  • Solo mountain camping in sub zero conditions - testing the sea to summit Alto TR2.
To say it's good to be back out in the hills would be an understatement, this was one of the best wild camps of my life for many reasons. I got to test a few bits I'd acquired over the last few months and was pretty happy with everything, except the tent. The tent does have its good points but it didn't meet my acceptation and for me it didn't warrant its price tag.
I'll leave links to most things used in this video below 👇. The rest of the items can be found in my Amazon store which is updated regularly with items I use and/or recommend.

Hey Clayton, from someone who works in the psychotherapy field, just know that there is always someone to talk to and ultimately it's the most courageous thing to do. In the end, YOU are the expert on yourself but sometimes even the best people in the world get stuck just for a second on what questions they need to ask about their mind to give the answers to move up and overcome. So seek out help and let them use their expertise in asking the right questions to help you figure out how to move forward.
Hope to hear from you and how you're doing in the future.

I have the tr3. The light bar is very easy to put up using the inner roof vent and works brilliantly. Has never fallen off under it's own weight. I always close zips with a fingertip in-between fabric and zip as I have ripped holes in flysheets before I started to do this. Tr3 is a super tent for 2 people. Easier to put up with footprint.

its a good tent.. he had a random fluke zipper catch that really turned him off. understandably but he prob could have zipped and unzipped that door 1000 times and that would have only happened once. other than that, the tent is great regardless if you use or dont use the light bar or stuff sacks for pockets.

Ive been hiking 10 days every summer the last 7 years but never seen any videos on youtube about hiking. I came across this video when searching for tents and i got hooked.
There is something about you and your videos that got me watching for hours.

Hazy, I spent the first 30 minutes of this video, saying to myself "I recognise that tarn, I recognise that fell, I recognise that view of Helvellyn from that aspect." When I saw that big cairn on your fell, I knew. Me and my mate had our first wildy of the year on the first fell directly to your west on Friday and we had exactly the same conditions, lovely sunset and flat calm. It was my first camp in that part of the Lakes and I loved how there were less wild campers than other parts I've been to, so mum's the word on location ;)

I don't do wild camping but I do love scrambling through areas away from civilisation and doing a spot of geology. I've really enjoyed watching wild camper videos on YT, had a laugh and even learnt a few things. Today I discovered a real gem of spot up Cripple Path on the IOW. Sitting on a sandstone ledge with overhanging rocks and a treetop view out to the sea. Not a soul around. Bloody wonderful.

Thank you so much for your videos. I’ve been poorly and in and out of hospital the last 3 years with a neurological disorder, which has taken a lot of my mobility and caused respiratory failure, but your videos really help me relive my time camping and hiking outdoors with my family. One day I hope I’ll be strong enough again to go for a toddle and a forage in the woods. But yeah, thanks for bringing me a little peace and calm with the shitstorm of the world. Cheers to you duck, and sending all the light in the world.

Recently discovered the channel..enjoying your infectious personality and enthusiasm! Oh and the walk past shots when you come back for the camera are brilliant..hate watching self filmed walk pasts knowing they’re coming back in a few minutes..this is one of the favorite parts of the videos so don’t stop them! 👊🏼👍🏼

Gotta love red wine on a camping trip. I've had a bottle opener in my kit from the beginning of time....just...in...case... hehe. Great video the countryside is stunning. So glad you gave the kit to the young fella, we've got to encourage the next generation to go out, explore and realiize how amazing nature can be. I'm heading off on a camping trip in one weeks time up to the Kimberley of Western Australia for 2 months, so excited! It's been a couple of years since I've been North and it's going to be freaking awesome. Gonna blow that depression out of my head 💜💜💜

The long bag can easily be shortened if you need to - turn inside out and tie off with clip or rubberband whatever , turn back around and bingo. Holds the form better as well.

Personally I’d already be fine with the two mesh pockets on the side of the tent. The clips are just nice, so one doesn’t loose the bags in the tent 😂 in practical use I’d probably clip both bags with one clip only on one side. Put all the pack sacks in it: mattresse, sleeping bag, stupid shite/light bar (would require getting rid of the worthless diffusor keeping it in shape but I don’t see any disadvantages?)
Because those are the things which I always hunt for when packing in the morning.
(I already suspected that these bags and the shite bar are just gimmicks one wouldn’t use anyways so I thought about how I’d still make use of them).
Oh and another advantage of the separate tent bags: A wet outer tent / rainfly wouldn’t be stored in the same bag as the hopefully dry inner tent.
      #thinkPositive :)

I've found that putting the stuff sack for my sleeping bag and mat in the bottom of each storage bag also keeps their form better, but like you say the two net pockets take plenty of stuff.

Over £400 Oh Geez, that's enough to freeze the mind, Send it back,Haze, not fit for purpose! I have a Coleman Darwin 2 person tent, slightly embarrassed about naffness, but, there's a lot to be said for it, it's solid, excellent quality, brill ventilation, sun protection factor, fantastic inner fabulous outer, I am very impressed, with the thickness of the outer, 100% happy with insulation factor, was lovely and warm in it, and I'm sure it will last a lifetime, and it's not expensive!!
