@german8006 the unit has two cameras, one is HD and faces down and is used for calculating stability and other parameters. The other is in VGA and that is what is transmitted to your idevice.
To all who are asking where to buy a Drone. I bought mine at Brookstone. IN US $299.00. The first drone I bought had a bad mainboard but I sent it back to AR Drone at Brookstone's expense to and from. In about two weeks I had it back. I was getting lost connection, etc. as some are stating their experiences. It is unstable in a bit of a crosswind but the gyros on board do compensate very well in the wind it uses a lot of battery to do that though. I prefer to use my iPad2.
@pennerblogger They are brushless, motors that small with brushes would require too much current, more than that a light battery could provide for sufficient time.. And the project you suggested would cost over $1000 USD worth of radio gear and materials..
I'm always a sucker for the next flying toy, and I always regret it afterwards, but damn this looks good. The camera looks fine to me. I don't need a constant 30fps as long as I can see and know where I am. Ultimately, a bit out of my price range for all the use it wouldn't get.
Assuming that this thing connects via wifi, I suppose it can't go pretty far from the iPad/iPhone controlling it. Now if only they decided to use one of those standard RF modules as an attachment to the iPad/iPod instead.
To all who have flown the AR Drone. You can fly it with a iPhohe, iPad, and iTouch, Altough the smaller the screen gets the worst it looks to keep it in flight and controllable. .
i realy dont know why the parrot ar drone should be so good. You can build yourselve a real good qaudrocopter with witch you can fly over 1km. Just get a wireless cam and some stuff from hong kong and you will have much more fun and much more cheaper. I mean these motors arent even brushless

amazing tech. I am quite pumped for it to arrive. It does seem the cameras are not the best but I can easily live with that
@elalmendroal This movie was shot in AUGUST 2010 with AR.FREEFLIGHT 1.0. Video feed was improved in AR.FREEFLIGHT 1.5.

I love the AR DORNE!
@Xilstealth they should have put a safety cover on those blades. there will be a lot of suing for chop fingers ahahaha
@L0veGuit4r Hello, Yes you can use your iPod Touch with the AR.Drone!
Oh man... Throw an HD cam on that thing, and let it record to your iPod/iPad and BOOM, you got instant movie magic from above :)
@Frefind Yes you can control it with ipod touch too. But the AR droid costs like 300 to 400 dollars.
@1loudninja yet everyone justifies owning one when they get it

Pierwsze pożyteczne i zarazem fajne zastosowanie IPada jakie widzę :)
@TheSatansAce The app "dronecontrol" has a trim button that I've found very useful.

the video feed seems quite laggy. Enough that it would be difficult to pilot unless you could see it while flying it
@YeahBoy940 lol i do already, you just have to make sure it doesn't get shot. Some of the people in my neighborhood try to snipe the rotors off.
that looks awesome :)
So badass! Can't wait to get mine!
that. is. AWESOME!
Guys I hope you can make a quite one, I will buy it with that.
I wonder if attaching a small hd camera to the bottom of it would be to heavy. Would be awesome to get some highpoint angles.
@Maj2004 dude i dont even have a big gut and im not fat......this thing has so much tech put into it, and i was surprised that it had a laggy cam.
Assuming that this thing connects via wifi, I suppose it can't go pretty far from the iPad/iPhone controlling it.

that's seriously awesome

.
Getting one on monday this looks really fun. ^^
This thing would really be fun with a nice pair of vr goggles.
awesome video. I'm hoping you guys make a PSP app one day
just amazing technology, i take it that thing is connected through wi fi?
@desenagrator No you don't need WiFi -- the Drone provides the WiFi -- you just need an Iphone/Ipad
Now if only I could get my AR.Drone to pilot my iPad.
Ironicly I was thinking about buying ones and then I saw this and I was on my I pad now to the chase WHERE CAN I BUY ONE
Awesome.
AGM Missile is online.
@YeahBoy940 thats what i plan on getting it for
I could see this being used in the military soon. Or something very similar.
@1loudninja forgot one thing
it costs 3x the amount
it was a little laggy but still GREAT idea
where's the ARDrone channel song in this video? :)
Skynet has arrived. but arnold is now too old to fight the machines.
Gotta have it
Awesome!
What's lacking in the iPhone 3G that makes it insufficient to control:? Does it use Blueooth ?
if you want a really good one find this: Quadrino Witespy Quadcopter
@eddgiles Ha, yeah, I've got an Ally but their site says other platforms should be available in a few months.
I WANT ONE.
Here comes the boss!
@Well ive got one for about 120€ and with camera and transmitter
170€ and with remote about 230€.
Its made from hobbyking parts.
i try it on my ipad same but it lag a bit.
but is good for real gaming :) for fun!
@ellopoppet078 it should be arround 15 min of batteri time
Dear Lord, how the hell are they pulling off using an ipad/iphone as the controller? That's some pretty hard-core app programming there!
@YeahBoy940 lol i guess someone already got the idea first lol
Hi Santa, all i deserve for christmas is a quadricopter. Love you Thank you Shaizy =)
hey ARdrone, what is the range of control? 100 meters from where you're standing?
Is this an iPad speific app or is it the same app on the iPhone/ iPod touch?
@Maj2004 like the UAV Drone?
im sooooooooooooooooo saveing up for that
Damn... louder than a Dyson vacuum! :o
Great!
Dear Santa..
can the drone be piloted by the droid 2 global? i really REALLY want one but i dont have an IPhone, or Ipad D:
So really Cool !!!
@L0veGuit4r : yes,
I wonder if I can make the comments active again
@Niklasdiver123 i been doing this with my RC Helicopters for years even thought about going to area51
Think the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be the best controller with a in screen. Big to see but managable.
This is so freagin' cool!!!!!
@PJK33NAN Too much lag for FPV use, you could never fly it via video alone with thta much lag.
@LinearkWG ok so the cam can be better than this ?
THAT'S how they nailed Osama...
what range has it? What can the distance be between ur ipad/ipod/iphone and the Parrot AR.Drone ?
And how high can it go?
now i just need to buy an ipad...
I kan haz fur crismus???
I WANT ONE OR TWO OR TEN MILLION!!!!!!
@YeahBoy940 that's my plan =)
i realy dont know why the parrot ar drone should be so good.

Salut,
Dans la vidéo vous parlez français, alors pourquoi faire un chaine et tout les textes qui s'y attachent, en anglais?
@eikethw its a 4 rotor helicopter. what do you expect.
@firemanliu My thoughts exactly.
wow good
@Ehuml I'm sorry i did'nt quite understand that :-)
But it's only through wifi, therefore it's use/range is severely limited outside. Shame.
@MrAwesome10000 Damn great idea... goes and orders one.
@xWren is ur styrofoam also controllable by your iDevice? this piece of styrofoam is way cooler :D, still don't know if its worth my $300
dear santa.......
Do those work good in wind?
@spadastunter 802.11b on all PSP's. slow but capable of streaming full PSP video resolution
im gonna use that as snowball bomber. or paintball...
does that camera come with the drone?
@leslieip1993112 50 metres or 160 feet on average. but it depends on the environment.
@1loudninja and the itouch is just a tiny ipad that is hard to see and cant do shit one. Plus ipad has 3g. :D
Dear bank...
Można używac przy pomocy iPoda Touch 1g?
@SuperTechSpert Nope -- the Drone takes care of that.
Looks like Frontlines Fuel of War xD
can you controll it by i pod touch too??
so u have to have an ipod/ipad to control it?
anyone knows were i can get one?
why is the video on ipad lag? is it normal that it lag a bit like that?
btw can you record it?
Esta chingon yo quiero uno de esos cuanto vale
