I'm causally intrigued about this remake. I hope it is something like how Resident Evil 2 was done. But we'll have to wait and see. Silent Hill 2 is one of my favourite games of all time but I also think the other three are really good. The ones that aren't team silent seemed to just copy themes from the SH2 and think that was the only game. Like how Pyramidhead and the sexy nurses became staples but the other games missing the point of them...
I usually don't like very slow dumb conversation but but silent hill 2 is the only game that it worked in its favor. Especially when you know that the character are meant to not make sense in thier conversation because they're neither here or there and most time seeing different environment than the one you're seeing ahh just perfect especially on playing it again or seeing these interactions again every movement and settle tone change make way more sense when you watch it again, ahh Soo good.
Silent Hill 2 a huge part of my childhood however I am cautiously optimistic about this remake since I've been let down by Konami alot and Bloober Team is inconsistent sometimes
I'm with Rick here, i feel that all the "clunkyness" of the og games adds to the feeling that i think is gonna loose in the translation to third person. In Resident Evil they got away with that beacuse it was always more focused on the action elements, and RE4 tension was all about your resources and enemy variation. Silent Hill never really was about the combat and i feel it will never be, so i'm curious to see how they managed that. Altough i'm a little exceptic about this being made by Bloober team. They made a really good game called Observer but the rest were mid at best...

The issue with the expressive argument is that those who played the original know the truth. For the player playing for this first time wouldn't know. If you're seeing creatures you will be expressive. You're not gonna look a monster and treat it like the average Tuesday.
The director of the game said that they made James older in this game because the players themselves are older from when the first one came out. Some are complaining because why make him older because the point was he was a younger husband that was selfish and naive. But we will see.
The voice acting from the OG was deliberate. Like you said the very end was the best in terms of the acting. Only because we haven’t reached peak insanity yet. I mean how are idk another word but CRAZY people (Eddie/Angela/James) supposed to sound?
I love the aesthetic of the original, polygons, sound and acting feel fitting and creepy. The more polished the less unnerving it becomes imo. Its cool that Sunderland kinda looks like younger David Lynch. But the original isn’t going anywhere so a new one happening is ok by me
I have no faith in bloober team when it comes to coming up with something scary due to what they did with The Medium, HOWEVER, I DO have faith that they can deliver when it comes to graphics and atmosphere which is ALL they need to do to bring this classic to modern audiences as long as they don't change too much.
The biggest misconception around SH2 iis the delivery of the dialogue. What you noticed, in terms of how emotional the ending was, is correct, it was done by design. SH2 is hugely influenced by the work of David Lynch who operates in "dream logic." The dialogue is supposed to sound deranged, inappropriate, unhinged because you are not seeing fully realized people in an actual town. You are seeing the rawest contents of the psyche of these people. What lies underneath, does not look or sound like what is on the surface. Only in the end when the revelation is had, is there a glimpse of humanity.

I'm excited for the movie coming out based on this game. Return To Silent Hill is going to basically be a James movie. I can't wait!
