- Did you ever get the girl? It's probably my most asked question in the last decade, that and, What's Simon Cowell like? I thought it was about time I told my story, from being a child actor on an Irish Television Soap to overnight success on Britains Got Talent. It's been wild ride and it's not over yet.

Ryan, I remember watching your first audition on BGT on TH-cam. I really thought you'd win that year. I'm glad you were signed so that your music got out to the world and you made some money on it--though of course, that's not the point of writing songs. I agreed with Simon. You have a fantastic, God-given talent for composing music and writing lyrics. Not many people can do that. I have sung all my life (I'm nearly 70) but I can't read music, let alone compose. I have written some poetry along the way that I always wished somebody would set to music. But you have something special. So take it slow, my friend, and enjoy the talent you have. This was so cathartic to listen to. I was mesmerized by "no name", not only because I was impressed, but also by how down to earth and real your experience was. I never really cared who the girls was, but rather how visibly in love you were, which I thought was beautiful. The song "together" was also pretty meaningful to me as a queer person. I remember how ecstatic I was watching the music video. I never listen to the eurovision songs beforehand because it feels like I'm spoiling the suprise, but that was and has been the only exeption to that rule. I'm so happy to hear that you have continued to pave your own path and be your own person. I wish you nothing but the best, cheers!

I play guitar since I was a child. When I saw your performance in both shows I knew you were a true artist. I am very happy to hear about your story and even more happy to know that you decided to follow the path that gave you inner peace and personal success and not what the industry and the marketing is selling. Looks like the world wanted you to go in a particular direction. And the story would have revolved around the mystery girl of your song "no name". But funny enough, you weren't led that way and I totally agree with u. Am sure if u had given in, you would have been more famous than ever. But what matters most as u said is what u really want and was after. Good thing bro. Life ain't just about fame and lots of money... But happiness is found in what we most love.
The music industry is a tough business - so glad you came out on the other side with your wits intact 🙂

I often wondered what happened to you afterwards and I''m so glad to hear that you found your way and that you're still doing music. Wow, what a crazy world is the music industry. Totally get your choices, when you're young people ask so much of you and you have to put up your own boundaries. Ryan, I've listened to your song from that performance many times. But, I actually heard another song that sounded SO familiar (from like back to the 70's) that had a very similar chord structure on the radio. I didn't catch the name of it, but just that you know (maybe it was just inspired, there was a difference as well, but a good 1/2 of the structure of the song identical to this other song.... chord progression, etc.
I'll try and find the name and post it. I really liked your performance very very much (it is a GREAT song), so just in case you didn't realize it, etc. You are a great musician.
Wow, this is news to me, what inspired the guitar aspect of No Name was most likely John Mayer - Stop this train. I had been playing that endlessly before writing No Name. I’d be really keen to hear what this song from the 70s is! Thanks so much

Yeah there is that flip side of becoming famous. I am not a musician, but sometimes you get to hear an artist talk about how much of themselves they put into music and they find out the label companies are not interested in your personal life just making albums . With that you also get the papers and their reporters, who want every detail of your life to print, and who really wants to have to hide just to feel safe . Those reporters are not concerned about the truth just selling magazines and newspapers.
You had to follow your heart. If you didn't you would forever kick your arse. You did very well. Now keep going.....

Hey Ryan loved that song way back then. I could see you were under pressure alrite and a bit out of your comfort zone. It's all about making money with these guys they dont care what they do to people's mental health. It was all about the story to them and not the person. I'd love to hear about your participation in Eurovision in, was it 2018?, and how that song and that video came to be. I;ve heard that you insisted on having it feature a gay theme. Was any of that connected to your early years at dance school?

I am glad that you are doing your own thing and are much happier. However I would imagine that your record sales have dropped significantly. Does a part of you wish you could be signed with Sony again with your current knowledge base and experience?
Thanks for the comment, the industry has really changed since 2012 but if I had the knowledge I have now back when I was 19 I probably would have handled things different for sure, maybe I would have had better mental health and wouldn’t have left Sony, but I wouldn’t change the past

I remember watching you perform no name on TV when watching BGT and I preferred your live version to the studio version, it felt more raw and emotional to me. I also like your new material.
