Great advice, always amusing to read some of the negative reviews. On advice of our hotel receptionist, we took the bus to Park Guell, catching it on Passeig de Gracia. The bus took us very close to the park entrance further up the hill. It was only as we left the Park via the main entrance, that we realised just how far we would have had to walk uphill if we had taken the Metro. Also the Hop On, Hop Off bus advertising is misleading, they make it seem like their bus stop is right next to the park. We booked our tickets via the Park Guell official site, opting to do a guided tour. We can highly recommend this, our guide was amazing, very knowledgeable and entertaining.
Great advice!! Loved Park Guell!! We bought our tickets in advance and walked to the park from Sagrada Familia. It was quite a hike but there were benches along the way to stop and rest. The beauty of the area was so worth it! Keep up the great work Patrick!!
Almost every one these days have access to the web, takes only a few minutes to Google any place you want to visit. I thought it was an amazing place with great views over the city. The artwork as always was stunning. Thankyou Mr Gaudi. ❤❤
I’m always baffled by these types of reviews. It sounds like people don’t bother to even do 10 or 15 minutes of homework on sites they are visiting. And, comments about crowds at well known sites in Barcelona any time of the year, let alone in prime months, demonstrate a complete lack of perception about the tourism levels in this world famous city. If you want a tourist free experience, look elsewhere, or at least visit in winter for a less crowded experience. I’ve been to Barcelona twice, one time in late November and once in early November and had amazing experiences each time. I visited the Park during the 2022 trip and really enjoyed it…but I understood what I was going to see in advance, so could make an informed decision whether it was something to include on my itinerary. For some context, I was with my 81 year old mother on that visit, so realized that taking a taxi was the best way to arrive. She didn’t have any problem hiking around the Park and loved it all.
Hi James, I agree. I think it’s important to do a little look into the background and importance of the places you visit. Glad you and your mom were able to visit and enjoy the park
Thank you for the helpful video! I'm excited about my upcoming conference in Barcelona this month end. Your suggestions sound fantastic. I'll definitely explore La Rambla, Gothic Quarter, Barri Gòtic, and catch the sunset at Park Güell. Any other specific places or restaurant recommendations for a memorable evening? Looking forward to your insights!
What about bus 116 to reach the Park? It looks like the stop is at the entrence but either the official site mention it as possibility. It doesn't work?
Visited with my wife, in 2012, and with our boys, in 2015. Prices, areas included, timing, etc., was different between those visits, and it appears they've all changed again (maybe not for the better). Will probably find an excuse to visit again. But, now that we're locals, we can use your tips to optimize the visit. Have to scratch my head, when someone gives a one star review and complain that they didn't appreciate the difference between what they thought they were seeing on Google Maps, and what they encountered. If "would have just taken a taxi" would have fixed her experience, why give the park a 1 star review?
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona I was aware there is an admission card, for the surrounding neighborhoods. Do you know what Barcelona residents from outside of those neighborhoods need to show? Or, is it a case (like some of the free Sunday admissions to museums) just a matter of knowing your zip code?
Hola Patrick. You're so articulate. I love watching your videos. You explain things so well. Do you think the Gaudi House/Museum is worth the extra money? And, what time in the evening do you think is the best to go or if there's not as many people? vs. going at 9:30am. Gracias Patrick! Reed
Love all your videos. My wife and I are visiting in October. Which entrance do you prefer. (I think I read somewhere that one entrance let's you walk downhill more than uphill??)
Thank you for sharing your ideas! I have booked my ticket for 10.00 Euros today, a very reasonable price to visit this site, I did my research, watched a few guides and advice from others who have been there. I am looking forward to my visit next October! Most of the negative reviews are a consequence of poor research or even complete ignorance about the place being visited. Some are not even related to the park itself. I would say to travelers: Go and enjoy all Barcelona has to offer! Live and appreciate every moment with all the positives and don´t dig so hard trying to find the negatives in every step of life.
we had the guided tour with Raul. Bus drops you off right at the main entrance for tours. Once we'd done all the main features on the guided tour we walked the perimeter path all the way round up one side and down the other. great musicians dotted about.
Generally speaking, how much time it takes you to visit the park ? Planning to visit first time in the morning, then walk to the Sant Pau hospital and finish in the afternoon with Sagrada Familia. Is theatre double without rushing through ?
Thank you for the review. Visiting after tomorrow and I am really excited. But you haven't commented on one very important review (in my point of view 😂)...are there bathrooms at the park?
My concern with booking a timed ticket is that I don't want to arrive early as there is not much to do and if I arrive half an hour late I presume I cannot get in. My wife and I are visiting on 20th or 21st Febuary this year. If we turn up at around 4pm, will we have to queue and will we get in given it is off peak?
You can’t guarantee there will be entrances available. The point of the ticket is to help you know what time you need to be there. Just show up on time and you’ll be fine!
What's your opinion on using the Hop on Hop off Bus tour as transportation to get to the Park? Two birds with one stone kind of theory. Do you know how long the bus ride might take from La Sagrada to the Park? Appreciate your in depth explanation in your videos!
Hop On Hop Off has its advantages. I have no idea how long it would take to the park specifically, it depends where you get on it. You could do it, but would need to leave time for traffic before your entrance
Good information, thank you. But why don't you give us the official sit's info to reserve? Please! We are coming from Canada and want to purchase the ticket in advance and want to make sure we are on the right site.
Ive purchased tickets to Park Guell, but I can't see where i can buy tickets to the Gaudi House/museum? We're visiting in the morning and then heading to Sagrada Familia in the afternoon after taking your advice on the best time to visit to see how beautiful it is! ❤
So many petty people. It's always someone else's fault, that they went unprepared. I'll be visiting in March and I've got the following advice - metro to station Lesseps and from there bus 24 to station Albert Llanas. From this entrance you walk downhill. As I read the comments, apparently they are even more options like this. Patrick, thanks for all your videos!
Thank you so much for your wonderful content! I am a subscriber and take notes while watching your videos 😊 I’ll be in Barcelona next month with my daughter and we have our park tickets. Quick question-would you suggest packing a lunch for Park Güell, or is there food to purchase there? We are getting there at 10 am and will probably stay at least 2-3 hours. Thanks again! You look so much like my son, you could be twins!
You’re very welcome! You can bring a lunch, the restaurants up there aren’t great. But remember the lunch hour is a bit later in barcelona, so you could also head down the hill to Gràcia and eat. Great places there. Maybe I can have your son shoot some of my videos. Haha
@@PatrickGuideBarcelona Haha there may actually be a few people who don’t realize it’s not you, the resemblance is crazy! …So helpful, thank you! I’ve been looking for info on the Sardanas dances but am getting conflicting info. Do they still dance? Much appreciative 🙏🏼
I just got back from a twenty-one day, solo backpacking exploration of: Spain (Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, Tarifa and Sevilla) & Morocco (Tanger, Chefchaouen, Fes, Merzouga/ Sahara Desert, Marrakech, Casablanca and Rabat). Logistically it went smooth (always prebook) and the hotels/ hostels were pleasant. It was insanely grueling, exciting and most of all, educational. I learned about their culture, interacting with the beautiful citizens, indulging the scrumptious gastronomy and I got to know myself alot better. Much respect for your insights of Barcelona because as we all know, Research Is A Must! I walked everywhere and the metro was a piece of cake to ride. Hang cool, amigo... vale.
These people who complain are sad. Park Guell is astoundingly beautiful. I first went in 1995 - free and very empty. I have been back a few times after. Always a stunning visit. However, the crowds of today do make it a bit more challenging to enjoy.
I'm surprised you don't have the bus option as one of your tips. If anyone is trying to avoid walking uphill take the metro to Pg de Gracia then take bus 24 to Carretera del Carmel. Do your research people!
Do not visit Park Guell until you have visited at least 10 other places. I just visited the park and I didn’t think it was worth the walk up and the admission fee. The experience was underwhelming.
I noticed it seems like the entrance fees to a lot of these attractions in Spain are a little bit more than things are in France. I wonder why that is I know they’re economy isn’t good so I’m sure they’re making it up on tourism.
I will never understand why people don't resourch beforehand. There are tons of videos and blogs like you offer. Not informing yourself beforehand and then being disappointed, angry. Then to give 1 star in the reviews is stupid and cheeky. They should stay at home...
Exactly. And thank you for your channel. Our beloved Barcelona needs a channel like yours that doesn't just show the usual attractions but shows the Barcelona that I love.
What a bunch of whiney tourists you highlighted. Most obviously did no research ahead of time to understand early ticket purchase, crowds, heat, etc. And for those complaining about the price, do they even comprehend how much $ it costs to maintain the park with millions of tourists coming each year. We just went directly to the official site and bought tickets for two for under 40 Euros that includes the home on the property, seems appropriate price to me. Those whiners should just stay home and go to their local county fair where they likely fit in better anyway.
A lot of these just sound like unfit people; which is their fault or at least up to them to manage their own expectations if their have disabilities that they can’t help. If they’re unfit or disabled, they should rent a small push scooter or wheelchair or go early in the morning when it’s cooler and less people.

Seems like most people’s gripes are about the fact that you have to plan your itinerary in advance. But this applies to anything these days.
I think this goes with a lot of activities when we travel. Don’t just check off a list. Look for meaningful experiences for you
In other words, bad reviews are left because these same people didn't do their homework before and blaming everything but themselves.
Everyone should conclude all reviews with THIS IS STILL FRANCO'S SPAIN!!! I'm adding it to the end of my review for Mount Rushmore.
I hope not
We took the Metro, then a bus to the entrance.
Another good option!
