Criminal was my favorite release of 2020 but Idea was up there so those two are absolute musts. Move and Want, as others have said. I also recommend 2 Kids (a b-side to Criminal and it’s stripped down beautiful song). Some of his older solo stuff is Danger, Press Your Number, and Famous. If you want to check out Shinee I recommend Don’t Call Me, View, Married to the Music, and Good Evening.
I love how everyone's first reaction to Taemin is "WHO IS HE AND WHY DIDN'T I GET INTO HIM SOONER?!" 😂 It's never too late to get into Taemin and SHINee. Others here have briefly explained Taemin's background, so I won't bother. Just know that he is one of the most incredible artists out there, not just within Kpop but in any musical genre. He really has his own unique artistic vision that is so fascinating and deep. His performances are phenomenal, his voice is so unique and beautiful, and his dancing is perfection. I've never seen anyone move like he can. If you love watching the dancing for Kpop, you should definitely check out his dance practices! I'm also going to recommend you see Criminal, Idea, 2Kids, Move, and Want. Also, for something completely different, I'd recommend his MV for Think Of You, because it is a much more casual MV he made for the fans, so it shows his more relaxed and adorable personality. Taemin's duality is no joke: he's got INSANE charisma when he is performing but off-stage he is a lovable and mischievous goofball with an infectious smile and laugh. If you can in the future I'd recommend you get into SHINee too. They are absolute legends in the Kpop industry and every single member is an amazing artist in their own right. Their music is brilliant, they can all pull off any position within the group, and they are the most hilarious and chaotic group out there. I have never ever been less than massively impressed with any Taemin song I've heard. And his performances are all immaculate. This guy is The Born Performer!
He is an absolute legend but also one of the most hard working idols in the industry. He debuted with 14 and has always been an introvert which just makes it even more impressive that he is such a completely different and confident person when performing! Also he is part of SHINee, a group which debuted in 2008 and have the title “Princes of K-Pop”. One of the most legendary 2nd gen groups ever but also 5 of the loveliest most warm hearted men you will see. They went through a lot throughout the years and really see each other as family to the point where even their own individual families hang out with each other, it’s absolutely endearing, truly one of the strongest bonds I’ve ever seen in K-Pop and Taemin is the maknae ❤️ PS: I really want to suggest his song “Under my Skin” live with english subs, it is beautiful and a different side to him ❤️

the thing about this is I realized how mature if not all but most Shawols are, like there’s no jealousy between fans about one bias being more active or famous than the others, cause I think once you became a Shawol you will all love them equally one just lightly more than the others. And we all know how SHINee love each other like hell. They’re brothers, family. It doesn’t matter if they’re losing shine on the crowd, or one is more known the the others. Key already mentioned it, it doesn’t matter if they’re not as famous like before, the fact that they can still create music is what keeps them going.
being a Taemin fan is a painful journey not in a bad way lol he never fails to show a different side of himself in a unique artistic way that holds you from the beginning, i'm suspicious to say but he's one of the best artists i've had the pleasure of knowing
ok, so Taemin is maknae of Shinee, they are veterans in Kpop and it was actually them who bring me to Kpop world and thanks to them I discovered SKZ too. I do not stan many groups, so for my its only Shinee and SKZ. SHINee has very good songs, but I warn you, some things about them are ....really sad. But I love them how strong ALL of them are and they were. .-) As Taemin solo things, he is really good and he is breaking Kpop standards like with his "Move" and "you dont have to be all muscles to look sexy as hell". His dancing is really something so I recommend you - Danger, Criminal and Idea. Also he is really funny guy and you will just love him, his vlives are legendary and his nickname is "spoiling fairy", because what he doesnt know, he doesnt tell. :D You have plenty of time to discover anything about him, because he will back from military service on November 2022 and we dearly miss him. .-)
I always knew Shinee but my group was BTS and now Stray Kids but I fell for them in 2017 at the same time as Skz. And now my ults are BTS, SKZ and Shinee (and also Mamamoo but that it's another story 😉)
Yeah I got into SHINee in 2016 because of Jonghyun’s solo album actually, just like how many people now are getting into them because of Taemin. Jonghyun’s solo albums are still my favourites and I’m so glad I discovered him and got into SHINee they are really special
Once You are Taem-in you can’t Taem-out! Taemin and his female backup dancers are the best! Backup female dancers are always there with Taemin and I love how they are integral to his performance. The more you see of his live performances the more you appreciate how his backup female dancers are not just props, but a force to reckon with! They are incredible and Shawols know them too! He’s of course from SHINee. Check his Japanese work too!
I could write a novel about Taemin but to keep it as short as I can.. yes, Taemin plays the piano, not only uses both male and female backup dances but when films in other countries using backup dancers of different ethnicities as well (MVs such Press Your Number and Drip Drop). He was also known for breaking gender norms and androgyny in K-Pop. He was voted best dancer in K-Pop of all time. He does wish people would sometimes focus more on his vocal ability but knows that ppl want to see him dance and feels he must live up to their expectations in doing so. Taemin likes to show development so, this song is actually not a normal sound for Taemin. But, he can pull of any genre in my opinion. When Taemin debuted with SHINee in their song "Replay" it was based solely of dance and he was givin no individual lines in the song as he was said to be "tone deaf" and lack singing ability. So he worked with his vocal couch very hard and ended up being the first SHINee member to debut solo after the suggestion of what if I recall correctly was his vocal coach, which he still works with one. All his songs are good but, I prefer his ballads as his voice is very beautiful. Monologue, Love and Rise are a couple good ones. A few other videos by him that I didn't see mentioned that you might want to check out are "Famous" and "Taemin The Stage Black Rose".. I could name a lot more but this did actually turn into a small book lol.

I like this one, she fully appreciates our husband and his impact! Yes he was really playing the piano, yes the hip tattoo is real, we live for Taemin and his girl squad dancers, Taemin in the crop top fit is life but also death 🤣 He is the God Tier! A true performer in every sense of the word. Taemin is just art in human form. As beautiful as that mans face is, his heart is even more beautiful. It's always been said that you can tell when someone is truly a master of dance when their dancing looks effortless and that is our Taemin. He looks like he's just floating on a gentle breeze across the stage. So much grace and fluidity but he also excels at sharp popping movements as well. His body control and isolations are literally the BEST! He specializes in choreographies that are minimalistic in appearance but are actually EXTREMELY difficult as there's a lot of slow intricate movements that require insane amounts of control. I would definitely recommend the 'Criminal' MV but really I recommend ALL of his MV's because ALL are just iconic and amazing. I'd also like to recommend his group, SHINee. I think you'll be blown away by their combined skills! It's always so tough when it comes to recommending because I can't decide on if it should be my fav song or if it should be where the legend began and then you could watch his growth. Either way, I'll be here for all of that because Taemin is my ult for life and SHINee is my ult group.
Taemin is art himself. Obviously he is the best dancer & best solo artist of kpop. He have won best dancer category 3 times in MAMA. I've been following Taemin for 4 years now & he introduced me with Shinee, I became completely hooked with them. As Taemin is mostly recognised for his solo work, Shinee is also recognised as the princes of Kpop & one of the most honored group in all over Korea. The members are all so amazing & funny. Also Taemin introduced me with Stray kids as I once watched his music core interview with Hyunjin & Stray Kids also made a comeback with Back Door that time. So I watched them for the first time. Later, I saw Hyunjin's cover of Criminal & his appearance in a show with Shinee's Minho. Now I'm proudly a Stay too. Is this a fate that I will stan Skz who also loves Taemin? I saw Bangchan appreciating Taemin too. Lee know had an episode with Key too. Wow I would love to have more Shinee & Skz interaction in the future.

Taemin is a 93 Liner & debuted as a literal baby in 2008 with Shinee. They still release music as a group but since I think 2014 Taemin also does a lot of solo stuff in both Korean & Japanese (he’s incredibly popular in Japan). I’d definitely recommend checking out his japanese stuff as well like Sayonara Hitori or Flame of Love. People call him the Michael Jackson of Korea but I always thought of him more as the David Bowie of Korea. Additionally his personality is really different on stage & off stage. He enlisted in the military on 31st of May
The first time I saw Taemin's name was in the comments of a slippery stage video (Dream Concert) because while everyone else is falling over, Taemin's using his giant shoes to slide across the stage. I didn't know much about him at the time other than the iconic Move MV. Had to check him out after that! He's such a veteran. Watching him with SuperM and Shinee is great, too.

Taemin debuted at a young age at age 14 with SHINee. In 2014 he was the first soloist from his company SM to make his debut at just 21 years old. "Danger" was his debut song and the dance was inspired as a tribute to MJ who inspired him to dance and become a great artist. There he began his endless journey with music, dance and art that has only consolidated him as the most exceptional and iconic artist, singer, dancer and performer of all time with his own musical vision very different from what is often seen in singers, groups etc. He has managed to distinguish himself from the rest by being creative and innovative in the most artistic way possible and with top-notch performances that only he can do. In 2019 he made his debut again and was the first chosen by Lee Soo man to belong to SuperM. ADVICE was his last release before joining the military. He only said that ADVICE is like the trailer or turning point of his musical career and of everything he will do in the future when he returns from the army next year. Which means that something big and revolutionary is coming. Taemin is the entire music industry that's why he's called the king of kpop for many people.

I see "Advice" as a continuation of the themes within Taemin's Never Gonna Dance Again album trilogy -- "2 Kids," "Criminal" and "Idea." With "Criminal" and "Idea," Taemin talks about being involved in a toxic relationship -- not necessarily a romantic relationship, but a metaphor for his relationship with fame -- in which he agrees to be manipulated almost to the point of being destroyed in order to become the artist we see today. But in the end of "Idea" we see him become free from the box everyone wants to put him in and he comes to terms with his role as an idol. He has now formed his own "Idea" about himself and what it means to be an idol, etc. As Taemin explained during his VLive event for "Advice", "Advice" is like the end to the first chapter in his life, and the beginning of his second chapter, which will be after he completes his military service. (He enlisted May 30 and he will be on hiatus for the next 18 months as he fulfills his duty to his country.) The song seems to be his way of saying I am done caring to everyone who judged him and all those haters who spread rumors and misinformation about him. "Advice" is showing that he is now free and confident to be himself, breaking stereotypes and now only listening to himself. Taemin is just one of those performers that leaves you speechless every time he steps on stage. He was born to be a performer and that is one of the reasons why he has become known as the Korean Michael Jackson. That is also why, as one of the top two performers in the industry, he was made a member of SuperM. Taemin is an Idol of Idols and a legend of legends. (Kai from EXO -- Taemin's best friend, who is also an SM Entertainment artist and fellow member of SuperM -- takes the other top spot. Side note: Baekhyun is also a member of SuperM.) And the title of the industry's BEST dancer isn't just a fan's opinion but it's a widely agreed upon title bestowed on both Taemin and Kai by their peers and the industry as a whole. Taemin is one of the most popular solo artists, as well as the youngest member of the legendary Kpop group SHINee. He debuted as a solo artist in 2014. In "Advice" he's basically saying, "Stop trying to put me in a box, in which I'll never fit in." He is also speaking to everyone that says he's getting old, that he's just a Michael Jackson wannabe that doesn't sell a lot of albums because he tries too hard to be edgy, etc. He's rebelling against all those people who are constantly advising him to make more mainstream music or to follow the traditional Kpop idol style in order to boost his sales and his popularity. However, as Taemin is making clear in "Advice," that is not who he is and he will never be "normal" or "mainstream" and he is OK with that. In the scenes where you see him covered in ink, I think that is supposed to be him showing everyone how he is no longer the "unstained," cute maknae everyone wants to think of him as. This song was specifically designed to not be like anything he has ever done before. He plays the piano, he raps, he shows off his falsetto notes, etc. which is different than what we often hear and see from him. He intentionally used this song to prove that he isn't one type of singer. People often think of Taemin as a sultry vocalist that sings in a breathy comfortable less dynamic style. So, with this song he wants to prove to everyone that he can be unpredictable and try new things. Yet again, you can't put him in a box or tell him who to be. Everything you see in this MV is 100% Taemin. Everything that Taemin's haters like to point out about him and say are reasons why he shouldn't be held to such high esteem, I find completely ridiculous. I don't think that anyone who actually knows him would ever say he has played it safe at anytime in his career. If you think he is only one dimensional, and that he is trying to be anything other than himself, then you really don't know Taemin. Everything he does is different, out there and definitely not safe. It's always uniquely Taemin, and he couldn't do it any other way. Also, because Taemin is a member of SHINee, none of his songs are ever like anything you have every heard or seen before from him. It will always have a new beat, style and sound. As SM's experimental boy group, SHINee is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend, and that includes the members' solo work. With every new song Taemin produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from him in any of his songs, even on the same album, and yet, it still will be uniquely Taemin-like. Which is another example of how you can never put him in a box or expect anything from him. :D Another theme in "Advice" is about how Taemin is embracing his androgynous side -- but on his own terms -- which I think is a continuation of the message in his "Move" MV. Early in his career when Taemin was growing up in SHINee he was known for his feminine look. The industry thought it was novel and cute to dress Taemin up as a girl and play up his feminine features. It took him a long time to accept that he was known for his looks and to come to terms with the fact that everyone thought of him as a "pretty boy," etc. So, at this point in his career he is making a statement about how he has decided to be himself and no longer care what people think. Music is art and art has no gender. So, that is why in "Advice" you see him wearing hair extensions, fishnets and women's Supreme sports wear, etc. But if you notice, his choreography is very fast paced and sharp which is hyper masculine -- a complete contrast to the "feminine" image people want to give him. You also see him wearing makeup, but it's smeared on his face, as if to say, "people may think of me as a 'Pretty Boy,' but I don't care about looking pretty." In the lyrics where he says "floppy" I think he's talking about knowing about or hearing firsthand the things people are saying about him, but he is choosing not to pay attention to them because what they're saying is flopping or doesn't hold any weight or have any substance, etc. "Advice" just proves that everytime people try to put Taemin in a box he destroys it and keeps coming back with something more unique and never seen before. I interpret the "One (piece of ) Advice" he is talking about in the lyrics as a reference to the advice he keeps being given about being more mainstream, but he's saying, "stop trying to make me conform to the image you have in your head of who I should be and what I should do" -- in other words, take all that time and effort you have been using to come up with ways to talk about how I don't fit in, etc. and put it to better use. "Follow my own advice" and do something original for once. As a devout Catholic, Taemin often uses Biblical references and metaphors in his songs and MVs. And the crucifixion pose at the end of "Advice" is sort of a signature pose for him. I interpret it to be like he is saying, "And that is the end, this is my final word, take it or leave it, but don't doubt me. I have gave it my all and laid everything I had out there for you," etc. If you are impressed with Taemin's dancing in this MV, just wait until you see him dance live. You will be even more blown away. Taemin is on a whole other level. Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Although he has input in almost everything he does, he has choreographers that come up with the choreography for most of his dances and he then infuses it with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. If you watch Taemin dance more, you will see that no matter who choreographs the dance, it will always have that Taemin feel. Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years, as you see with "Advice," he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him. And, as the youngest member of SHINee, Taemin's talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. With 13 years since their debut, they still command one of the top spots. When Taemin debuted in 2008 as part of SHINee he was only 14 years old and, yet, he was already known as one of the best dancers in the industry, and he has only gotten more magnificent over the years. Now after more than a decade, Taemin is still one of the youngest in many Kpop circles -- he is only 27 -- and, yet, he often has the most seniority and experience. He is so well respected that everyone looks up to him. SHINee are a 5 member group that is known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. SHINee is the group that really set the standard when it comes to live performances. It's literally known as the SHINee standard and it's what all other groups work to reach.

Ayyy Thank you so much for reacting to Taemin! Yes he is highly respected and loved, he inspired a lot of people to be idols. Many have named Taemin as their inspiration. He is not afraid to try different things and always tries new genres in his work. What you said about you liking to see more female dancers in kpop, I recommend you watch 'Move' by him. Its an iconic song and video, it went viral in korea and broke many stereotypes about dancing in kpop, about having a choreography with female dancers but in a dance that has no gender boundaries. WANT too has this vibe. Or you can also see his other works, Criminal or IDEA, which are the most recent before Advice. You will notice that his mvs are quite artistic, and very strong in dance. It was so fun to watch you see this! I resisted watching Advice for ages cuz I... don't have time.... to be obsessed with someone else... But Chan played it on vlive at some point and I couldn't resist. I really liked Shinee's comeback with Don't Call Me! (and if you want some ooooooold school stuff, Shinee's Ring Ding Dong and Lucifer were the first kpop songs I ever heard and honestly still slap eleven years later lol) And yeah, I think that crop top got us all. SHINee was the first group I’ve been with since debut. Seeing people experience SHINee or Taemin for the first time is such a magical experience lol. Also watching Taemin evolve from the baby he was at 14 to him now is absolutely amazing, I’m sure any Shawol or Taemint would agree. The first kpop group I ever listened to was SHINee, their debut song Replay way back in 2008. Taemin was just a kid my age, Ive literally grown up with him. Now Im a Staywol and im so glad you're listening to my only non-skz ult dkjhdfk For Taemin solo songs I recommend his solo debut Danger, as well as MOVE, Want, Idea, and of course Criminal. I also HIGHLY recommend the MV for 2Kids, I think it's a perfect display of his pure dancing artistry. And this isn't something new from him coz he's been doing it since 2017, even one of his most iconic title track - Move - only featured female dancers as his back up dancers. From there Taemin is known consistently dancing with female dancers as part of his dance crews. What I respect from taemin regarding dancing with female dancers is that he doesn't make them as his accessories, not as sexual objects, or to beautify his empty dance floor. Most of the time they dance with similar choreographies, with the girl squad just as fierce and as strong as he is and him also (mostly always tho) as fluid, elegant and delicate as they can be. Criminal was my favorite release of 2020 but Idea was up there so those two are absolute musts. Move and Want, as others have said. I also recommend 2 Kids (a b-side to Criminal and it’s stripped down beautiful song). Some of his older solo stuff is Danger, Press Your Number, and Famous.

It's never too late to get into Taemin and SHINee. Others here have briefly explained Taemin's background, so I won't bother. Just know that he is one of the most incredible artists out there, not just within Kpop but in any musical genre. He really has his own unique artistic vision that is so fascinating and deep. His performances are phenomenal, his voice is so unique and beautiful, and his dancing is perfection. I've never seen anyone move like he can. If you love watching the dancing for Kpop, you should definitely check out his dance practices!
I'm also going to recommend you see Criminal, Idea, 2Kids, Move, and Want. Also, for something completely different, I'd recommend his MV for Think Of You, because it is a much more casual MV he made for the fans, so it shows his more relaxed and adorable personality. Taemin's duality is no joke: he's got INSANE charisma when he is performing but off-stage he is a lovable and mischievous goofball with an infectious smile and laugh.
If you can in the future I'd recommend you get into SHINee too. They are absolute legends in the Kpop industry and every single member is an amazing artist in their own right. Their music is brilliant, they can all pull off any position within the group, and they are the most hilarious and chaotic group out there. But they are all extremely humble and hardworking, even after 13+ years in the industry. You won't find a better group of people or performers out there, IMO. ❤️

I have never ever been less than massively impressed with any Taemin song I've heard. And his performances are all immaculate. This guy is The Born Performer!
He is an absolute legend but also one of the most hard working idols in the industry. He debuted with 14 and has always been an introvert which just makes it even more impressive that he is such a completely different and confident person when performing!
Also he is part of SHINee, a group which debuted in 2008 and have the title “Princes of K-Pop”. One of the most legendary 2nd gen groups ever but also 5 of the loveliest most warm hearted men you will see. They went through a lot throughout the years and really see each other as family to the point where even their own individual families hang out with each other, it’s absolutely endearing, truly one of the strongest bonds I’ve ever seen in K-Pop and Taemin is the maknae ❤️

me too，I feel I am old😭Their group SHINee has more than 100 concerts just in Japan for 6 years. Plus Korea and all over the world and members solo concert，so many and it been a so long time.
the thing about this is I realized how mature if not all but most Shawols are, like there’s no jealousy between fans about one bias being more active or famous than the others, cause I think once you became a Shawol you will all love them equally one just lightly more than the others. And we all know how SHINee love each other like hell. They’re brothers, family. It doesn’t matter if they’re losing shine on the crowd, or one is more known the the others. Key already mentioned it, it doesn’t matter if they’re not as famous like before, the fact that they can still create music is what keeps them going.

ok, so Taemin is maknae of Shinee, they are veterans in Kpop and it was actually them who bring me to Kpop world and thanks to them I discovered SKZ too. I do not stan many groups, so for my its only Shinee and SKZ. SHINee has very good songs, but I warn you, some things about them are ....really sad. But I love them how strong ALL of them are and they were. .-) As Taemin solo things, he is really good and he is breaking Kpop standards like with his "Move" and "you dont have to be all muscles to look sexy as hell". His dancing is really something so I recommend you - Danger, Criminal and Idea. Also he is really funny guy and you will just love him, his vlives are legendary and his nickname is "spoiling fairy", because what he doesnt know, he doesnt tell. :D You have plenty of time to discover anything about him, because he will back from military service on November 2022 and we dearly miss him. .-)
I always knew Shinee but my group was BTS and now Stray Kids but I fell for them in 2017 at the same time as Skz. And now my ults are BTS, SKZ and Shinee (and also Mamamoo but that it's another story 😉)
Yeah I got into SHINee in 2016 because of Jonghyun’s solo album actually, just like how many people now are getting into them because of Taemin. Jonghyun’s solo albums are still my favourites and I’m so glad I discovered him and got into SHINee they are really special

Once You are Taem-in you can’t Taem-out! Taemin and his female backup dancers are the best! Backup female dancers are always there with Taemin and I love how they are integral to his performance. The more you see of his live performances the more you appreciate how his backup female dancers are not just props, but a force to reckon with! They are incredible and Shawols know them too! He’s of course from SHINee. Check his Japanese work too!

I could write a novel about Taemin but to keep it as short as I can.. yes, Taemin plays the piano, not only uses both male and female backup dances but when films in other countries using backup dancers of different ethnicities as well (MVs such Press Your Number and Drip Drop). He was also known for breaking gender norms and androgyny in K-Pop. He was voted best dancer in K-Pop of all time. He does wish people would sometimes focus more on his vocal ability but knows that ppl want to see him dance and feels he must live up to their expectations in doing so. Taemin likes to show development so, this song is actually not a normal sound for Taemin. But, he can pull of any genre in my opinion. When Taemin debuted with SHINee in their song "Replay" it was based solely of dance and he was givin no individual lines in the song as he was said to be "tone deaf" and lack singing ability. So he worked with his vocal couch very hard and ended up being the first SHINee member to debut solo after the suggestion of what if I recall correctly was his vocal coach, which he still works with one. All his songs are good but, I prefer his ballads as his voice is very beautiful. Monologue, Love and Rise are a couple good ones. A few other videos by him that I didn't see mentioned that you might want to check out are "Famous" and "Taemin The Stage Black Rose".. I could name a lot more but this did actually turn into a small book lol.

I like this one, she fully appreciates our husband and his impact! Yes he was really playing the piano, yes the hip tattoo is real, we live for Taemin and his girl squad dancers, Taemin in the crop top fit is life but also death 🤣 He is the God Tier! A true performer in every sense of the word. Taemin is just art in human form. As beautiful as that mans face is, his heart is even more beautiful. It's always been said that you can tell when someone is truly a master of dance when their dancing looks effortless and that is our Taemin. He looks like he's just floating on a gentle breeze across the stage. So much grace and fluidity but he also excels at sharp popping movements as well. His body control and isolations are literally the BEST! He specializes in choreographies that are minimalistic in appearance but are actually EXTREMELY difficult as there's a lot of slow intricate movements that require insane amounts of control. I would definitely recommend the 'Criminal' MV but really I recommend ALL of his MV's because ALL are just iconic and amazing. I'd also like to recommend his group, SHINee. I think you'll be blown away by their combined skills! It's always so tough when it comes to recommending because I can't decide on if it should be my fav song or if it should be where the legend began and then you could watch his growth. Either way, I'll be here for all of that because Taemin is my ult for life and SHINee is my ult group.
Taemin is art himself. Obviously he is the best dancer & best solo artist of kpop. He have won best dancer category 3 times in MAMA. I've been following Taemin for 4 years now & he introduced me with Shinee, I became completely hooked with them. As Taemin is mostly recognised for his solo work, Shinee is also recognised as the princes of Kpop & one of the most honored group in all over Korea. The members are all so amazing & funny. Also Taemin introduced me with Stray kids as I once watched his music core interview with Hyunjin & Stray Kids also made a comeback with Back Door that time. So I watched them for the first time. Later, I saw Hyunjin's cover of Criminal & his appearance in a show with Shinee's Minho. Now I'm proudly a Stay too. Is this a fate that I will stan Skz who also loves Taemin? I saw Bangchan appreciating Taemin too. Lee know had an episode with Key too. Wow I would love to have more Shinee & Skz interaction in the future.

The first time I saw Taemin's name was in the comments of a slippery stage video (Dream Concert) because while everyone else is falling over, Taemin's using his giant shoes to slide across the stage. Taemin debuted at a young age at age 14 with SHINee. In 2014 he was the first soloist from his company SM to make his debut at just 21 years old. "Danger" was his debut song and the dance was inspired as a tribute to MJ who inspired him to dance and become a great artist. There he began his endless journey with music, dance and art that has only consolidated him as the most exceptional and iconic artist, singer, dancer and performer of all time with his own musical vision very different from what is often seen in singers, groups etc. He has managed to distinguish himself from the rest by being creative and innovative in the most artistic way possible and with top-notch performances that only he can do. In 2019 he made his debut again and was the first chosen by Lee Soo man to belong to SuperM. ADVICE was his last release before joining the military. I see "Advice" as a continuation of the themes within Taemin's Never Gonna Dance Again album trilogy -- "2 Kids," "Criminal" and "Idea." With "Criminal" and "Idea," Taemin talks about being involved in a toxic relationship -- not necessarily a romantic relationship, but a metaphor for his relationship with fame -- in which he agrees to be manipulated almost to the point of being destroyed in order to become the artist we see today. But in the end of "Idea" we see him become free from the box everyone wants to put him in and he comes to terms with his role as an idol. He has now formed his own "Idea" about himself and what it means to be an idol, etc.
As Taemin explained during his VLive event for "Advice", "Advice" is like the end to the first chapter in his life, and the beginning of his second chapter, which will be after he completes his military service. (He enlisted May 30 and he will be on hiatus for the next 18 months as he fulfills his duty to his country.) The song seems to be his way of saying I am done caring to everyone who judged him and all those haters who spread rumors and misinformation about him. "Advice" is showing that he is now free and confident to be himself, breaking stereotypes and now only listening to himself.
Taemin is just one of those performers that leaves you speechless every time he steps on stage. He was born to be a performer and that is one of the reasons why he has become known as the Korean Michael Jackson. (Kai from EXO -- Taemin's best friend, who is also an SM Entertainment artist and fellow member of SuperM -- takes the other top spot. Side note: Baekhyun is also a member of SuperM.)
And the title of the industry's BEST dancer isn't just a fan's opinion but it's a widely agreed upon title bestowed on both Taemin and Kai by their peers and the industry as a whole.
Taemin is one of the most popular solo artists, as well as the youngest member of the legendary Kpop group SHINee. He debuted as a solo artist in 2014.
In "Advice" he's basically saying, "Stop trying to put me in a box, in which I'll never fit in." He is also speaking to everyone that says he's getting old, that he's just a Michael Jackson wannabe that doesn't sell a lot of albums because he tries too hard to be edgy, etc. He's rebelling against all those people who are constantly advising him to make more mainstream music or to follow the traditional Kpop idol style in order to boost his sales and his popularity. However, as Taemin is making clear in "Advice," that is not who he is and he will never be "normal" or "mainstream" and he is OK with that.
In the scenes where you see him covered in ink, I think that is supposed to be him showing everyone how he is no longer the "unstained," cute maknae everyone wants to think of him as.
This song was specifically designed to not be like anything he has ever done before. He plays the piano, he raps, he shows off his falsetto notes, etc. which is different than what we often hear and see from him. He intentionally used this song to prove that he isn't one type of singer. People often think of Taemin as a sultry vocalist that sings in a breathy comfortable less dynamic style. So, with this song he wants to prove to everyone that he can be unpredictable and try new things. Yet again, you can't put him in a box or tell him who to be. Everything you see in this MV is 100% Taemin.
Everything that Taemin's haters like to point out about him and say are reasons why he shouldn't be held to such high esteem, I find completely ridiculous. I don't think that anyone who actually knows him would ever say he has played it safe at anytime in his career. If you think he is only one dimensional, and that he is trying to be anything other than himself, then you really don't know Taemin. Everything he does is different, out there and definitely not safe. It's always uniquely Taemin, and he couldn't do it any other way.
Also, because Taemin is a member of SHINee, none of his songs are ever like anything you have every heard or seen before from him. It will always have a new beat, style and sound. As SM's experimental boy group, SHINee is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend, and that includes the members' solo work. With every new song Taemin produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from him in any of his songs, even on the same album, and yet, it still will be uniquely Taemin-like. Which is another example of how you can never put him in a box or expect anything from him. :D
Another theme in "Advice" is about how Taemin is embracing his androgynous side -- but on his own terms -- which I think is a continuation of the message in his "Move" MV. Early in his career when Taemin was growing up in SHINee he was known for his feminine look. The industry thought it was novel and cute to dress Taemin up as a girl and play up his feminine features. It took him a long time to accept that he was known for his looks and to come to terms with the fact that everyone thought of him as a "pretty boy," etc. So, at this point in his career he is making a statement about how he has decided to be himself and no longer care what people think. Music is art and art has no gender. So, that is why in "Advice" you see him wearing hair extensions, fishnets and women's Supreme sports wear, etc. But if you notice, his choreography is very fast paced and sharp which is hyper masculine -- a complete contrast to the "feminine" image people want to give him. You also see him wearing makeup, but it's smeared on his face, as if to say, "people may think of me as a 'Pretty Boy,' but I don't care about looking pretty."
In the lyrics where he says "floppy" I think he's talking about knowing about or hearing firsthand the things people are saying about him, but he is choosing not to pay attention to them because what they're saying is flopping or doesn't hold any weight or have any substance, etc. "Advice" just proves that everytime people try to put Taemin in a box he destroys it and keeps coming back with something more unique and never seen before.
I interpret the "One (piece of ) Advice" he is talking about in the lyrics as a reference to the advice he keeps being given about being more mainstream, but he's saying, "stop trying to make me conform to the image you have in your head of who I should be and what I should do" -- in other words, take all that time and effort you have been using to come up with ways to talk about how I don't fit in, etc. and put it to better use. "Follow my own advice" and do something original for once.
As a devout Catholic, Taemin often uses Biblical references and metaphors in his songs and MVs. And the crucifixion pose at the end of "Advice" is sort of a signature pose for him. I interpret it to be like he is saying, "And that is the end, this is my final word, take it or leave it, but don't doubt me. I have gave it my all and laid everything I had out there for you," etc.
If you are impressed with Taemin's dancing in this MV, just wait until you see him dance live. You will be even more blown away. Taemin is on a whole other level.
Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Although he has input in almost everything he does, he has choreographers that come up with the choreography for most of his dances and he then infuses it with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. If you watch Taemin dance more, you will see that no matter who choreographs the dance, it will always have that Taemin feel.
Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years, as you see with "Advice," he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him.
And, as the youngest member of SHINee, Taemin's talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. With 13 years since their debut, they still command one of the top spots. When Taemin debuted in 2008 as part of SHINee he was only 14 years old and, yet, he was already known as one of the best dancers in the industry, and he has only gotten more magnificent over the years.
Now after more than a decade, Taemin is still one of the youngest in many Kpop circles -- he is only 27 -- and, yet, he often has the most seniority and experience. He is so well respected that everyone looks up to him.
SHINee are a 5 member group that is known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live for 3+ hours straight and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography the whole time. SHINee is the group that really set the standard when it comes to live performances. It's literally known as the SHINee standard and it's what all other groups work to reach.

I recommend you watch 'Move' by him. Its an iconic song and video, it went viral in korea and broke many stereotypes about dancing in kpop, about having a choreography with female dancers but in a dance that has no gender boundaries. WANT too has this vibe. Or you can also see his other works, Criminal or IDEA, which are the most recent before Advice. You will notice that his mvs are quite artistic, and very strong in dance. But Chan played it on vlive at some point and I couldn't resist. I really liked Shinee's comeback with Don't Call Me! SHINee was the first group I’ve been with since debut. Seeing people experience SHINee or Taemin for the first time is such a magical experience lol. 📅 Yep, Advice is the last solo mini album that he worked so hard in between other projects to put out for us fans as a gift before he finally enlisted into his mandatory military service at the end of May. There's a b-side on it featuring TAEYEON too if that interests you

Now Im a Staywol and im so glad you're listening to my only non-skz ult dkjhdfk For Taemin solo songs I recommend his solo debut Danger, as well as MOVE, Want, Idea, and of course Criminal. I also HIGHLY recommend the MV for 2Kids, I think it's a perfect display of his pure dancing artistry.

He's also part of SuperM! SM's "avengers of kpop" group with exo and nct members. Theres really no lack of content from him djfhdjjk he'll be back from military before you're done getting through it! He's also a total sweetheart that loves to mess around with his hyungs and take care of his dongsaengs. Very much a mischievous maknae that makes everyone fall in love with him, kinda like if Jeongin, Hyunjin, and Felix were all mashed together lol.
Taemin and his female dancers squad are legend. And this isn't something new from him coz he's been doing it since 2017, even one of his most iconic title track - Move - only featured female dancers as his back up dancers. From there Taemin is known consistently dancing with female dancers as part of his dance crews.
What I respect from taemin regarding dancing with female dancers is that he doesn't make them as his accessories, not as sexual objects, or to beautify his empty dance floor. Most of the time they dance with similar choreographies, with the girl squad just as fierce and as strong as he is and him also (mostly always tho) as fluid, elegant and delicate as they can be.
The Supreme fit? Taemin known as a top notch soloist who always breaks boundaries. For him clothes is clothes, makeup is makeup, dance is dance, dancers are dancers, why putting them into boxes for men/women.
