Wow!! Never heard of "slow stiching".... have been looking for projects to do when traveling in our RV. 🎉 Your feed popped today with Meditative Scrolls... started to surf thru your other tutorials. This one really spoke to me - have done machine applique projects years ago and found them very satisfying. I was thinking I might try using glue stick or small pieces of iron on fusible to initially attach my bits .... Thanks for this - ready to get going on projects to attach to greeting cards!! ❤🌻🇺🇸
Hello and welcome! I’m so pleased you enjoyed the video. Glue stick is fine for attaching small pieces - the iron on fusible sometimes causes issue with stitching but try a small piece on a scrap and see how it goes. Happy stitching!
Pins are definitely a danger and should be avoided where possible. This was very interesting thank you. I have been wanting to learn stump work for years, I have the books, but haven't done it yet. I think combined with your style I am inspired to have a go. Many thanks. I could even incorporate my tatting. Yeah.
16:30 I wonder, if a little bit of glue stick to the back of these pieces would cause any issues, so it's easier to tack them all down? (probably wouldn't work well with sheer fabrics) but would that be an option? And to help me with placement I'd take a quick photo of it when I was happy. In case things got messed around. It's what I do with paper collaging because my cat loves to help...🙂 I really love how these were built up. They look so amazing.
This is adorable. I need to mend a few pairs of jeans. Was going to try Sashiko but I think making a slow stich patch similar to yours (probably not as detailed) will look much better. Thank you for the idea.

Thank you Mikelle - I think I know exactly what you mean. I could also do with a brush holder - I shall have to see what I can come up with :). The jeans fabric is a great idea as it is strong for use. I imagine the inside would be a contrasting fabric but with perhaps more of a utility feel about it. You’ve got me thinking now :
I just discovered this fabulous art couple of days ago and let me say that your video is the best I've seen so far. Totally for me as a newbie and have no enough fabric scraps so I asked my friend who has been a tailor for 30 years to save every tiny piece of fabric for me and I will start at the very soon to make my first slow stitching square 🤩🤩😍😍

Thank you so much for simplified technical instruction on putting together collage, choosing threads, etc. Just beautiful and easy to understand. Thank you for taking the time. Ive subbed and binge watching your list! Happy Stitching!

Hi there!! Just on a trip to the Caribbean at the moment so waving back from Saint Maartens :) The housework will still be waiting (sadly) after you have had some fun 😀❤️
Thank you for the beautiful video, was searching for new idea for spending my leisure so this is the best way to start actually your teaching methods are so helpful to me I ll join you all thanks again ❤
Love the technique and the way you have presented it! I cannot work that small, but the technique will work beautifully on a large scale too. Pura Vida from Costa Rica Central Americaq
14:38 wouldn’t a tiny bit of clipped-to-size Heat-n-Bond just before the ironing step save having to tack each piece down individually? Sewing it before sewing it, seems a waste of time 🤔 Beautiful colors, love the journal wrap 🤩
Sometimes the heat and bond affects the hand sewing making it hard to stitch through. You can tack, quilters glue or use the heat and bond if you wish. Tacking for me is part of the process of slow stitching :) ☺️
I love the content of your video, thanks so much for blessing us with this lovely tutorial ❤ I've subscribed, and look forward to many more enjoyable videos.
I actually read a few posts about how threads left out could be potentially damaging for birds and so I am looking at other ways to incorporate my threads back into pieces of my work instead :)
Halloooo, Tori! I came to you from Our Annie's Arty Farty channel. I've also heard about you from my friend Kari Gibson. Annie has been trying to get me to start stitching for a while now. I'm a mixed media artist and painter and I've never tried stitching except for the occasional button. I'm noodling around on YT to get some ideas and to try to figure out where to begin. I'm literally starting from scratch. I've ordered a lovely embroidery kit from Amazon with a delicious array of beautiful threads. I've no fabric yet. I'm thinking to go to a fabric store and have a wee look around - wouldn't you say that's my best bet? I've no one in my life that I can beg scraps off. And the fabric remnants I see on Amazon are a wee bit overwhelming. They are all such big pieces! And so difficult to buy sight unseen - or "unfelt" as it were lol. I really enjoyed this! Thank you. I love that you did a collage which made me feel right at home. I adore everything about it! Love and Bless xo
Hi Lindsey - so pleased you found me :). One thing I might suggest is to look at old clothes and use the fabric from them. I regularly cut up old clothing to use in my pieces and sometimes I go to charity shops (thrift stores/op shops) to find pieces to use. They often have some clothing which you can get a lot of material from and also they sometimes have sewing material too :). Hope that’s helpful :) ❤️
How kind you are! I was emailing with Annie and told her I'd enjoyed your vids very much. She has very kindly offered to send me some bits and bobs. So lovely of her. It's funny that it never crossed my mind to look for old things to cut up! Duh. Such a frugal way to begin a new hobby. LOVE it! I adore to go to thrift stores, too.Thank you for the suggestions! I'm so inspired by you and Annie. Bless xoxo@@KoolKookyKreatures
Ask around for fabrics, lots of people have scraps and if they are quilters they will have messes of scraps to share. The range of fabrics is important. DM me and I’ll send you some in an envelope. Unfortunately textile folk have way too much to use in a lifetime.
@@puppetsnippets6830 How enormously kind! Since I left this comment, I've amassed a whole container of fabrics - some lovely ones, too! Thank you for your lovely response. I shall keep you in mind, my darling! Bless xo
Wow. I just came across your channel. I’ve been looking and watching for you. Oh My Goodness!! And here you are. Amazing and Beautiful work. Thank You very Much ❤❤
This is just a piece of felt - I wrote the word “love” on it with a frixion pen or similar removable fabric marker and then stitched it on a back stitch. I did a few at a time and then cut around them being careful not to cut through the stitching. I then appliquéd it onto the piece :). Hope that is helpful to you ❤️
I was waiting for this video.😍 I already said it, but I love your style so much.💖 Can you post a photo of your book cover? That one is also amazing! Wow.
@@KoolKookyKreatures Ohe I must have missed that or forgot.🤭 I noticed that Facebook isn't showing all messages in the feed from a few pages I follow. Edit: I did see it and commented.🤭😅
I am loving this idea. But could you just do this without the tacking stitch? ( like choosing a piece and just do a stitch around each fabric piece). I had never even heard of this way of designing something. I love doing cross-stitch, crochet, and sewing on my machine… and I might just add this in with my embroidery book my hubby got me for last year’s birthday.
Yes you absolutely could :). I just tack mine down so that I’m not losing the position of pieces. You could just pin or even a small amount of fabric glue but do test to make sure it doesn’t come through your fabric and ruin the piece :) Happy sewing :)

The jeans fabric is a great idea as it is strong for use. I imagine the inside would be a contrasting fabric but with perhaps more of a utility feel about it. You’ve got me thinking now :
I love this! My kind of stitching!!!
I’m so happy that you enjoyed it 🥰
Thanks you very much for sharing this beautiful tutorial ❤ 😊 I will try to make
I hope you get much pleasure from making. Happy Stitching! 🥰

Glad you enjoyed! :) ❤️
I’m so pleased you enjoyed it. Also - a good place to find material is old clothing that you no longer wear. Happy stitching! 🥰
@@KoolKookyKreatures A good idea Im gonna check my wardrobe for sure 😃. Thank you so much! xoxoxo

So pleased that you enjoyed it! :) ❤️
Love the technique and the way you have presented it! I cannot work that small, but the technique will work beautifully on a large scale too. Pura Vida from Costa Rica Central Americaq
Thank you - so pleased you will be able to make it work for you 🥰❤️
14:38 wouldn’t a tiny bit of clipped-to-size Heat-n-Bond just before the ironing step save having to tack each piece down individually? Sewing it before sewing it, seems a waste of time 🤔
Beautiful colors, love the journal wrap 🤩
Sometimes the heat and bond affects the hand sewing making it hard to stitch through. You can tack, quilters glue or use the heat and bond if you wish. Tacking for me is part of the process of slow stitching :) ☺️
Lovely tutorial
Thank you ☺️
This is wonderful!
Thank you 🥰
This is just crazy quilting.
It has similarities to crazy quilting but there are no seams and the stitching process is generally done in a mindful way.
Just found your channel, what fun! A girl after my own heart! Sign me up, I’ll be stitching along!
Welcome to the Kooky corner :) We will be stitching together x

I love the content of your video, thanks so much for blessing us with this lovely tutorial ❤ I've subscribed, and look forward to many more enjoyable videos.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments Joan and for subscribing - it means a lot! I’m glad you are enjoying 🥰
You could put the threads on a bird table, they would love them for their nests
I actually read a few posts about how threads left out could be potentially damaging for birds and so I am looking at other ways to incorporate my threads back into pieces of my work instead :)
❤️ TFS! This is beautiful!
Thank you 😊
Happy to have found you.
I’m happy you are here 🥰
Halloooo, Tori!
@lindseywarren44 you are very welcome Lindsey ❤️
Thank You very Much ❤❤
You are so very welcome and thank you :) ❤️
This is so cool!! Thank you! Can you use a water soluble glue stick to tack the pieces down?
Hi Susan - yes you can :) 🥰❤️
Wonderful video. Can you tell me please if you have a tutorial on how to make the “love” text on this piece. Many thanks
This is just a piece of felt - I wrote the word “love” on it with a frixion pen or similar removable fabric marker and then stitched it on a back stitch. I did a few at a time and then cut around them being careful not to cut through the stitching. I then appliquéd it onto the piece :). Hope that is helpful to you ❤️
Wow! Beautiful work! I'm new here and I'm very impressed!
You are so very welcome and thank you for your kind comments :) ❤️
You are amazing dear.. i luv this...❤
Thank you 🥰
First time here and I subscribed !
Thank you so much! I’m so pleased you enjoyed it :) 🥰
Absolutely beautiful 😍
Thank you Debbie 🥰
Love your tutorial. Would you ever take a picture with a phone before you start tacking, just in case something moved by accident?
Thank you and yes I definitely would do that :). I was using my phone to film with but as a rule it is a great idea to take a picture 🥰❤️
First time watching you, loved it! Thanks!
Thank you so much and you are very welcome ❤️
I was waiting for this video.😍 I already said it, but I love your style so much.💖 Can you post a photo of your book cover? That one is also amazing! Wow.
Thank you so much lovely! There are a few photos on my Instagram and Facebook of the journal wrap but I will try and post another up today :) 🥰
@@KoolKookyKreatures Ohe I must have missed that or forgot.🤭 I noticed that Facebook isn't showing all messages in the feed from a few pages I follow.
Edit: I did see it and commented.🤭😅
@@Miauwies I may do a tutorial on that at some point too and also maybe a brush holder :)
First time here, your work is beautiful!
Thank you so much and welcome :) ❤️
So pretty
Thank you Laura :)
I do a lot of this but I really enjoyed your video ! I subscribed !
Thank you so much Mary - you are very welcome xx
Love this
Thanks Lucy x🥰
