    Saw this at Costco today for $89.99, I was going to buy it but wasn’t sure how the rice would turn out. Thanks for this review, will definitely buy it next time I head to Costco. 🙂 my old rice cooker will have a new home in my trailer so I’m not having to unpack and pack when we go camping, it’s such a pain 😆

    How do you measure the rice to water ratio?

    • @Jay_Rule
      @Jay_Rule 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the type of rice but if you use Jasmine, it's usually 2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice. I'm currently using basmasti rice and those take double the amount of what I just stated. It's a learning process that once you get down you will never forget.

    • @Jay_Rule
      @Jay_Rule 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's too much trouble. I suggest just boiling it in a pot of water the old school way. Otherwise it's:
      Add 2 cups of water to the rice pot and set it into the cooker. Place eggs in a steamer tray and set in the rice pot. Close cooker lid. Start the cooker on the Steam function and set the timer: 11 minutes for SOFT boiled, 13 minutes for MEDIUM boiled, 15 minutes for HARD boiled.

    I was about to buy this and decided to see if there was any reviews. I'm so glad I watched your review because there is no way I would buy a machine that takes 2 to 3 times longer to cook just rice than the stove top method. Holy begeez 22 minutes for rice to come out looking like that?
    SORRY not your fault or a negative on you! I'm strictly talking about the cooker. I have been back and forth about these pressure cookers and I currently have one still in the box. I bought the instant pot 9 function 6L for $99 CND but I think it's just an overpriced waste of counter space. Then I found this t-fal on best buy for $49 and I like the white, size and I like t-fal, but I'm good after seeing this. The instant pot is going back to the store tomorrow and I'm going to go to homesense and buy a couple new pots for less than 1/2 of the t-fal and I'm good at making perfect fluffy rice on the stove.
    PS You do need to learn to fill your kitchen sink up with hot water, lots of dish soap, maybe a 1/4 cup of bleach and wipe down your appliances, countertops and utensils. Nobody would find any meal appetizing if they saw a dirty kitchen and appliances!! 🤢 I swear the condition of your old cooker looks like something you would see at the landfill after being there for a long time. I have never seen something that dirty EVER. 😱 Sorry but I'm being honest. Please don't eat food around that kind of filth. 👍🏼

      I really don’t think they cook rice often or anything for that matter if they found the Instapot useless, typical rice cooked in a pan takes 15 minutes from boiling point so 22 minutes from cold water would be pretty normal. Your rice did look too rice but I couldn’t blame the cooker as it relates to the ratio of rice to water you used, it should be 1:1 after rinsing the rice.
