    OMG. That rotary blade cutter is a beast. Never would have thunk it. Thanks for a great tip and video. Off to Amazon I go after I’m done watching.

      It really is, and I do not expect anyone to make this level of investment. It will cut through just about anything. It was one of the first investments I made years ago when my friend and I had a clothing line. We also used industrial machines, but I was not using it like I should and decided some time back to start using it again. The company's customer service is excellent! I am not sure the lower cost versions are comparable, but I would start with the lower cost version and see how they work for you!

    I’m new to bag making and I’ve been viewing dozens of of makers sites. This is by far the most impressive collection of bags I’ve seen. Your bags are in a different league.
    Crazy beautiful. I’m thrilled to keep learning g from you.

      Woah!! Thank you Joan! You have no idea how much your words mean to me this morning! I literally have not been able to sew in a month and you just gave me a shot of fuel! Sending you hugs!

      I hope your site gets top views and more traction because your level of skill is markedly above most that I’ve viewed. I’ve been obsessively watching tutorials for about a month. Looking looking looking and I just stumbled upon your site. I’m quite thrilled. I hope you have tremendous success. 👍🙏🏼

      I know it is pricey!!! You do not have to opt in for the Maimin brand I own, although it has served me well for almost 30 years...I have been super pleased with it as well as their customer service. Wishing you all the best this holiday season as well!

      Merry Christmas! Yes! It can get tricky with small pieces! Holding them flat to get a precise cut will be key on large layers of really small pieces!

    Great tips! I use a paper cutter for patterns too. I have thought about getting a rotary cutter to use for paper only. I think using my quilt rulers and a rotary cutter would be even faster. The electric rotary cutter is so cool. As my arthritis progress, I will have to keep that in mind. I use a lint roller for all the seam ripper mess.

    Hi, I just discovered your TH-cam channel and I love it. Your style is so refreshing. Was wondering if you've done a video of the changes you made to the Simona bag that you posted on FB? I have some of the gorgeous bright red alligator vinyl and want something for a client just like you did the light grey one. I have the pattern, but haven't had the time to try it yet and your changes are just inspired. Thanks. Keep up the good work.

    Can you cut out vinyl and leather with those?

    • @SandcastleDesigns
      @SandcastleDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can! I have’t tried really heavy leather but this is a heavy duty saw meant for commercial use.

  • @viddy8379
    @viddy8379 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I Just found your channel. Thanks to Kittenish behaviour in uk. I’m from australia. Don’t have a heavy machine but it’s kind of strong- Bernina . Love your Thor machine. What thread would you suggest? I think my friend is your double in looks and personality.

    • @SandcastleDesigns
      @SandcastleDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Viddy!!! On a Bernina you can use the Gutermann Mara 70 thread and it will be strong enough for bags. It is made in Germany so I am not sure how available it is in Australia. Let me know if you can get it down under okay?

    • @viddy8379
      @viddy8379 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SandcastleDesigns I am pretty sure I could get this Mara 70 wt. There is a camping supplier called Vardhmann in Victoria that has it. Your needles are leather or Vinyl ones?

    • @SandcastleDesigns
      @SandcastleDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh great question! This will really depend on what you are sewing on. I literally use leather on leather, and vinyl on vinyl. I also use Microtex as an alternate. But for those I just mentioned...I use them specifically for those!

    How does the cutter do on rounded corners?

    • @SandcastleDesigns
      @SandcastleDesigns  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It works beautifully, just like a rotary cutter works. This is an extremely powerful cutter. The blades are super sharp.

  • @malley4747

    Do you cut your interfacing smaller than regular panels?

    • @SandcastleDesigns
      @SandcastleDesigns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I cut the decovil smaller yes. It is cut inside the seam allowance.
