What Michael Jordan did was make people who had never even watched a basketball game, watch, just to see what he could do. He transcended the sport, raised sport in general into another level of public interest as never before. He ushered sport into the cable era. AND, when the chips were on the line, he never missed. Never. You could just sit there, and watch, knowing it was coming, and knowing that there was nothing anybody could do about it.
THAT'S what made him the GOAT.

      Age 33
Mike completed an amazing season in 1995-96 by leading the Bulls to an all-time record 72-10, 25 wins more than the previous season. He also led the league in scoring for a record eighth time and was named NBA MVP. They won in the Finals over Seattle 4-2.
Regular season plus playoffs: 100 games played, 3,043 points, 30.4 ppg. He also averaged 6.3 rpg, 4.3 apg, and 2.1 spg.
      Age 34
Jordan led the league in scoring for the ninth time and beat NBA MVP Karl Malone in the Finals 4-2 under Phil, and he was named Finals MVP for the fifth time in 1996-97. They went an amazing 69-13. Kobe averaged 7.6 points in this season as a rookie.
Regular season plus playoffs: 101 games, 3,910 minutes, 3,021 points, 29.9 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 4.4 apg, and 1.7 spg.
      Age 35
Michael became a 10-time scoring champion, five-time MVP, and six-time Finals MVP in 1997-98. He was the oldest ever player to do any of that. The Bulls went 62-20 under Phil and beat the Jazz again 4-2. Jordan was 6-0 in the Finals.
Regular season plus playoffs: 103 games, 3,037 points, 29.5 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 3.5 apg, and 1.7 spg.

Complete resume of the G.O.A.T. His Airness MJ
    Jordan has;
    -3 more final mvps
    -1 more DPOY
    -1 more season MVP
    -9 more scoring titles
    -3 more steals leader
-4 more 1st team all defense selections
    -800 more steals
    -Higher efficiency rating
-Beat 20 50+ teams in the playoffs (Lebron only defeated 10)
-Jordan never averaged less than 40% Field Goal in the finals
    Lebron did it twice
    -6/6 (never allowed a game 7)
-Jordan never had a teammate averaged more than 22 points in the finals..
Kyrie averaged over 28 and DWade averaged more than 26
-MJ never ever had a finals meltdown like Lebron in 2011 against the Mavs
-MJ never lost a series he was favoured in, Lebron has lost multiple
-MJ never gave up on his team when the game was on, EVER. Lebron gave up in 2018 Finals after JR mistake, he's given up playing defense
-MJ had more points in the playoffs in less games..all of this accomplished in 13 seasons. Lebron is in his 16th season still chasing the "ghost that played in Chicago"
-Michael Jordan in the playoffs has put up atleast 40ppg, 5rpg, 5apg in 6 different playoff series. Along with an average of about 55% shooting, 3spg and 2bpg. (86 vs bos, 89 vs cavs, 90 vs philly, 92 vs Miami, 93 vs Phoenix, 88 vs cavs) Jordan won every one of those matchups except for the 1986 matchup vs the celtics.
-Jordan in 88-89 averaged 32ppg, 8apg, 8rpg, 3spg off 54% shooting. LeBron has never even came close to this stat line.
-1987 thru 1992, MJ averaged 5 straight seasons of atleast 51% FG shooting. LeBron has never done this.
-The lowest FT% MJ ever shot in a season was 78%. Lebrons highest in a season ever is 78%.
-MJ has a higher playoff FG% of 48.7% to Lebrons 48.3%
-MJ has a higher playoff player efficiency rating of 28.6 to Lebrons 27.3.
-MJ shoots a higher playoff 3 point percentage of 33.2% to Lebrons 32.9%
-MJ 3-peated with one all star team mate, Lebron has always needed more than one to win and still has losses against teams other than GSW
-MJ has 5 of the 7 top playoff series scoring averages of all time and 6 of the top 10. Lebron doesn't have one in the top 10.
-MJ has more Post-Season Records than Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Kobe and Lebron Combined.
-MJ holds the Highest career PER average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history.
-MJ holds the Highest career Efficiency rating average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history.
-MJ holds the Highest career Gamescore average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history.
-MJ holds the Highest career Winshares average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history.
-MJ holds the Highest MVP shares average in NBA regular season, post season and NBA Finals history.
-MJ is the only player to lead the league in Scoring and Win Defensive player of the Year a season.
-MJ is the only player to Win a championship, scoring title and steals title in the same season.
-MJ played defense his whole career, Lebron don't play it anymore and they say it's cos he's older
-MJ never made excuses for his losses like Lebron with his "broken hand"
    -Scoring Titles - Jordan - 10, LeBron -1
-MJ has averaged over 40 points per game in an NBA record five playoff series (and nearly pulled it off against Cleveland in 1989). LeBron has zero. In fact, LeBron has four series where he shot less than 40% for the series (Jordan has 1). Jordan also accomplished this before rule changes came along to make scoring much easier, yet still fared well at age 38 in that era as mentioned below.
-Steals Titles - Jordan three time winner, James zero times. LeBron James allows his opponents to increase their scoring averages in the Finals (see Tony Parker in 2007, Jason Terry in 2011, Kevin Durant in 2012, and Andre Iguodoloa in 2015). This really isn’t close. Jordan locks down his opponents, while James struggles.
-MJ never had his whole season saved by another team mate's shot (Ray Allen)
-LeBron James led both teams in turnovers in 2017 (22), 2016 (31), 2014 (19), and 2011 (24). He was his team’s turnover leader every time except in 2012.
-LEBRON IS 5TH IN HIGHEST TURNOVERS OF ALL TIME, Jordan is 28th
-Pippen missed half of the 98 season, when Jordan was 35. He also missed the final part of the game 6 in Utah, where Jordan made the crucial steal and clutch shot. MJ without Pippen was still strong.
We'll see when Lebron's averages drop. A billion many excuses made for a man who's supposed to be the GOAT.

Jordan was like no athelete before him, Yes, he was MVP and yes he responsible for his team winning so many rings but there was something about Jordan that when you watched him playing he just made you feel that life had no worries and the smile he put on your face wasn't out of anger towards other team or stress, the smile he put on your face was genuine and for that moment smiling shaking my head in awe i had no anger or stress or thought about anything but what i was watching.I knew in my heart that the feeling was once in a life time watching an athelete and what an athelete he was!!
Why distroy that and watch any other , leave the fond memories inside and move in life.
Just look at the crowd reactions and look at the reactions these days, not the same.

I think the biggest reason why I believe he's the best is because he doesn't just shoot the ball in...he does it in the most difficult way possible and makes look easy. It's like basketball is too easy for him so he challenges himself by making risky or difficult shots.

You know what, MJ is the greatest basketball player that will ever live, but you forgot to mention two of the most important reasons for his greatness. The first one I am speaking of is HUSTLE. MJ always hustled! If you've ever played sports, you know the one thing that makes a player stand out is the willingness to hustle. (Some call it "heart," which is kind of an abstract, so I call it by its manifestation.) The second one is the fact that MJ was a died hard "triple zero player;" meaning, MJ would not quit hustling until the final tenth of a second tick and the final buzzer.

My favorite Michael Jordan moment was in the 1989 celebrity basketball game. Arsenio Hall was coaching the opposing team and Magic Johnson was guarding Jordan. Mike dribbles the ball right to Arsenio and tells him, "watch what I do to your boy." He breaks Magic off the dribble and dunks on like 3 guys. He ran down the court looking at Arsenio. He was gifted with the absolute best athletic ability paired with his determination, hard work, and on court smarts made him 1 of a kind. Highest scoring average(ppg) ever and considering the Wizards years are figured in there too thats amazing. he was the most competitive ive ever seen. seriel like problem with winning. Without Rodman, Steve Kerr-sniper . While Jordan played with the Chicago Bulls between 1985-1990 without Denis Rodman was defeated by Pistons. Jordan become a brand is only business, he never become a sniper or shooter of 3 points.

The best clutch shooter was Larry Bird but also Robert Horry, Curry (for me the best in this age), Kobe Bryant, Reggie Miller, Drazen Petrovic (This guy died too young, but he was an exceptional player). I must admit that MJ in mentality, physical abilities, leadrship and determination he was better than Kobe the most nearly competitor. Lebron is a BS as a Tyson , the Lebron's daddy is Curry (Golden Warriors)

After the fierce rivalry against the fucking pistons lead by Isaiah Thomas, Bill Lambeer,Joe Dumar , MAhorn, etc. The famous " Bad Boys#

There was something to the way MJ played the game, I can't put it in words. I'll just call it the "X factor" or the "The Force" as in Star Wars. Some players had "the Force" like Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryan, but no other player had as much of "the Force" as Michael did. Steph and Durant has it. I just can't seem to find it in Lebron, he is great but its just not there. This is my subjective view, so you can call it bias if you want.

My greatest moment from Michael Jordan besides seeing him play for the Wizards before final retirement was watching him play against Charlotte on t.v. once. He ran to the right sideline and jumped. He drew at least three players with him. He jumped before they did and then when they caught up they jumped too. In the slow motion replay...two of the three players began to descend and Jordan was still in the air in a fade away form...when the last defender began to descend Jordan released the shot and began to descend himself...upon landing...nothing but net! 😎

MJ is way better than Kobe and that's for sure.Through all the years have passed,he (MJ) achieved so many things and changed the face of the basketball history.Kobe tries every moves of MJ but there's no way that he could be more closer to him.Maybe even in his PRIME.

The highest rated and most watched NBA Finals series was the 1998 NBA Finals between the Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz. 29 million viewers. Back when the population of the world was only 5.98 billion vs today's population of 7.88. Still hasn't been beaten. MJ brought in the crowds to the game of basketball like no one before him or after.

Every moment was my favorite moment by MJ I still keep up with watching the NBA here and there but without jordan its just not the same so now that I invested in a court and a hoop I just play and still try to perfect that famous fadaway jump shot like Mike and it brings back all the memories from growing up watching MJ play to me playing basketball on teams from elementary school up to High school but even then I still had MJ to look up too

Let’s not forget MJ averaged 32, 11.5 assists, and 6.6 boards vs Showtime. He also won a defensive player of the year award. Only man ever w over 200 steals and 100 blocks in a season. Never went to a finals game 7. Oh. And he averaged 41ppg, 8.5rbs, 6.3 assists, & 1.7 steals vs Barkley’s Suns. I could go on. And on.

I had never watched an NBA game until the Michael Jordan hype began around 84-85...the first time I actually watched him I was amazed and felt that he was humiliating the other players...I was addicted and watched him 3-5 nights a week as WGN went national with Bulls coverage...It was Like the Mike Tyson Fights...you didn't want to blink and miss it...after he retired I haven't watched an NBA game since.

jordan is the best because players during his era was faster, better ball handler, more shooter and more creative than the players of the 2000's. plus there were no illegal defense during the 90's, semi-zone was allowed at that time. so yes, jordan is the best.
