    The nice part of the virtual swap meet, is it all stayed there and I did not bring any more projects home. Hard to say no, isn't it! 😉

    i remember my aunt had had an Ekco just like that in the late 1950s in UK when i was about 5, it was so fascinating to me it started my life long interest & a career in electronics.

    I didn't know about this. I'll have to try to get to one of those next time. Would have been nice to meet ya. If ever in MI. For any vintage electronics shows or Hamfests.. let us all know. Glad you found some neat stuff and thanks for the video!

    I love seeing all that old gear, but I have to say, I like even more the idea that I don't own it or have to lift it, move it, store it, or fix it. Great video!

      This video frustrated me because when I saw the tandem crt assembly on the ground I got excited hoping the rest of it was there,then I felt bad because there were TWO tandems for a very cheap price and Bob didn’t get them. That was a great swap meet.

    Fantastic video Bob! I've never been to one of these before, but I saw a lot of items I would have definitely been interested in. Great find on the Heathkit Signal tracer. You got some very cool old pieces too for some great future videos. You're a celebrity sir!

      So it would seem. That's what I get for showing my face. Yes, that Heathkit is interesting. They made several versions but this is the only one with selectable impedances. I'm missing the probe but modern reproductions are available.

    The speaker grille on the ECKO TV was popular in the UK way back then. My dad had a Dansette Major portable record player that had the same grille. There are UK vintage TV forums that will know plenty about these sets, a quick google should bring up many hits. The antenna connector is likely to be the Belling-Lee which is a coax type. I think you might have some adapters you scored earlier that will take an F connector and plug into the Belling-Lee socket on the set. There are systems converters and modulators available online and linked to on the forums.

    At 20:36 in you were looking at a cartridge less RCA Victor 45 rpm record changer. It's OK that it didn't have a cartridge
    because it can be wired for stereo using a stereo cartridge and have two RCA wired plugs coming out of it. Got a couple
    that I plan to do that to when I finish with this messy apartment and have a dedicated workshop in a spare bedroom.

    Two tandems! I still can’t believe there were TWO tandems! Were you able to catch a glimpse of the cabinets and see what finish and condition they were in?

    • @bandersentv
      @bandersentv  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope. They were already sold when I got there. It was the guy with the flatbed I showed at the beginning. He grabbed most of the TVs. I only saw the one head unit - no idea of the cabinet condition.

    • @Suddenlyits1960
      @Suddenlyits1960 ปีที่แล้ว

      @bandersentv,Thats rough! What if there were both blondes,or stereo tandems? I guess it’s one of those deals where you have to get there an hour before it starts and watch as people go in. Any idea who the guy is? Does he restore them and resell them? It seemed like he might be a reseller since he had those TVs sitting on the bed of the truck at the beginning of the video..unless those sets were more acquisitions that he had already loaded,but they seems to be displayed as if they were for sale. He might have resold the tandems for $400 each.

  • @hestheMaster
    @hestheMaster 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Boy there was a lot of good stuff for sale there. Too bad I was at work on that terribly hot day. Will be very impressed when
    you actually tackle that five dollar Radiola 60. They usually go for about $200 ! Check to see if the transformer works
    on 50-60 cycles AC and not Canadian 25-40 cycle AC! Wow a Heathkit T-2 signal tracer circa 1952. Cool buys Bob.

    Hi Bob,Just now got a chance to watch some of your recent videos.thanks for sharing this swap meet with us. Wow! There were TWO tandems there?! Did you end up buying the Predicta Tandem that you saw sitting on the ground,or was it one of the two the guy with the old truck pounced on for $200? Was it a whole set or just the crt section? Just watching this and knowing 2 tandems were there makes me feel sick inside. Lol. I would have tried to buy them from him,he may just resell them at a higher price. He was the guy with the TVs for sale on the tailgate. There were some nice things at that swap meet. At 00:38 there’s a 1948 sentinel 400 tv. If I remember correctly there is one of those in the Andy Griffith Show episode “Mayberry Goes Bankrupt”. It’s inside Frank Meyers house. I really like the plastic radio on the top shelf all the way to the right at 17:54. It looks similar to a Trav’ler radio I have,but I’ve seen that model badged as “Arcadia” and “CBS” as well. I’m guessing someone repainted it those colors and I’ve never seen one with stars on it.
    The conversation with the Zenith guy you ran into is interesting. Based on the sheer number of Predicta sets out there I had assumed they sold fairly well,even though they were extremely futuristic. It’s interesting to hear others say they sold poorly.
    I ran into a radio recently exactly like the one at 24:56 (cool microphone on top of it by the way) but it had no makers name on it anywhere. It’s a table top that looks like a console set. It was $50 I think.

    • @bandersentv

      I have one of those Sentinel TVs as well - Silvertone version too I think. Unfortunately, no one can find production or sales numbers, but clearly there are many still around. Holiday, Princess and Debutantes seem to be the most common. Tandems are second only to the Continental in rareity.

    • @Suddenlyits1960
      @Suddenlyits1960 ปีที่แล้ว

      @bandersentv, I didn’t realize Sears sold a Silvertone version. I’ve only seen the Sentinel branded ones. They have an interesting trapezoid shape.
      Philco had to have sold a good number of Predictas,you’re right the Holiday’s are very common and easily the biggest seller in the 21” lineup,but the debutante and princesses seem to be the most common sets.

    • @bandersentv
