Tip:
For the best viewing experience, use a TV or computer to see the setup clearly. If I'm going too fast, you can slow it down by clicking on the gear in the bottom right corner, selecting Playback Speed, and choosing 0.25, then mute the sound.
Setup Overview:
This setup works for managing diabetes in areas with no Wi-Fi or phone data. I can’t speak to its reliability since I no longer own the watch; I borrowed it just to make this video in case I need to revert to this setup in the future.
Notes on the Setup:
This is one of the easiest methods to set up the watch.
I haven’t explored other methods as I didn’t use this watch for long, but this is a good starting point.
I’ve never used the Dexcom G7 directly on the Galaxy Watch Active 2, so I can't comment on its reliability.
During the setup, the Gwatch app crashed. I cleared the app's cache and data, and if you uninstall it, make sure to un-optimize the battery in app settings.
Compatibility:
This setup works on the Galaxy Watch Active 2 and possibly other Samsung Tizen watches. I used a Samsung phone for this setup. When using my Google Pixel phone, I encountered a "UiBasedCollector" notification blocked by Google when installing xdrip+. You can find a fix in my video linked here: [Notification Fix]( • Xdrip+ Install UiBased... ).
Key Features:
The Dexcom G7 app is "left alone" for normal use, and it uploads glucose readings as usual, reconnecting to Wi-Fi or data later.
It's important to manage phone updates carefully to prevent software issues. I disable updates for diabetes-related apps in the Google Play Store and suspend Android updates until I'm ready to handle any potential problems.
Software Used:
*Xdrip+:* A huge thank you to the community contributors! More info can be found [here](xdrip.readthed...) and for nightly builds [here](github.com/Nig....
*Xdrip+ Install Issues:* If you see "This app was built for an older version of Android" on Android 14, don't worry; it works for me. More discussion can be found [here](github.com/Nig....
*UiBasedCollector Notification Fix:* I made a video on how to fix this issue, which you can view [here]( • Xdrip+ Install UiBased... ).
Gwatch Installation:
*Gwatch:* Installed on both phone and watch, available in the Google Play Store. If you have issues, try downloading it directly from the Samsung App Store on the watch. For more help, visit the [Gwatch User Group on Facebook]( / gwatchapp .
