepants Haha, your right, *my bad* for not realizing that it's really just a Cheeseburger. ;D (sarcasm)
Enny O. I love you for that comeback man
Jordan Cottrell How the f'ck is that a comeback? it aint a game lol mod
Spongbob Squarepants
Oh wait sorry, forgot it's a toaster.
Oh WOW!
I wish Mango would learn some of the PM nuances, he could be way better... obviously
We need to see mango vs zero
DAMNIT RANDY
Apparently mr big randy only likes kitsune foxes no anime swordsman here.
"Oh waow!"
"OH WOW"
Isn't that disrespectful to suicide like that at the end? It's a genuine question. I don't know.
I think most players wouldn't interprete suiciding as disrespectful.
Confirmed: Mang0 is good only in Melee xD
+Zimmer Cooper were you even watching?
+Jason Spykerman yes, but he loses vs. A roy, and fox is better in tier lists than roy, he plays a bit "good" here because Project M is similar to melee
+Zimmer Cooper you dont know shit, mangos the goat
+Jason Spykerman fanboy ;), he's Good at melee, but not in the other smash games
+Zimmer Cooper the fact youre saying hes not even "good" at any other smash is ridiculous,
Everyone's good at pm lol
Oh *Wooooooooaaaaooowww*
