    Blundstones (water resistant or waterproof) with leather half chaps treated with beeswax.

    This is really useful. Do you wear dublin river tall boots on your adventures?
    What is the most wet you have gotten your tall boots on an adventure? Did they leak through and get your socks wet eventually?
    Do the tall boots take a longer time to dry out?
    Thanks this is really helpful

    I like to ride into deep water and get soaked. Which pair is better for that?

    I’m trying to find the pros and cons with paddock boots and cowgirl boots. I just got a job at a Ranch a have little horse riding experience. I’m hoping you can give me advice. So far I haven’t found any vids on it.

    I like the comfort & style of the western horse packer 10”. do I still need chaps? I’d like a taller boot British lace & buckle I love the Ariat for stable work comfortably. I also like Chippewa Crazy Horse Packers.

      Are you riding in jeans with those type of boots? If you ride in jeans you shouldn't need any half chaps with it. My husband doesn't wear chaps usually unless he has short paddock boots and breeches or if we are doing jumping or something like that. If you feel some rubbing after riding then I would suggest half chaps for support and so they don't rub you or the horse and to support your ankles. I agree that ariat boots for stable chores is comfy and the Chippewa boots you mentioned also look pretty comfy for being on your feet all day! Thanks for the suggestions!

      @@EquestrianAdventuresses yes, I ride in jeans. I’m usually on private property or wide open trails of Southern California. I used to ride through wooded areas w/ brush so I could’ve used full chaos bk then. I was more concerned w/ being slapped in the face by branches.

      @@khanscombe619 Ah yes if nature is attacking you then jeans or tall boots/boots with chaps help for protection. I liked having waterproof boots for trail rides in places where I thought I might be crossing rivers or getting wet, but if your just out in wide open trails in California then rain isn't really an issue for you! :D

    What are the best boots for reigning, including practice and for competition. Thank you

      That's a great question! I haven't competed in reining but I worked in Oklahoma for a couple of years with some reigning horses. The thing is, I've personally never ridden in cowboy boots (though I know that's the popular answer) for the reason that I find the ankles to be fairly stiff (and maybe need a lot of work to get them to break in?). So I don't know what the official competition requirements are, however I would say that there are boots that are a bit of a mix between paddock "half boots" and cowboy boots. One of the ones I use nowadays is an Australian brand called: Blundstone. They go great under my jeans and don't rub when I ride. They are very comfortable, the leather is nice and they allow my ankle to move with the horse easily. Ariat also makes some cowboy boots which are "half sized" which you might try if you'd prefer the cowboy look but I don't have any personal experience wearing those.

      Try a nice pair of Ariat cowboy boots. Since they're leather, yes they are stiff at first. That problem won't last very long at all.

    Can u ride in the Dublin river boots are they safe to ride in?

    • @EquestrianAdventuresses
      @EquestrianAdventuresses  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely! I wouldn’t jump 1.60m in them, but for long hours trail riding or doing some flat work or small grids and even some polo exercises I’ve ridden in these tall boot types including the Dublin boots :) For advanced dressage and jumping I use my ariat half boots and chaps

    could i wear shorter english riding boots for a western trail ride that is about an hour and 30 minutes?

    • @EquestrianAdventuresses
      @EquestrianAdventuresses  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's up to you and what kind of riding you'll be doing and how fast the pace and what kind of boots and pants (jeans? breeches?). If you're an experienced rider and just riding for a short ride in your western saddle with paddock boots and chaps and breeches it won't be any issue though as I've ridden a western saddle before in English gear many times :)

    Can mens put on knee boots

    • @EquestrianAdventuresses
      @EquestrianAdventuresses  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have a type of knee boots in mind? Christian, my husband, wears tall ariat boots like the ones in this video and they are just below the knee and he likes them for comfort and for riding. He also likes his half boots (ariat paddock boots) and wears them all day long. (Though the first couple of weeks was tough while we were breaking in the boots!)
