Hi! Thank you for making an awesome video with details information! Could you please let us know if all the features of MS OFFICE works on Chromebook? I mean to say on the browser if it a paid version. I need a computer and I am dependent on MS OFFICE. I am thinking of getting Chromebook after watching your video.

Hi, unfortunately it's impossible to answer that question because there are thousands of tasks/options that can be used with office. You should have most options available, but there may be some things that still need the full version. It all depends on your own individual needs. I would think about what you need from office and then check online. Hope it has everything you need for your new Chromebook.

I am still working out how to set as default to open microsoft 365 PWA for default. I have downloaded as in your vid and also added the extension, I just get a message saying please sign in to the extension, but does anyone know where or know how to?
    Many thanks
    Chris

I'm not getting the option to install Office as a PWA at all. Is it only available for paid subscription users? I did get the option for Outlook and that installed as a PWA but no other sections of office.

You should be able to add a PWA even without a paid version. I had same issue but with Outlook. I just refreshed the browser, as sometimes it shows and other times it doesn't.

@@ChromeComputingTV Have been attempting refreshing and restarting for hours now and still no luck. The options I get on the main Office page are, send this page, create QR code for this page, share this page and lastly, add page to favourites.
Outlook (and TH-cam) on the other hand, showed me the install option straight away. Baffling.

Yes it is strange, and I do understand what you mean because I did have this myself, but refreshes worked, but it was intermittent, so appears there is possibly an issue.

Hi there. Was wondering if you can help. I sold my HP laptop few days ago and wanted to know if working using Microsoft 365 on an Android tablet (or Chromebook) is as good or if not better than the online version? Or do you think it's still best to just get a Windows laptop?

Microsoft told me that I cant use the Password Protect feature in Word files on a chromebook, even with paid subcription? Any way around that, as far as you know?

  • @hassanmaje5849

Does it have the same features as the native desktop apps?

i'm pretty sure this ONLY works (Office as a PWA) if you have a Paid subscription of Office. If you are using the Free tier, having Office as a PWA is a no-go. (according to Bing AI).

You don't need a paid subscription to install Office as a PWA.

For a long time, when Microsoft 365 and Google Drive did not exist, I got used to the fact that in Windows, my folders have files in them, and I create a file in the folder I need. Therefore, it is very difficult to accept Microsoft 365 where I just create a file on the main page. I'm more used to the Google Drive space, and when you click search, prompts pop up where you can choose to sort by file type. But this is only about appearance.🙂
