For those who dont know, Ponyboy Curtis is actually a reference to the main character of the novel "The Outsiders" and at 31:48 you can hear 2d say "Stay Golden Ponyboy" which is what one of Ponyboys friend says right before dying in the novel. Just wanted to share a cool lil reference I noticed.
I can tell you guys have done this for a while and I just started to watch last night (loving it, btw), but I'd like to see a change to the format simply because I can't get enough of this! It's basically a double-elimination bracket, Broken into Qualifier rounds 1 & 2, Last Chance Qualifier rounds 1 & 2, and the Finals. Points system remains mostly the same. However a DNF means the drivers get 0 points, and a wreck counts as -1 point. Q 1 & 2 - Same bracket setup. 16 drivers. 4 drivers compete in 4 races for 2 spots in Qualifier rd. 2. The cars rotate position each race same as the current format. Q2 consists of the advancing drivers in their respective Q1 races. Same rotation format. Only the top performer in their 4 races advances to the Finals. LCQ 1 & 2 - The 8 losing drivers in Qualifier 1 compete to move on to LCQ2. Same race format as Q2. Only the top racer advances to LCQ2. In round 2, winners of LCQ 1 face losers of Q2. Same format as Q2. Top performer moves on to the Finals. Final round - returns to single-elimination. the 4 competitors compete in 5 races to determine the winner. Rotation remains the same for the first 4 races. In the final race, the 2 drivers with the least points line up front row, with the lowest points total getting the inside lane and highest points total getting the outside lane in the rear. Highest points total after all 5 races wins. Lowered to 5 races instead of 8 due to each competitor having at least 1 outright win getting to the Finals. This way, a car has to advance twice to make it to the Finals, and win outright at LEAST twice in order to be considered the champion. Making it to the Finals removes your shot at another chance. As soon as you're in the finals, it's a 1 round, 5 race shootout. I'm probably thinking way too hard about diecast car racing, but if nothing else I think this can make entertaining stories in your broadcasts. Anyway, I love this way more than any adult should! Looking forward to more!
