When clearing a jam, that funny shaped piece fell out. I'm in Kingston NY and no one would work on a nail gun. The manual was no help but your video helped me put the trigger mechanism back in place in 15 minutes. Thanks, dude.
3 mm Allen wrench. I just loosened the three screws and used a pair of needle nose pliers to remove bent brad caused by operator’s error. Reloaded and it worked great.
I placed a 16 gauge, instead of the 18 gauge nail and the nail gun jammed. Watched your video and took the nail out in within 3 minutes. Thank you, now I can feel at ease.
I am a homeowner with a day job who does not do anything construction related for a living. That being said I am working on framing out my basement and Bought this th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHQsUrwNr5GQrnx9V4xDdUr56qxwuiBHt gun. I have done a few walls already, have probably shot a couple hundred nails through this thing and have yet to have a misfire. It works awesome, good depth on every nail if you have your compressor set right. My literal only complaint is that it is a bit heavy and my arm can get a little tired especially whrn I am nailing at odd angles. That being said I am super happy with it and would buy it again. Hoping the old girl allows me to get my whole basement finished out!
I was able too loosen up the 3 star screws and retrieved the jam nail with a small pair of needle nose pliers. Thanks for showing me how too clear this jam.
Thanks for the video! Super helpful! To anyone else watching, it isn't a star wrench....it's an H3 (hex) bit :) the closest star bit is a T15 and that will strip the heads.
Just did a big reno, had to use this trick a few times - many thanks. One thing I would add is that in Canada, the screws require an allen wrench instead of star bit. When you said star bit I had a ffs moment, but double checked to make sure.
wow, literally everything is on youtube, thank you for this, wasn't sure where that little cylinder went. Had a really bad jam, dug out nail from loading side but head was flattened up in the slide and broke off! Thank you!
Hi Carol Ringwald! I'm glad that this video helped and I know the frustration with trying to figure it out! I was ready to toss the one I had until I figured there had to be a way! Thanks again and take care!!!
Very helpful, thank you! In my case I just had to slightly loosen the three screws, without removing anything from the gun. That was enough to be able to pull the nail out.
I was able to clear the jam by just loosening the three screws enough to take the pressure off to remove the jammed brad. I used either 4 or 5 mm hex Allen wrench. This may work for some nail jams and others you may have to follow the video. I do recommend just trying tonloosening the screws first without taking them out to possibly save yourself time.
Backing out those three screws on the front a few twists without taking them completely out worked for me. My jam must have not come with peanut butter. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for this...just had a jam in the middle of a project. Thought I'd be able to pry it out without taking the tool apart and that definitely wasn't happening.
THANK YOU!!! This video saved me a lot of time this morning. I did end up using my drill to unscrew those star screws, since it was too tight for me to to it by hand. Mine are not plastic though, so maybe the manufacturer fixed that.
Hey, I took apart my gun as you instructed but the silver piece which you said not to bend was not in the same place as yours. I tried to pull it out but it didn’t work, I also put the gun back together, dry fired it and paid attention to it, seems though it has not moved. At first I thought a mail might have been jammed but I’m unsure what the problem might be now. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Can someone please tell me what "that metal piece" on minute 4:00 is called? When I fire that metal piece doesn't go back anymore therefore won't fire.
I've had this nailer for 5 years and it has never worked. The other two that came in the set work fine. I took it to the service center twice, they hooked it up both times and it worked, but does not work when I get it home. When pulling the trigger it seems to want to fire but nothing happens. I do hear a click of some type. What do you think I should do? thanks
Hey James! I know that this may sound simple regarding a possible solution but do you think you have enough pressure coming our of your compressor? The only reason I'm suggesting that... well 2 reasons ... is because they are showing that the gun is working therefore there is nothing wrong with the gun... secondly I've had the issue where a nailing gun would give some effort but no more than that when trying to fire off a small compressor even though it showed 100 psi... I used the same gun on another compressor with more psi and it worked the way it needed to ...my recommendation is to find a buddy with a solid compressor and hook it up to that. I'm wondering if the compressor is the only issue that needs to be fixed to make your gun work...
Alex Quiroz I hear you but the other two guns work fine with my compressor. But yeah if I find someone with a gun I could check using their compressor. I'm wondering how I can further increase the pressure...been a while but I guess I can increase the pressure on it?
unless things are really fubar, just loosen the star screws 4-5 turns so they are still retained, these small brads will fall out enough for you to pull them the remainder, then just snug the screws back up
is functionable a word? though I wish I could see better what you're doing (I'm as handy as a kite on a calm day), it's pretty awesome that you took the time to make this video and because of it, I had the confidence to open my nail gun and remove the jam. well done!
So, Now that I watched this video, I know what the problem is, I lost the depth guide piece that you said not to lose!! Gun constantly jams now. The parts list does not show this part..Where can I get a replacement??? TIA!!
Hi Alex, I am borrowing a nail gun just like this one, and it got jammed. My allen wrenches aren't fitting. It looks like it might be metric? Somewhere between 1/8" and 7/64" Do you know if it is metric? Maybe 3mm? I just thought I'd take a chance asking before going out to buy a set. I appreciate the video! Thanks!
Tran63128 thanks so much next time it jams I will definitely try that! When my gun jammed I looked all over youtube for a solution and couldn't find one and the day I figured it out I threw a quick video up in case anyone else was trying the same. Thanks for the extra help!
Lol thanks Thomas 69383 trust me had I known I wouldn't either... however this was a gift to me and I figured my way around it! Next gun will be one that has a quick release!

This is spot on. I went from scared to remove the plastic tip to back working. Thank you.
Thanks very much! The emphasis on the tiny little cylindrical sleeve was especially helpful!

Hmm...I used a T15 on mine just now and didn't seem to have any issues

Could not have unjammed the nail gun without this video! Thanks so much!

Saved me a ton of frustration and time! Thanks on the tip about the little round piece!
I have the bt1855 it is slightly different but your tutorial got me through and It is working now. Thanks

Thanks man, you saved me from ruining the weekend. That stupid guide piece bounced out on me and also didn't realize my trigger got loose.
Thank you! I appreciate your emphasis on details.
Alex, this video was a lifesaver today. Thanks!
Great video - mine jammed but luckily I found your video before i found my drill, so hand tools & 5 mins later i was back in business.
Dude…you’re a life saver. Turned this into a 5 minute problem for me. Thanks for posting this.

What size weather millimeter or standard star wrench to remove the three screws
Thanks for this...just had a jam in the middle of a project. Thought I'd be able to pry it out without taking the tool apart and that definitely wasn't happening.
Thank you for your video. So glad you took the time to post!
Mine has an allen wrench, not a star wrench. Metric, but don't know what size. THIS WAS HELPFUL!! Thank you.
Thank you!! Jammed mine right at the end of my project and this was super helpful in getting me back up and going!
I hope you can help me, all the air scape for the back on my nail gun and it doesn't work
What If the silver metal slide is not out like yours. ? Mine only sticks out the housing about a in.???
Thanks a lot! Using it for a while, never got jammed. but it helps in advance!
Regardless of what some say on here, I'm not handy at all and this video helped a lot. Thank you very much.
Thanks brother. Got me out of a jam. Literally :) Appreciate the video.
Thanks for this video! How did you go about getting the stripped screw out of the gun? One of mine is stripped and I cannot get it out.
How did you get your stripped screw out?
Thanks alex i just bought the
Qty.Stanley Bostitch SB-2IN1 Combi Brad Nailer . That info is good to know
Thank you so much... I would have broke my nail gun if I hadn't watched this. Nice job alex
What kind of oil does it use?

Is it hex head Alan and what size please
Can someone please tell me what "that metal piece" on minute 4:00 is called? When I fire that metal piece doesn't go back anymore therefore won't fire.
Go to the Bostitch website. I think you'll find the schematics for the parts.
Good video, just what I needed, thanks, what type of oil do you recommend? 3in1?
thank you for the education. i just got this brad nailer
Mine has 3mm Allen head bolts instead of a "star" bit you mentioned.
Thank you that's the answer to my question a 3 mm
Thank you so much! This helped me! 👍🏼😀

Mine does the same thing. pew pews but no nail comes out. i have the tank that came with the kit, maybe the guage is wrong and it's under pressure.

Excellent video, thank you! Great explanation
I can't believe how worthless the internet was in fixing my jam except for this ONE video. Thanks for the help.
Bostich? You get zero thanks.
I’m glad I could help Room234 and thank you for taking the time!
When you un-loosen something, aren’t you actually tightening?
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Thanks, Alex! Very helpful.
Thanks! Helped me fix my gun!
what kind of star head? there's like 20 different ones. none of mine fit
T20
It's not a T15 or a T20. It's an H3 for anyone else looking into this.
at 3 minute 59: you do not need to lift the silver puncher. just push it up toward handle and you can easy remove jammed fasterner.
Tran63128 thanks so much next time it jams I will definitely try that! When my gun jammed I looked all over youtube for a solution and couldn't find one and the day I figured it out I threw a quick video up in case anyone else was trying the same. Thanks for the extra help!
Thank you so much. Your video was excellent!
Su Namiartt! I am glad that this video helped!! Thank you!!!
Anyone know what that little part that he warns you not to lose? Asking for a friend…
I was curious about the same thing, because either I lost it right away, or my particular model didn't have it to begin with.
Great video . Thank you
I wish there was more light and closer up.
Like every other tutorial video on TH-cam, skip to 2:30 for what you actually want to see.
Thank you, excellent!
Appreciate it but unloosen was driving me crazy. Nail back in? Screw back in.
Don't apologize for your kids' playing ;)
Great video. Wish you had some light shining on the area though. Tough to see.
You "nailed " it !
Thank you!! Very helpful!
I'm fixing mine the easy way, I just ordered the Dewalt with the easy latch on the nail shute.
THANK YOU YOU DID A GREAT JOB
thanks you make my day!
Real work starts at 2:28
Thanks!
Thank you!!
Thanks for the video
thank you. you saved me.
THANK YOU!
nice explanation
if you unloosen you're tightening.
Good video... "unloosen" ?? "loosen"
But thank you!
If I had to go through all that to free up a jam I would not buy this gun .
Lol thanks Thomas 69383 trust me had I known I wouldn't either... however this was a gift to me and I figured my way around it! Next gun will be one that has a quick release!
Thank you so much. I would have had to goodbye to my nail gun if it weren’t for you! Lol
I'm sorry, "UN-LOOSEN"??!!!! un-loosen= tighten, right?
Unloosen = tighten
Wait! Are we unloosening or loosening lol. JK good video
Good looking lol
Need better lighting hard to see with black background . Other than that good job. ...
