I was so sad to hear the work on the sequel had been canned. Besides Homeworld we don't have enough good space battle games out there and I really loved Nexus's aesthetic and the way the ships moved in all three dimensions. I really hope Homeworld 3 does well commercially so it encourages others to bring out more games in this genre.
This game is frustrating for every reason infoguy stated, but still worth a try if your into the genre. For me it pushes my imagination to something that it could have been and i hope it does the same for some devs out there. The story seems like an after thought. I don't see how any one would think stringing together those plot points in such a lay way wouldn't go unnoticed. If your looking for a "very tactical" fleet sim. Try Nebulous Fleet Command. It is a small team so development on features are coming in slow, but what they have done so far is very interesting. If this is your first video. Its pretty impressive that you got an editing style down right off the bat. 😀
The only reason I started played this was because my Laptop was on life-support and this was one of the few games it could play. I'll admit it never drew me in like Homeworld did but I found some fun in it. (even with the constant bellyup the ships seem to take). speaking of Homeworld the sort of "oldness" of it kind of reminds me when i'd play Homeworld cataclysm. Good times.
Yeah you can have a bit of fun with this games, though Homeworld is still one of the better space RTS games. I haven't had a chance to play Cataclysm which I hear is good, I should get on that lol.
@@InfoGuyGaming its quite a ride. Is all I'll say. (Regarding cataclysm I mean) I still come back to THAT frist cutscene every so often. Plus the VA's was great.)
@@solblackguy There is Battlefleet Gothic it's not technically open world but you can choose missions to go on in it. There is also X4 but thats more of simulator type of experience. Would actually be nice if there was more games like Nexus but in an open world where you could just jump from system to system to get to missions.
@@InfoGuyGaming space trader/combat games are a dying breed. Everything is devolving back to dog fighting flight sims. It broke my heart when I found out Starpoint Gemini 3 went the fighter route. That was the last great series to have capital ships and system management in combat.
I discovered and played this game in around 2009 to 2012 I think. I found it had better graphics, was more interesting and more enjoyable overall than homeworld (which, I couldn't even bring myself to finish). It isn't perfect by any means, but which game is...

These types of games are unique, also wish there were more of them out there. Might do a review one day on the Homeworld games, those are classics.
I loved this game, but your critique is spot on. I don't see enough reviews on this game.
Yeah it is fun, just a few things holding it back is all. Would like to see what could be done with a sequel.
Don't give up! Keep grinding content like this and you will have a lot of followers! You got to grind my friend! Nice review!
I'll try my best. :)
I am working on the next one but it'll be awhile.
Good review mate
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. :)

Is there a game similar to this but open world?
The closes to this type of game, that is open world is probably Eve online. Just beware of pay to win stuff with that game.
@@InfoGuyGaming I was thinking more single player. There's too many trolls and griefers on EVE to make it fun
