So actually when you launch rockets you need to be close to equator to get an extra boost and save fuel so to this day Russia still launches these rockets especially the Soyuz that's there most used one from Kazakhstan as it was used when it was part of USSR to ensure successful space travel they still launch them from Kazakhstan but the control is of Russia. The spaceship like rocket you see is actually a copy of the space shuttle made by NASA which flew more than 135 missions. It was the first reusable rocket and sadly we lost Kalpana Chawla in the destruction of one of these space shuttle named "Colombia" when the heat seal broke off and during re-entry the shuttle burned up in the sky. This was all USA space shuttle the Russian copy only flew 1 single time.
