He earned forgiveness, but FL should move on in both versions. Btw, if I see more complaints for this version then the other one - the plot is the same, actors are good in both - with someone something isn't right, me or people. It's sad but real truth of the society that even when a man cheats on his woman she'll accept him but if it's other way round neither in real nor in reel I have seen men accepting and forgiving a cheating wife who may or may not be genuinely sorry... But people have expectations from women that even after cheating and getting beatings they must forgive and accept their trashy men... I know there are a lot of strong willed women who don't tolerate such men and their abuses but sadly there are a lot of them who do end up giving chances to such men for various reasons... I hope everyone finds a good partner irrespective of their genders.

I don't know, but I personally would not have given him one - because cheating is still cheating, regardless of the reason behind it. I enjoyed watching him struggle and suffer from regret and wished he suffered more in regret. It would have been great character development. But I still would not have given a second chance.
