/petaction place to center the fairy on the target /petaction place to center the fairy on you These have been super helpful for me when playing the game mostly the first one. its so nice to press the macro and it just places eos in the center of the boss. I typically use it when I see the boss center itself instead of me placing it so i can do less work. Would also work with party splitting up and i target a ally then hit the macro. Is a very valuable tool for managing Eos.
Dissipation gives a very large healing boost that stacks with other buffs, and can actually (in combination with other buffs) allow Recitation + Adloquium + Deployment tactics to eclipse player health bars, and there's no hard cap to this in game- meaning if you tag Fey Illum + Dissipation + Recitation -> Adloquium, with your Target being a Warrior who's been tagged with Thrill of battle + Rampart + Protraction, you can essentially make multi-hit raidwides something your entire party can ignore upon spreading that shield and eclipsing the various HP bars, and this is without even considering other heal buffs from Jobs like Bard, Monk, Dancer, and Red Mage!
Definitely a level of coordination I don't expect to see in PF. It's cool when I do see a heal boosting ability conveniently go off as I'm in the mood to spreadlo as well, but they don't come very often. Different story in a static for sure.
@@iPlayOnSpica this is so real! when it just lines up it's like a shot of visual euphoria XD it's absolutely amazing, it's like in contrast to DMG Buff Alignment, there's Heal Buff Alignment, such a beautiful concept if it allows the healers to DMG more or lets the DPS greed harder XD ♥
I'm a tank by trade and I like red mage and summoner. I have been attracted to scholar forever because of the fairy themes. This eases some of my anxiousness in trying it. Thank you for the guide!
Amazing guide, and I really like your slide cast explanation, a lot of players in game think that's only for magic dps classes, but healers can really make use of it too. In my case, since I play with 400 ping, most mechanics are impossible to dodge without slide casting.
Great guide, as always! SCH is my favourite healer by far, even though it's jank as hell. But that probably adds to the satisfaction of actually getting it right and excelling with it.
I will consume this video very thoroughly tomorrow. I started last summer as a summoner, and have stuck to DPS. In response to the new jobs being just DPS, I've shifted my focus to healers and tanks for the almost nonexistent wait times, and now after the MSQ has been done, I've settled on healers. I've left scholar for last and it's just so different.
Wow, that guide is amazing. As a new Scholar player, one thing I'd change - you sometimes speak of skills but don't show them on screen and I just can't connect the name with a skill. You make up for it a bit later by showing the icons, so it's not big of an issue.
I find myself using this combo a lot with the new recitation: -> Recitation + Indomitability for burst heal in odd minutes. -> Recitation on Spreadlo on even minutes. Or vice-versa, of course. This way, every minute you either have a strong burst heal or a powerful shield.
16:16 I'd argue that SCH is a little unique and there should be more categories of heals: TRULY free heals, faerie heals, Aetherflow heals, and emergency heals. Truly free heals are limited to Recitation + Excog, Recitation + Indom, and Protraction, and this is a very small list. As far as I'm aware, all remaining ogcd heals rely on either the faerie's presence or Aetherflow. The reason I point this out is because if you use Dissipation (especially for dps) and blow all your stacks or if you use certain faerie abilities like Summon Seraph, you need to be mindful that some faerie abilities do get locked out and become unavailable for use, and you're left with... almost no more ogcd heals. Or in Fey Union's case, simply canceled.
Hey Rinon thanks for that amazing guide ! I was thinking it would be nice to have a controller tips video from you, especially for healers. I used to play a lot of healer jobs when I was playing on PC but since I switched to Xbox, I have anxiety to play healer using my controller and prefer to play tank or DPS. I feel it’s going to be so hard to target people/swiftly react to mechanics using controller. Since you’re a TH-camr that I see often playing controller I think you would be great at guiding players like me! A lot of my friends that play on console feel that healing would be hard for them too. Thanks for your amazing work, love your channel. Take care 🤗❤️

I still find it highly outdated that uniquely for SCH, you must trade healing for dps, and for such an inconsequential gain. It feels especially bad in dungeon trash pulls if the tank is doing fine, and Energy Drain hits just one enemy for 100 potency? And if Energy Drain must stay, who asked for its utterly useless healing effect? I don't know a more useless heal than its % based lifesteal effect.

I am so happy you use a controller because whenever I look up videos of how to easily set up my hotbars I never find any for console even when I search controller
Picked up healing in Endwalker because of Sage, I like the aesthetics. After leveling tanks and dps in Dawntrail im trying to decide which healer to focus on. Never thought I'd play any healer, let alone Sage, but here we are. 😅
Note: due to the increasing of broil potency to 315, 3 energy drains are now lower potency than a broil (not accounting for being in buffs). Nothing frustrates me more than seeing scholars dumping energy drains and them having to rely on gcd heals because they turned off 70% of their kit
Why does that make you angry? They made a mistake. They can learn from it and do better next time. Everyone makes mistakes when learning a new fight or dealing with an unexpected situation.
Sch are suppose to be using energy drain in between casts, it's free ogcd dmg. However they shouldn't be burning their aether flow stacks all at once. That makes no sense. Even if the sch wants to save some for heals, are you really suggesting they just sit on these when there's nothing to heal??
I mean that's what recitation is for, the goal for sch shouldn't be healing it should be mitigation. If you're utilizing everything effectively you should have aetherflow coming up if you need it. As a sch with shield being tied to gcd heals we're gonna need to use them sometimes. Burning or saving just comes with experience and a lot of people have ways they prefer
@nowaynoways584 you 100% Want to spend as many Energy Drains as you can DURING raid buffs. 100 potency is boosted just as many times as other sources of damage, therefore making Energy Drain significantly more impactful than at any random point in a fight. If you have extra stacks before Aetherflow is coming off CD, you can spend them beforehand and use that to gauge how many Energy Drains you can comfortably fit into the next buff window. Making a habit of randomly weaving Energy Drain during the fight encourages less deliberate use of tools during optimal windows. In Savage, you really don't want to be flimsy until you are on reclears.
There's way too many casual Scholars that dump all their aetherflow and then contribute nothing to party health. Also I wish they'd made our regular DoT AOE instead. Or made it not be attached to Chain Stratagem so you can use it on dungeon mobs without risking not having it up again for the next boss.
My current static is running double barrier and there have been multiple heavy hitting mechanics that just straight up never even do enough damage to get to our health bars
I've been playing Scholar heavily since Stormblood and thought I was solid using recit + adlo + depl tactics on reaction to tank buster. I forgot to consider the fact that it is buffed by healing buffs, so even within the SCH's own kit, Fey Illum, Dissipation, and Protraction all buffing the healing recovery makes the size of the shield enormous. (1.452x above normal adlo crit with all three). And to be completely honest, I think this is the only real significant usage for Protraction. 10% buff to heals on a single target for only 10 seconds always seemed quite low and short to matter. SCH is super inefficient at healing a single target back up to full, it's the worst "job" we have and the regen healer should absolutely have better tools to take care of that kind of job. Honestly the kit being clunky shows with recitation's combos too: on Succor should probably be made stronger. Crit healing isn't enough if it doesn't Galvanize. Honestly, if you recitation anything other than adlo...it feels somewhat like a waste. Using it for indom is solid, not even for the lack of aetherflow cost (becuase Indom cooldown is still triggered anyways), but because if the critical heal amount. I'm guessing that heal amount approaches Cure III potency but insta cast and much wider range. Using it anything other than those two and it's basically erased into nothing. Major point though: I think Sacred Soil is the most underutilized aetherflow ability. You mention all of the details in this video, but the point feels spread out throughout the video and to put it all in one place: sacred Soil should be on cooldown almost always during a fight in a non-static setting of a non-trivial (ex trial or harder) fight. It heals more than anything else in a single aether stack and in harder fights it's virtually always true that you're either about to take a raidwide, or could use a topping off of players so having indom out is going to do a lot of work even if you don't think it will. The slight issue with the guide is that some of the advice, while certainly true leans towards having a real regen cohealer, who you should defer to for "big heals" but so often in both EX trials, I've had a cohealer who really doesn't do anything. I've played them plenty with both WHM and SCH so I know what the other healer subrole can and should be doing, and I rarely see it. When I do, it's instantly recognizable. While frustrating, my point is simply that I have to "act" as if I'm a solo healer, until I actually see what my cohealer is doing -- and it's often, not enough. Great practice of course, but there's no way I'm openining or entering my 2 minute bursts burning 6 or 9 aetherflow stacks on energy drain lol. That's suicidal.
Mouse-over macros have been the biggest upgrade to my performance as a healer. I've consolidated my party list, enemy list, and boss info in one zone to boost my reaction time to the moon. Any targeted OGCD's are much faster to use this way. I would advise against using anything with a cast time like this, the only exception being Resirrection. Being able to hit Swiftcast and instantly slap someone on the party list means less interruptions. Just never macro your Resurrection with Swiftcast, I beg of you.
Did they change something in late EW or DT to allow for two ogcds between instant casts? I haven't played in a while and I only remember being able to weave one ability per gcd.
this is purely ping dependant. if you struggle double weaving on insta casts, consider installing no clippy (or just accept you cant do it if you are a console player)

My favorite sch tech is playing sage. I dont even know why ED exists anymore. 3 EDs is weaker than one Broil IV now. You only loose like 10-13 broils worth of potency completely ignoring it, which you cant even achieve without never using soil which is low key trolling.
Love the section at the end about being a team player, people that care about parsing on healer are a nightmare. Shield healers especially, if you got a good parse on a run its probably because your team was actually properly helping with mits. If they're not Feinting and Reprisaling etc then sorry buddy its either you do a bunch of GCD healing or you all wipe. The joys of being a pf healer...
I dont think I've ever bothered using Succor in dungeons. It's definitely a great tool, but SCH doesn't really require spending resources on it outside of Recitation. Cooldown rotations are often more than enough healing to save Aetherflows for Energy Drains to speed things along. Using Adlo before the pull (even Swiftcast Adlo if lagging behind) will allow you to save Recitation for Excog, Critical Lustrate, or Critical Adlo midpull and sustain the tank alongside other oGCD tools. There are some times where you might need to spend an occasional Aetherflow on an extra Lustrate if the DPS is low or tanks aren't using mitigations, but you can usually tell the flow of things by the first mob. SCH has such good tools to constantly have on rotation while also having Protraction and Aetherpact on the off pulls when things are on cooldown. SCH can definitely struggle a bit more than other healers when tanks aren't using mitigations, though. Also, I would say that the best time to use Dissipation is before Aetherflow has 30 or less seconds of cooldown left before being available again. Using it before the final enemy in a pull dies is good too, but I personally like using it right after getting Faerie commands like the regen and mitigation/heal boost off. They persist after the Dissipation and the added healing boost from both alongside Dissipations boost makes a Recitation midpull more than enough healing to sustain the tank the whole pull. Otherwise, I agree with all you said. Good stuff for people unfamiliar with the class and are getting the feel of things.
I don't do savage so I don't have to worry with dps checks. I never energy drain. It just seems like a waste for 100 potency. Edit: Also, I can't look at the Excog icon without seeing the silhouette of Farnsworth from Futurama.
The main use of energy drain is just for dumping aetheflow stacks when it's about to go off cooldown. If no one needs healing, might as well get some damage off to not waste them.

Wait, pet potency is still reduced? Damn, I thought we got parity with Endwalker.
Art of War is a gain on two.
Good news everyone
I greeded on snakes with aoe yeyeyeye :)
Can you do one for sage?? QQ
This was a great watch. I concluded that I’ll always be garbage at this job lol
