Thanks for the video, it's really very explanatory and straightforward, it seems that nowadays people have some kind of difficulty recording clear tutorials so they get straight to the point. Greetings from Brazil!!
Man, I swear to god I can never find good enough settings!!! I had everything copied pretty much but my recordings look extremely choppy and twitchy if that makes sense. Not many frame skips but it just doesn’t look smooth. I need to upgrade. Im currently on a 2080Ti still with an i7-12700K, 32GB of DDR4 RAM and two SSDs, only SSD i use is my Samsung 980 pro and then I have an intel 660p which is gen 3 so even though my games are all on the samsung SSD, I don’t know if it will benefit me putting OBS and all of my recordings to my other SSD. Its slower, but it would separate loading times in games from OBS recording. But for now im just trying to get something to look smooth. I have a 1440p 180Hz LG Ultragear monitor. Maybe turning HAGS back off will help. I also have an MSI tool and put my GPU into MSI mode so that could be an issue too.
Alright, so I had to turn my CQB down to like 14 and then turn HAGS off and after doing a test recording, it looks so much better now! Shadow play has been the bane of my existence for the longest time because even at 1440p native, it looks awful unless im using a dozen filters that cause massive input lag and frame drops. But this is starting to work finally! Thank you bro!
@@JasonDunna Haha nice! Yea I LOVE this monitor, the Blacks are a bit grey but 1440p at 180Hz lol thing was $599 brand new when I got it when it first came out. But yea, I just had to play around with some settings and it’s looking good so far. My main issue is that on most new games, at 1440p with a 2080ti I have to use scaling, Usually DLSS so that’s already 33% less resolution if im using quality. So unless I crank everything else up along with DLSS it doesn’t look great. But now that I have that fixed, fast movements in games like COD still look choppy but ive been slowly changing the settings and it’s starting to look better. I appreciate people like you 💪 you are a GOAT.
Do you use these recording settings for single pc or dual pc? I’m trying to implement these settings put i keep getting these annoying stutters in my recordings
I don't seem to have a CQP option in the encoder settings, will it still be fine if I use another one? Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm new to OBS. My main specs are rtx 4080 & r7 7800x3d
Hi Jason, I'm using OBS to record my gameplay for YT and I have the settings you propose in this video. BUT if I try to record in 1440p I get like 5 fps in the recorded file... :/ Here is my hardware setup: AMD Ryzen 3700x, AMD Radeon 6700XT, recording monitor: Elite XG270QC (27", 165Hz, Display HDR), and the harddisc for the result file is a fast M2 SSD. This should be more than capable - but it doesnt work obviously. :/ Maybe you have some tips for me. Greetings Tafka PS: I'm using the AMD HW H.264 (AVC)

I hate wasting people’s time so I make my videos concise. Happy it was helpful! Greetings from Canada!
Straight to the point and very simple thanks!
Always try to be to the point as much as I can!
Great video, Jason 📺
Your explanation of the complicated settings of OBS are clear and non-complicated ✅
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
I’m gonna have to follow this guide when I get home
Heck yeah 😎 I started recording in 1440p and it looks a lot better
This is how you should make videos, thank you!
Glad it was useful!
Love the beanie
Thanks bro hair was a mess this morning hahaha
I've heard settings B-frames to 0 can help improve quality and reduce strain on GPU at the same time.
Interesting I’ll test it out
@JasonDunna supposedly this is at the cost of increased file size
Greetings from Brazil. Is this setting also for live streaming? What setup do you use to live stream?
Yeah you can use this to live stream as well! Depends on your internet speed, you might want to use 1080p Instead if the internet can’t keep up

Hey I’m glad you got it all sorted out! We’re using the same monitor and SSDs actually
You do have to play around with settings a bit

@@-BUGZ-hey what are your obs settings for recording 1440p gameplay
I have a 1080 monitor but want to set a higher quality to 1440 for TH-cam, would that be the upscaling tab I’d set that to?

You would need to look up an AMD obs settings because AMD is not as strong compared to Nvidia I don't mean quality I mean recording & streaming wise
use h265 man!
Yeah I would try h265 and see if that helps or try out another video specifically for AMD as sometimes they have issues
What if I plan to record over a long period of time? What CQ Level would you recommend?
23-26 is good you can go higher but not any higher than 35 :D
Can you show us how to do 120 fps in 1440 for people viewing the stream
For a stream? TH-cam only supports up to 60fps as far as I know
I dont seem to have the same options you do for some reason
What version of OBS are you using?
is it possible to record 240fps 1440p?
Yeah you have to modify the FPS value to that
Why is my bitrate half a million LOL wtf that is insanely unnecessary for 1440p
Hahaha yeah you definitely don’t want it that high
@@JasonDunna well if i used a CQ Level of 18 with the settings you show my bitrate while recording DayZ is 497000+
